Those who say the pen is mightier than the sword probably haven’t had a nodachi waved at them. However, when it comes to delivering the first blow in a war, words can certainly be devastating. We’d like you to underscore how much by writing a declaration of war and entering it into our Scribe Week Writing Contest, with Sovereigns and Premium Account time going to the victors! 

Your note of intent should be addressed specifically to the Sultan of Anadolou, who is currently trying to oust Sicanian forces from Reginopolis. Try to keep your word count below 450 or it won’t qualify. Also, be sure to grab His Excellency's attention with your witty and original turn of phrase, else your efforts will be dismissed as idle or insignificant. Oh, and make sure your war declaration arrives before 12:00 (CEST) on September 4, as the Sultan has numerous engagements to attend to after that date and won’t be able to get back to you!

Rules

• Please make your declaration against the Anadolou Empire.  
• Entries must be submitted in a supported language (English, French, German, Spanish, Turkish, or Russian).
• Entries must not exceed 450 words.
• Only entries submitted before September 4, 2020 at 12:00 CEST will be accepted.
• Entries can be submitted to the contest Discord channel. We reserve the right to ask for further evidence to prove that your entry was created by you.
• Please include your character name and server alongside your submission.
• Entries cannot contain any material that violates the MY.GAMES Terms of Service.
• Any and all players are subject to disqualification at any point before, during, and after this competition for violating the Terms of Service or any of the contest rules.
• The best entries will be determined by the Conqueror’s Blade team, and winners will be announced on the Conqueror’s Blade website after the contest has ended.
• Your entry cannot feature any copyrighted or third-party material. Only entries featuring original writing, or writing inspired by Conqueror’s Blade will be considered.
• You agree that your entry can be used by My.com and MY.GAMES for promotional purposes (for example, for publication on our official social channels or websites).

Despite intense efforts to breach the walls of Reginopolis, the enemy flag continues to mock the Anadolu forces by waving from the high walls of the main keep.

Knowing that time is running out if his army is to march into the Borderlands before the campaign season ends, the Sultan has been devising a new strategy to secure the city: one even bolder than the use of siege engineers to tunnel beneath its walls.

Instead of superior troops, the Sultan is hoping sheer force of numbers will invite victory. However, this has meant diverting the bulk of his army back towards Reginopolis, via a route that requires his forces to, not only secure dangerous waters and attempt a beach landing, but to do so at night, then to quickly press inland taking their ships and equipment with them!

Desperate times would seem to necessitate desperate measures...

A second front has opened up in the battle to liberate Reginopolis, as the forces of Anadolu seek to reinforce a faltering attack by surrounding the city first. Meanwhile, under cover of night, the defence has moved out to try to halt the disaster of encirclement.

For both sides By Land and Sea is effectively a Siege, played out across the darkened peninsula of a Field Battle. The attackers can elect to drive through the centre of the map, using a wedge of concentrated force to secure each capture point or utilise the side routes to assault each at their flanks.

A successful defence must be equally focused on the centre-ground as the assault inevitably creeps north, but will enjoy equal opportunity to harry and counterattack down the sides of the map. As such, the side that first finds and then presses home its advantage will be the one best placed to ready itself as the next phase of this epic battle draws near!

Please be aware that from 8:00 CEST on August 20 (11pm PDT, 8/19), the Conqueror’s Blade servers will be inaccessible. The downtime is expected to last for 4 hours.
