Season IV: Blood of the Empire coming July 2020

The army of the Anadolou Empire marches north. Their numbers are legion, their battle prowess is beyond measure, and their sights are set on total dominion. A new power is rising, and it will not stop until the old world yields to it. Contend with the might of an empire in Season IV: Blood of the Empire, coming to Conqueror’s Blade as a free update in July 2020!

Season IV is heavily influenced by the rich history and culture of Turkey, especially during the rule of the Ottoman Empire. Throughout the season, you will discover new battlegrounds where his majesty Sultan Fatih Suleyman IV of the Anadolou Empire will make his stand, and the units, weapons, and armour that form the blood of his realm.

Get ready to siege and slay your way across two new maps created especially for Siege Battles and Field Battles! Inspired by the nigh-impregnable city of Constantinople and the Golden Horn in Istanbul, these battlegrounds are important strategic footholds to the Sultan, and may prove critical in his campaign to lay claim to the prized Conqueror’s City.

The Anadolou Empire employs patient and methodical tactics when waging war. Two new deployable items will help you fight like these warriors from the south: use Powder Kegs to blow your enemies’ defences wide open, or slow their advance with Barricades. Four new units can also be unlocked via Seasonal Challenges: musketeers, halberdiers, swordsmen, and cavalry units are all ready to fight for the Sultan’s cause! Deploy these soldiers and items to tackle the new ongoing Campaign, plus more Weekly Challenges as the season progresses.

Also launching with Season IV, the new Battle Pass will be packed with over 100 levels of rewards, including season-exclusive cosmetics, valuable items, and a special currency that can be exchanged for 11 unique, Turkish-themed weapon skins. Make sure you buy your Battle Pass in-game or from MY.GAMES Market to unlock instant rewards when Season IV is available!

Season IV: Blood of the Empire will be released as a free update in July 2020. Player tournament: 2v2 Rix Tournament (EU West 2)

The Francs Alliance, one of the oldest and largest alliances active on the EU West 2 server, is organising a 2v2 player tournament for all players, regardless of nationality or language. The aim is to put aside old feuds for a while, come together and enjoy an epic show of strength!

The hope is to bring together more than a hundred competitors and have them fight across several days - how long will depend on how many people sign up! You can check out the rules, planned competition dates and sign up for combat via the competition’s Discord channel.

Our thanks to the organisers - and to those planning to do battle, good luck!

Creator Spotlight: BraveBoar

As an advocate for new players, BraveBoar recognised the benefits of the Imperial Restorationist system pretty early on. He saw that legions and cohorts were a good way for players to advance their understanding of Conqueror’s Blade without the distraction of inter-house politics and alliance diplomacy getting in the way.

Streaming for three years now, BraveBoar says it is his aim “to help as many people as possible and to build a community based on that.” That community being the ‘cohort community’, an affiliation of players that prefer the rigid simplicity of what are ostensibly NPC houses and alliances, whose only aim is to unite their home regions. A decorated member of the Ungverijan Legion, BraveBoar has been actively bringing together like-minded players from all corners of the in-game globe. “We now we have a self-sufficient [cohort] community in almost all the in-game regions,” he says.
“Conqueror’s City by far the best map. It is so much more unique compared to the other maps and it's a much larger battlefield as well.”
BraveBoar’s streams tend to focus on taking players through battles, such as pillaging Rebel Camps and taking part in sieges and Territory Wars: “Standard gameplay from the cohort perspective,” he says. “Players are always welcome to pop in and ask questions about the game or ask for help, but we also have a lot of events like training camps or regional cohort parades.”

An important part of BraveBoar’s content is the Imperial Restorationists Discord channel, which is often as much a part of his streams as he is himself. “I start off my day by asking if anyone needs any help, either in the cohort’s Discord that we set up or in the actual cohorts alliance chat - and if there’s anyone in current [in-game] chat who needs help as well.” Later, once he’s completed his in-game chores, BraveBoar reaches out to local player-run houses to find “ways we can improve the new player experience in the region.”

It probably says something about BraveBoar that his favourite in-game moment was when his and other cohorts fought to defend the Conqueror’s City during the climax of Season II, partly because it quickly became his favourite map, but mostly because it brought so many players together. “It was really amazing to see groups from every region come to a central point and go up against the best players in the game,” he says.

BraveBoar is similarly impressed by the content creation community, especially the efforts of two people in particular. “Cobra Commander has some pretty awesome energy and crazy skill in the game, and Hjulstad, because he is really friendly and is trying to improve the new player experience on the EU side of the game.”

The existence of a community within a community - to talk to fellow creators and have access to game resources - has been a real boon, says BraveBoar, allowing him to focus on his areas of expertise while letting others concentrate on theirs - without, of course, the distraction of rivalry getting in the way.

Season III campaign: Conqueror’s City changes

We are tightening the rules that govern the right to attack the Conqueror’s City, to ensure that only the most successful houses and alliances can seek to claim it.

As was the case during Season II, you have to be a member of a house to join the fight and, to challenge for the city itself, you must as a group first control one of its surrounding gate fiefs. In addition for Season III, alliances must have at least 6000 Influence and be in control of at least one fief (besides a gate) elsewhere in the Borderlands to be able to challenge for its capitol. Also, be aware that once war is declared on the city, a house cannot leave its alliance to join another until Territory War is concluded.

Members of Cohorts and Legions (ranked Decanos / Patrol Leader and above) will be able to take part in battles for the Conqueror’s City and its gates, but only to defend them - not to attack. Player units will not lose Unit Kits in defence of the realm.

As for individual battles for the gate fiefs and the Conqueror’s City, the ruling house will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis - unless the defence is NPC controlled. Subsequently, there will now only be a single battleline, which should smaller groups to challenge for the city during each Territory War.

Regardless of whether the battle is won or lost, after the fight, the Ruling House will be passed to the house next in line. (Note: This only applies for battles for the Conqueror’s City and its gates.)

Securing the city is one thing, but being crowned as its lord and protector is the ultimate aim - and one that will be more challenging during Season III. For, as well as capturing and holding the city, the winning alliance will need to keep hold of some of its other territories in order to maintain an Influence of at least 25,000. The Conqueror’s City will be worth 20,000, but those that pour all their resources into its capture by leaving homelands unguarded might not enjoy as decisive a victory as hoped.

As well as the above changes for participation, the rewards for taking part in the conquest of the Conqueror’s City have also been adapted. We’ll be detailing those very soon!
