Valheim News

Valheim is now on Mac!

Today we’re happy to announce that Valheim is officially available for Mac! This is something that people have asked about ever since we launched into Early Access, and we’re glad to say that it’s finally time. Once again we’ve had the help of Piktiv, who have handled the port while we were continuing to focus on the Ashlands update.

The Mac version of course supports full crossplay with other platforms, and you can purchase your copy either via Steam or via the Mac App Store.

We won’t keep you with a longer announcement than this, so we just want to leave you with a brand new trailer, made specifically for the Mac release:

Patch 0.218.16 (Public Test)

⚠️ Note: This update is for the Public Test branch of Valheim only, and may therefore be unstable!

Prior to launching this update to the Default version of the game, we want to have a chance to discover bugs and fine-tune the balancing to ensure the best game experience.

  • ACCESS: Right-click Valheim in your Steam library, then select ‘Properties’. In the new window, select ‘Betas’ and type in the code “yesimadebackups”. The Public Test branch should now be available for you to select. The PTB FAQ can be found here.

  • FEEDBACK: Please leave any feedback in the “#valheim-public-test” channel in our Discord or through the form on our website.

Please remember to be considerate towards players who are not participating in the Public Test, as some may prefer to avoid spoilers. As indicated by the access code, please ensure to create backups of your save files before playing.

Valheim gets a fiery rebirth as Ashlands biome goes live with new siege weapons, bone spiders and boiling seas

Do you love the smell of napalm in the morning? If so, you'll probably love the smell of Valheim's Ashlands biome, which has just launched for all players after a period of beta testing. Sadly, my computer is incapable of producing smells beyond a faint reek of encrusted pasta sauce and regret, but if it did, I imagine I'd even now be basking in the aroma of burning bone and feather, because that is what the 10 new creatures you'll meet in the Ashlands consist of, broadly. Shout-out in particular for the monster that resembles a combusting sink clog with spider legs. Very Possum-esque.

Valheim finally gets the long-awaited Ashlands update with new biomes, creatures, crafting materials, mechanics, and more

Iron Gate Studios has released the long-awaited Ashlands update for its Viking survival game, Valheim.

It’s available now for PC, but unfortunately, there are currently issues with the Microsoft and Xbox versions of Valheim, so there will be a slight delay in getting the update for those; however, the current version on Xbox Flight is the same as the version coming to live, so crossplay will still be possible between Xbox Flight and default Steam games.

That said, the Ashlands update is a feature-rich patch that comes with various fixes and improvements along with new mechanics, creatures, crafting materials, craftable items, build pieces and furniture, food and positions, new locations, events, lore, music, terrain changes, a new Forsaken power, and more.
