9/7/19 GIANT Overhaul Update 1.3.5

Lawless Lands,

Hey everyone!

As originally promised, here is the next major update to Lawless Lands. To sum it up, I have barely slept over the past week and especially the past two days. I wanted to be sure I got this out when I had originally promised and planned.

This update should REALLY bring the game up in terms of fluidity, style, and performance. There are so many new features, improvements, and other changes that I'm not going to spend time writing them out here. Simply check them out below.

Update 1.3.5 Change Log:

Bug Fixes:
-Fixed Volley Fire Ranged Skill not needing Ammo (Arrows, Bolts) Equipped
-Fixed Certain Ammo Types giving +1 Damage when they shouldn't be
-Fixed some Tileset pathing issues
-Fixed Bug that made it so the Player Character's Title would be changed base on Companion Rank (If Ranked Title was on)
-Fixed Price of Stew Recipe
-Fixed Price of Bone Broth Recipe
-Fixed some Equipment Descriptions
-Fixed a rare Bug that caused the in Game Fog to temporarily become Disabled
-Fixed Sound Effect in Shops when Buying and Selling Items (Was very low pitched and didn't sound good)
-Fixed a Bug where the Weather System Timer would reset whenever the Player went to another Area
-Fixed a Bug where the Random Sound System would reset whenever the Player went to another Area
-Fixed a Storm Sound Effect that dramatically cut-off and then Looped
-Fixed a Bug with the Extreme Temperature Regions
-Fixed a few Weapons that were incorrectly Categorized in the Inventory
-Fixed a Bug where Ghouls would Retreat every so often

-Added 5 Randomized Chime Sound Effects to Play at each Battle Start
-Redesigned the System for Checking Health and Morale of Characters to be much more Effecient
-Added 7 Second Timer when the Character or a Companion's Spirit is 0 (After battle) before they leave the Company (To allow a chance to improve it)
-Added Warning Message to Display when a Character is at 0 Spirit
-Updated Messages that alert to Characters dying or leaving the Company
-Made Orbs and Lesser Orbs automatically heal and revive the Player Character if they're alone in the Company when they die
-Added Extra Method to ensure World Map Movement Speed is correct

-Updated Font/Text Sizes/Styles used in Combat to put more emphasis on certain Situations (Such as critical hits, damage, healing, etc)

-Completely Redesigned the Color Scheme System based on Time of Day in Game (Added more blue/grey to the environment)
-Changed Color Tint based on Time of Day to Change over the course of 3 Seconds instead of just 1 Second (Was too drastic and now it is more gradual but you can see it happening as it changes)
-All Wolf Enemy Variants (And Warhounds - Including Companions) now have a slight Chance of Acting more than once per Turn during Combat (15% two times, 7.5% three times)
-Ghoulish Wretch Enemies now have a slight Chance of Acting more than once per Turn during Combat (10% two times, 5% three times)
-Plagued Rat Enemies now have a slight Chance of Acting more than once per Turn during Combat (10% two times, 5% three times)
-Modified the Swamp Tower in the Murky Swamp to be a bit larger to better reflect that it is in fact a fair sized tower
-Creature Specific Items are now categorized as Unique instead of Trophies
-Changed Mouse Over Text Font to the Standard VL Gothic
-Repositioned how Mouse Over Text Displays near Events/Characters
-Added a slight opaque Window around Mouse Over Text
-Brightened the Maps slightly when they are being used for the Battle Backgrounds
-Added a slight Redish Haze to Battle Backgrounds
-Improved the Starting Area with more to do/find
-Changed the Shield Bash Sound Effects

-Improved Incense Icon Art (Looked too much like a cigarette)
-Improved the Weather System Handling
-Weather can now change (for when the Player goes outside) when inside an Interior Area
-Added a Unique Sound Effect to Play when using a Bandage or Rag
-Added a Variation of Speaking to Venril without the Rat Token (Plot Item)
-Added a new Unique Weapon - Gained by Defeating Drogun
-Added a new Unique Weapon - Gained by Defeating Zik
-Gave the Cave Orc a Unique Name since he is a Boss (Gorug)
-Gave the Slaver Master in the "Desert Defense" Side Quest a Unique Name since he is a Boss (Ahmaun)

-All Ammunition (Actual Ammunition) is now Color-Coded Amber in the Inventory (To match how the other types are)
-All Outfits are now Color-Coded Brown in the Inventory (To match how the other types are)
-Renamed Pendant of Command to "Pendant of Vengeance"
-Changed Pendant of Vengeance Type to Unique instead of Relic
-Added Color-Coded Names and Symbols to all Elites, Leaders, and Bosses in Combat
-Various other minor Improvements and Changes

9/5/19 Developer Status Update

Lawless Lands,

Hey guys!

I wanted to quick stop by and let you all know the situation with the next update.

I had planned to have it out tomorrow or Saturday, but this morning, I had an issue with my work PC and it took me more than half of the day to get it sorted.

Due to this, the update might be delayed until Sunday or Monday since today was supposed to be spent on finalizing the update in preparation for release. Instead, I was fighting the computer to recognize my display adapters and trying to reinstall graphics drivers - to no avail.

I apologize for the inconvenience. The update will be out ASAP.

Big Lawless Lands Update Incoming!

Hey everyone!

So, I just wanted to let you all know that by the end of the week, a very large update is coming to the game. Overhauling several systems and greatly improving several others. As always, lots of new content as well.

I'm not going into much detail now, but rest assured, this is another gigantic update and should really bring the game some steps up. Graphical improvements, fixes, player comfort changes, etc.

Hey everyone!

It's hard to believe, but it's true. Soon, Corrosive Studios will turn 5 years old. On September 20th, 5 years ago, my dream came true. With a few solid friends and supporters, a little bit of game making knowledge, some basic programming knowledge, and a lot of ideas, Corrosive Studios was born!

Thanks to all of you who have supported and helped me out, the dream soon became reality and has lasted for 5 whole years so far! I hope this continues and I am able to make many more games for everyone to enjoy.

As a thank you, I'll be doing some giveaways on the 20th, and ALL of my products will be on sale for SUPER cheap.

8/24/19 Developer Status Update

Lawless Lands,

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to stop by real quick and let you all know how the game's progress has been coming. I haven't done an update or post in about 2 weeks but that's because I was working on finals for school. I have however, continued working on Lawless Lands and have been making some great progress for the next update!

As always, polish, lots of new content, new features, and more are coming with the next major patch, but it won't be out for a little while.

A Coming Change to Dying in Combat

Something I wanted to mention was a change to combat concerning the "Orbs" in game that allow you to revive allies when they die. Some players have come to me and explained how difficult the game is when playing without companions in the company. The game is meant to be difficult and not really hold your hand, but I think I found a good middle ground for this. Basically, when the player doesn't have any companions and it's only the player character, if they die in combat, Orbs in the inventory will automatically be used to revive the player's character. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THE PLAYER CHARACTER WHEN THEY ARE ADVENTURING ALONE. To explain how the system works, a conditional will check how large the current company size is when combat initiates. If it is anything greater than 1, nothing will happen. If it is at 1, the player will be temporarily set to immortal - unable to be killed. Then, it will check if the player has any Orbs or Lesser Orbs in their inventory. If they do, the player will continue to be temporarily immortal. If not, immortality will turn off. Now, when the player character dies, Orbs will take priority over Lesser Orbs, so the player will be revived for 20% of their Vigor. If they have no regular Orbs (stronger), the game will take Lesser Orbs (weaker) and the player character will be revived with 10% of their Vigor. This will make it so the player has a chance to win a battle, even if they die once or twice. Orbs are RARE and hard to come by, and Lesser Orbs are very costly so I think this is a good change to make everyone happy. I may change the Orbs and Lesser Orbs to heal a base amount + the percentages too.



The good news is that I'm taking a short break from my schooling for the next term (8 weeks) and then getting back to it. During that time, I'm going to be focusing on the game's development and have a lot of time to make some really big steps toward's finishing the game up. It's be something like 7-8 semesters that I've been going non stop, so I thought this would be a good self-health care idea and also give me time to work on my project which I'm VERY excited about.

My break from school/devoted time for Lawless Lands technically started a day ago when I finished my current classes and term but I am taking the weekend off for myself and to spend some time with my family. I'll begin working again on the game starting Monday, Aug 26.
