Download the Free Pre-Season Update Today!

Your conquests help to shape this world, and as a result, Conqueror’s Blade has evolved once again. The Pre-Season Update is now live! This new update lays the groundwork for Season I: Seize the Crown, with a host of new features, improvements, and fixes. Let’s take a look at all the latest awesome content that’s waiting for you.

All Weapon Options Unlocked
No more restrictions, no more limits. You can now enjoy the full range of 20 different weapon options for both your male and female warlord characters! Female warlords can now wield the Poleaxe, Bow, and Spear weapons, and male warlords can wield the Shortbow and Dual Blades.

Revamped User Interface and Graphical Enhancements
Menus and gameplay interfaces have been completely revamped, and are now sleeker, and more accessible and intuitive with the latest update! The world of Conqueror’s Blade also looks even better than before thanks to some extra shine and polish.

War Scholar System
This feature allows you to use a special resource for a chance to earn items like Doctrines and Signaculum (more on those further down this article)! This resource can be earned through gameplay, and certain special events and promotions.

Doctrine System
Doctrines are items that can be applied to your units to give them stat boosts, and additional effects to improve their battle potential. Martial Souls cannot be reused once equipped, but they can be replaced.

Signaculum System
This intriguing new system allows you to gather Signacula, mysterious fragments which can be assembled to craft a new unit, or give additional XP to existing units. Different units require different amounts of Signacula – which units will you make to reinforce your armies?

Updated Ranking System
Looking for more ways to prove your mettle on the battlefield? We’ve streamlined the ranking system so you can better show off your military prowess, and see tangible results and rewards based on your contributions to battles, wins and losses, and other criteria.

Reworked Onboarding and Training for New Players
Make sure your blade is sharp, your skills honed, and your senses keen before jumping into battle with smoother, improved training that fully explores all aspects of the game.

New World Map Features
You can now see at-a-glance which nation holds the most power, which should give you some additional incentive to put them in their place…

Matchmaking Improvements
We’ve reworked matchmaking, which should provide a significant improvement for players partaking in Field Battles!

Season I: Seize the Crown coming soon
In this land, war is an endless cycle. This update helps to lay the groundwork for Seasons, massive new in-game events where you can fight for the glory of your name and your House, and also earn exclusive cosmetics and items. Muster your armies, and prepare to Seize the Crown when Season I kicks off!

Pre-Season Update Patch Notes

Please note that only major new gameplay additions are listed below. For the full patch notes, including extensive optimisations and other changes, please visit the Conqueror's Blade website.

Doctrines

A Doctrine is an item that can be applied to your units (via the U interface) to provide them with powerful battlefield abilities, these can be acquired through the new War Scholar interface. Units can only have up to five active Doctrine at a time. By replacing one, an old Doctrine is permanently lost. Unwanted Doctrines can be dismantled for a chance of getting new ones through the War Scholar interface.

Signacula

A Signaculum is an item that gives a 5% discount to the Honour cost of unlocking a random unit. Up to 20 can be used (by right-clicking or via the Unit screen - press U) to reduce the Honour cost to zero. There are two types of Signacula, blank and unit-specific, which can be obtained via the new War Scholar interface.

War Scholar

The War Scholar is a new NPC located in capital cities, accessible to level 12 Warlords and above. The War Scholar interface can also be accessed by pressing X. The War Scholar is able to seek out Signacula (to reduce the Honour cost of unlocking new units) at the cost of one Battle Relic, and Doctrines (used to increase a unit's abilities), at the cost of one Treatise.

Warlord Gender Unlock

Weapon types are no longer restricted by your character's gender. Male and female characters can now use all weapon types. The following content has been added:
  • Female Spears
  • Female Poleaxes
  • Female Longbows
  • Male Dual Blades
  • Male Shortbows

Map guide: Hidden City (Siege)

Looks can be deceptive, but Hidden City isn’t anything of the sort. What you see is what you get: the line of attack is simple and the imposing defences are in direct opposition to it. May the best side win!

HISTORY

In the hope that those that covet it wouldn’t bother looking for it, Hidden City is among a small club of towns, cities and even entire countries that have been named in the hope of deterring would-be conquerors. The theory, it’s assumed, is that if Hidden City was so hard to find, why should anyone bother looking for it in the first place? Thus, left alone, its rulers hoped they would also be left in peace.

The ruse worked, for a while. Inevitably, however, word began to spread that Hidden City wasn’t just easily located, it was easily taken. The subsequent owner quickly learnt the lesson of its predecessor; by lining the battlements with a more substantial deterrent than the previous occupant had thought to rely on.

SCOUTING REPORT

Hidden City maintains a low profile, which means it lacks a dominating presence in the landscape. Its walls are low and wide, its layout is largely square and grid-based, and, once-breached, there are almost no raised defensive positions within the city walls. However, being small and almost symmetrical means troops can quickly support one another without losing their bearings. More importantly, before the final control point is taken, the attackers have to first get past the main gates and its sentry-like guns.

PLAN OF ATTACK
  • Your attacking options are limited when it comes to taking the main gate at point A. You can attack from the front, against which are ranged a number of heavy cannon - more than is usual for a siege map - or, you can attempt to breach the side walls. In either case, the defenders will always be difficult to prize out. If you do attempt a frontal assault, try to take out as many cannons as possible before the main attack begins.
  • Because point A is probably the easiest position to defend, and because it is so fundamental to any attack, it’s easy to lose the initiative and to keep blindly attacking in the hope the enemy will eventually fall. Inevitably it will, but to hasten it you need to broaden the front line so that the besieged units are being attacked from as many sides as possible, which will have the added effect of neutralising any attempts at reinforcement.
  • Ironically, there is no place to hide for either side in Hidden City, so don’t expect any surprise attacks from within the city walls. However, the relatively long and straight streets are surprisingly good terrain for all unit types, including cavalry. Just because you need to be direct in your attacks, doesn’t mean the defenders will play to the same script. Just when you think a control point is about to become yours is when it’s most likely to slip from your grasp.
DEFENSIVE MEASURES
  • Whatever strategy you adopt, the main objective should be to hold control point A for as long as possible. Stationing the majority of your units and warlords on or around the gatehouse battlements is an obvious tactic that should have the desired effect. However, it may be an idea to keep the battlements uncluttered with a larger force in reserve - one that’s ready to reinforce the main position when needed. This could take the form of heavy infantry at the gates or a more mobile-infused cavalry force patrolling the two flanks. This would give any enemy hoping to attack your rear some cause for concern.
  • The attack is going to be focused on progressing from point A to B and then to C in a fairly direct route. The inner terrain will help such an advance, but equally, it allows you to direct lightning-fast counterattacks and calvary changes that, at worst, will slow the attackers down. If you can harang and harass with mobile units while shepherding the main attack to a standstill, all will not be lost.
