1/7/20 Update 1.4.1 (Alignment System/CC Update)

Hey everyone!

Here is the next huge update for the game! Our most important new feature is the addition of the alignment system which brings choice and consequence!

Taken from the previous dev status post:
"The alignment system is now a real thing. Though not originally planned, I found that the game felt like it was missing something - freedom of choice and consequences and rewards based on player made choices. Now, you have full control over your presence in the game world. Choose to be an evil villain? Sure. A benevolent hero? Sure. Somewhere in between? Sure. Just a jerk? Yep!

There are two scales which control your alignment which are good vs evil and law vs chaos. In the game, they are your disposition and soul. Disposition is your standpoint on justice or lawlessness. The color of your soul is your point of view on good vs evil. A bright soul is good, a black soul is evil and a dim soul is in the middle. There are a variety of ways you can change these as they will constantly update depending on your choices. EVERY SINGLE QUEST that is relevant to these has been updated with more choices and alternate outcomes. That's like 70 quests right there. Yes, I updated them all. "That's a lot of work." - Yeah, you're telling me. Then, on top of that, all of the random world map events that have something to do with good vs evil or law vs chaos have been updated as well. There is also a pop up text system to show when your alignment changes.

Think of a scale where 0 - 100 is considered neutral and 101 - infinity is good/justice and everything below 0 is evil/chaos. This is how the alignment system is gauged. Small and minor choices may influence the scale by 1-5 points. The larger the situation and choice, the bigger the alignment shift."

Bug Fixes:
-Fixed some Tileset Pathing
-Fixed a few Typos
-Fixed a Bug when Fast Traveling from Stahlis to Cresse (You went to Kordon instead of Cresse)
-Fixed the Daily Refresh System
-Added additional Check to ensure that Vigor and Spirit start off at 100% (If you took a skill that affected these, it wouldn't start you off at 100%, but your previous 100% before taking skills)

-Nearly every Action you take now affects Alignment
-You can now Equip Usable Plot Items in your Quick Slots
-Added Popup Text to show Alignment Shift
-Added Popup Text to show Quickslot Usage
-Updated some Icon Art
-Updated Character Creation with some Colorized Text and Icons in some Text
-Updated the Intro
-Added Battle Sound Effect when an Attack is Blocked
-Added Chimneys to all Hovels
-Added more Decor to several Areas
-Added Animations for the Plague Victims inside the Pyrshen Hospital Area
-Added Random Encounters to Lost Shipment Area
-Added Falhof Village Area
-Added Falhof: Barn Area
-Added Falhof: Church Area
-Added several more Lootable Containers
-Set the base Time for Random World Map Events to be 2/3 filled (so the very first random event happens much faster)
-Recategorized a few Items
-Updated some Shops
-Added Variable Prices (+/- up to 15% of Item Price, refreshes daily in game time)

NOTE: You will need to start a new game for this update to work properly.

I had a second to spare, so I decided to stop by here and talk about the next update which will be coming in a few days if all goes well.

As for other upcoming features, another village has been added and this one is unique as it is the first "dead" village. The Plague really did a number on it, so now the village is left to rot. Who knows what horrors (or treasures) you may uncover there?

There are a lot of other quality of life improvements to make the game easier to play and to be more pleasant of an experience. A block sound effect was added for when an attack is blocked and no damage is dealt! Huzzah!

The intro to the game has been updated to have a bit more interactive items/entities as well. It felt a bit too empty. It is intended to ease the player into the game, but chances are, they want to see how it works and plays as quickly as possible, so more has been added.

One new magic item that will be helpful as a utility is the Chrono Stone. Basically, it's a magical pocket watch. Ever wondered what the actual time was in game? Wonder no more! With a Chrono Stone, you can now know the exact in game time.

There are also many more changes with the next update, but you'll have to wait and see them for yourself when the update comes out!

12/27/19 Development Status Update

Lawless Lands,

Hey everyone!

So, I just wanted to stop by and give everyone a quick update on the development status of the game and the next update.

Today I implemented a true alignment system more like in traditional rpgs. Before, you could choose your standing for your character in terms of law and chaos, but now you can also choose your position on good and evil. Basically, you have disposition which has Justified, Neutral, and Lawless, and then you can also choose how bright or dark your character's soul is - Light, Dim, or Black. As you play the game, choices and actions you make will dynamically alter your score with both of those systems and can change as you continue on your journey. New paths will become available, new dialogue choices, and consequences or rewards will as well.

The system is in the game, I just need to make the current content work in terms of quests and events and actions with it, which I plan to do tomorrow.
