How to join the BETA:

Go to your Steam Library and right-click on Killsquad. From there, follow the next steps:

Now you will have the option to select the "beta - Beta Channel" on the beta programs! (if for any reason you can't find the beta program, try restarting Steam).

How to make a report:

Even though it is not necessary to follow all the guidelines, this format would help us to grasp all the necessary information in the shortest amount of time. A summary of the error is a must.

The Killsquad 1.0 update is here! On this last step on our journey through the Early Access, we've focused on polish and a few on demand mechanics:

"Recovery" has been added to the game by popular demand, "Recovery" is a new mechanic where after being knocked back you can get up into the fight again faster, so you can avoid those nasty moments of knockback after knockback, a short opportunity to get back up by reacting at the right moment and to keep the frenzy of the battle!

The economy of the game has been tweaked, balancing a bit the importance of the shop leaning more towards contract rewards with the new "ambush chest" where you can earn rare loot and balancing the rewards for some contracts to smooth the progression through all difficulties!

Single player balance! All contracts from recruit, Veteran and Plague contracts received a balance on time and difficulties, now the progression curve should be smoother. But don't worry, there is still some more harsh contracts for those seeking greater challenges!

WASTELAND 7A received its last flavor asset pack, the laboratory theme is added to the world, giving its unique identity to the world as a post nuclear planet!

And many more such as polishing, more balance and bug fixing, a lot of bug fixing!

RECOVERY

By popular demand, we've added a Recovery mechanic to the game. You have a small window of opportunity to get up back into the fight!

General

· Added the new Recovery mechanic. to use it, press the "Dash" key/button (Space bar by default with a keyboard), as soon as your character touches the floor when receiving a knockback. Your character will recover and it won't consume any Dash charge.

When the character is knocked back has a chance to get back up quickly:



Keep in mind that the window of opportunity is small (as shown with a different color in the next image), less than a second, so you will need to time it well and get skilled to be able to perform the Recovery.



· Added a Recovery animation for Troy.
· Added a Recovery animation for Kosmo.
· Added a Recovery animation for Cass.
· Added a Recovery animation for Zero.
· Added a Recovery animation for Ekaar.

ECONOMY TWEAKS

The economy of the game has been tweaked, with intentions of leaning more towards contract rewards than a shop buy item rush, specially players without too many resources, with the new "ambush chest" where you can earn rare loot and balancing the rewards for some contracts to smooth the progression through all difficulties to avoid needing grinding in certain parts of the contract progression.

General

· Added the new "Ambush Chest" mechanic. You can find special chests inside a contract, when opened you will face an ambush but not without reward: a rare piece of equipment!
· Modified all recruit rewards, now the contracts rewards the player with two pieces of equipment at the end of it.
· Modified the rewards at the loot chests from Veteran Contracts, now they can drop gadgets as well.

SINGLE PLAYER BALANCE

The map received a rework to give a more organic aesthetics to the planet, giving the map a more unique identity with a new biome. The intention is to make the player feel that he's walking over a living creature.

Recruit

· Knockin' On Heavens Door: Reduced the quantity of Medium enemies and increased the lifedrop drop chance.
· Doors Wide Shut: Augmented the percentage of enemies at the beginning of the contract by 20%
· Overprotection: Reduced the damage for the Enraged Myr. Only for this contract.
· The Dirty Work: The shield of the vehicle is augmented from 20000 to 25000.
· Hunted Hunter: Added a widget to the traps to better help players escape it.
· Crazy About Jade: The duration of the first Jade extraction reduced by 25 seconds. Now a vendor will always spawn between the first and second Jade Extraction.
· Pest Control: You win more XP during the contrat to reach faster the 10th level.
· A Hard Nut To Crack: Reduced the quantity of enemies at the firsts possible paths and augmented the XP gain.
· Hail To The Queen: Now you always will find 2 elite enemies, one at the begining and one at the end.
· Codename Guerrilla: Augmented the lifedrop drop chance.
· Augmented the lifedrop chance when you are at 10% and 20% of you HP to all recruit contracts.

Veteran

· Arachnophilia?: Is now a vector 90 contract and the rewards are from vector 100.
· Cleaning is my thing: Is now a vector 90 contract and the rewards are from vector 100.
· My humble abode: Is now a vector 90 contract and the rewards are from vector 100.
· The profane: Is now a vector 100 contract and the rewards are from vector 110.

Plague

· Plague Doors Wide Shut: Is now a vector 80 contract and the rewards are from vector 90.
· Plague A Hard Nut To Crack: Is now a vector 80 contract and the rewards are from vector 90.
· Plague Crazy About Jade: Is now a vector 80 contract and the rewards are from vector 90.
· Plague Hunted Hunter: Is now a vector 90 contract and the rewards are from vector 100.
· Plague Codename Guerrilla:Is now a vector 90 contract and the rewards are from vector 100.

General

· Added particles to different mechanics such as the Vampiric Link to further increase the feedback to the player.
· Added a 3D UI to the trap at "HUNTED HUNTER" to further increase the feedback to the player.
· Added a warning to the infinite wave at "POPULAR REQUEST" contract to further increase the feedback to the player.
· Added more minor changes and tweaks to balance some segments of contracts.
· Now you can have only 2 lifedrops at the floor at the same time, a third will not spawn until you use the others.

WASTELAND 7A FLAVOR PACK 2

The map recieved it's last flavor asset pack, the laboratory theme is added to the world with a total of a new 125 assets contributing to the feeling of a desolate planet.

General

· Added 14 floor assets.
· Added 3 new shadebars assets.
· Added 5 new watchtowers assets.
· Added 1 new Light prop assets.
· Added 1 new Alien structure assets.
· Added 1 new SM box assets.
· Added 6 new prison tubes assets.
· Added 21 new scaffolding assets.
· Added 53 new generic assets (trashbags, papers, lab equipment etc..).
· Added 2 new barrels assets to the "LAST BASTION" theme.
· Added 7 new cables assets to the "LAST BASTION" theme.
· Added 1 new concrete assets to the "LAST BASTION" theme.
· Added 6 new fences assets to the "LAST BASTION" theme.
· Added 5 new metal plates assets to the "LAST BASTION" theme.
· Added 5 new silos assets to the "LAST BASTION" theme.
· Added 5 new materials to different assets.


AUDIO

· Added new attack voice lines to all characters.
· Added a voice line to all characters when they are ready at the lobby.
· Added all the new voice actor to Cass and Kosmo. Now all the characters have all the voice lines from the voice actor.
· Added a new ducking/sidechain system allowing all voice lines of characters, NPC's and contracts to be priority over combat sounds allowing the player to hear even in the most intense fights.
· Added a new ducking/sidechain system, giving priority to the character sounds and voices over the enemy.
· Added a new sound for the Ambush chest.
· Added a new sound for the Leave/Disband party.
· Added a new sound for the secondary gear "Kormos4994".
· Modified and improved some attack and weapon sounds.
· Balanced all the attack, movement and voice sounds of all character.
· Improved the randomization of the attack voices.

LIGHTNING

· Modified all the main menu lightning to change the mood and character visualization.
· Improved render target on the profile menu.

GENERAL

· Added destructible assets to all planets. Now all the maps of Killsquad should have destructible assets.
· Added a shrinking animation to the DNA drops when they are about to disappear.
· Added the possible rewards that can be earned in a contract at the contract card, so players can check and decide before going into a contract.
· Added the maximum vector item that the player can be rewarded in a contract at the contract card, so players can check and decide before going into a contract.
· Added more keyboard bindings to allow players without a QWERTY keyboard to play normally.
· Modified to upper case, the "press any button to continue" for clarity.
· Modified cursor speed while using a controller.
· Modified the life ability feedback from the "ALPHA DOLEM" to give consistent feedback to the player.

BUG FIXING

Crashes:

· Fixed a crash that might occur when picking the green explosive balls at "CODENAME GUERRILLA".
· Fixed a crash that might occur when doing a hold area mission.
· Fixed a crash that might occur in the coliseum.

Major Issues

· Fixed a major bug where the navigation between menus are blocked if you equip a gadget or a talisman.
· Fixed a major bug where the ranged characters could get blocked if you swapped guns while shooting.
· Fixed a major bug where the loot chest rewards were wrong when opening automatically as a client.
· Fixed a major bug where the loot chest rewards could give the same gear or a lower vector gear.
· Fixed a major bug where the traps at the "PALACE OF PAIN" were not rendering for clients.
· Fixed a major bug where the player could not see other players when teleported to the boss area.
· Fixed a major bug where the second part of the "THE PLAGUE IS HERE" quest was not completed at plague contracts.

- Are you planning of adding a random matchmaking system with filters in the future? And is there room to enhance the multiplayer experience? Like when a person disconnects, make it possible to reconnect or when a host disconnects, migrate to another host?


We do not plan to add a matchmaking filter system to the game or to add new functionality to the multiplayer experience. Our roadmap is set at the moment.

No, but we will be adding more cosmetics to further increase the customization of your characters.

Yes, they will have a use at the endgame. You will need to discover the use of the keys there. So keep in touch to future updates to know more about it.

- How will events like Christmas or Halloween work in the future? If I'm correct, you had to do manual updates to the client, but obviously you won't be able to do that all the time.

We are working on a system to make those events to trigger automatically or semiautomatically at the start date of the event.

- Any chance you can fix the unreal client crash reports which eat up memory and cpu usage after an hour?

- I hope inferno isn't plague contracts 2.0 (reusing old content to create the facade of adding endgame content)

The Inferno contract difficulty is still in the design process, and it can change until the release of the feature, so we can’t say much about it at the moment. Keep in touch to future dev-diaries to discover more about it.

- Might wanna have a look at the shop manual refresh as 90% of the time it refresh random stats of the same previous weapon items.

We are aware of this issue, we are working to fix the problem.

- Optimization needs a hard pass (more than likely linked to the unrealclient pop ups that cause memory leaks/heavy cpu load)

We are working on game optimization the best we can, we hope the changes we are doing will fix most of the problems on performance the game has right now.

- Achievements: 39/156 achievement unlocked. 117 of these new ones are broked as I tested; Committed to The Plague - Equip Plague-themed Weapon, Prototype Gear, and Support Gear on a character. All that does is unlock a portrait profile picture.

They were a work in progress, in the last update they were released and are available and working to all players. Take a look at the patch notes on discord or steam to know more about the state of the game.

- Troy's joker weapon doesn't trigger as much as it should. For someone shooting so fast (especially with 40% speed increase) not getting a single proc is weird. A 15% chance should trigger maybe like every 20th shot at most. But instead it feels more like every 100th shot. Compare that to mjolnir from kosmo, his weapon triggers almost every 5th hit when having the same chance but he's also slower. Sounds like a bug to me.

We are aware of the issue, we are working on it right now.

- Thoughts on increasing suppoer/prototype slots? A question of builds but would require a lot harder challenge to support these kind of builds.
- Will we be able to upgrade the vector of our equipment?
- We have Skill preset, can we have gear presets?


Not in the near future. Our roadmap is set for the release and the endgame update. But we will take your suggestions into consideration after we finish the current roadmap.

- Do you plane to add a matchmaking or a in-game friend list to re-find more easily our teammate?

It will not be implemented into the game, but you can check who played with you recently on Steam or even use the join game via a Steam friend.

- Do you plan to add new environments, enemies, weapon effect, etc....after release?

We will give priority to the goals on our current roadmap. After that, it can be possible in the future.

- do you plan to add more cinematic like the intro to extend your universe?


We do not have plans to do so at the moment.

- Can you make an invincibility window when your character gets knocked up? Some enemies can just spam you with hits and you can't stand up and just die :D

As a tease for the release, we’ve made a mechanic to get back into your feet after being knocked down. You will be able to test it at the beta that is coming soon or at the 1.0 release update. We hope you like it.

- Are you going to add a player hub? Where we can go around and buy things, meet people and get missions.

It is not in our plans right now.

- What is about all the resources which are not used yet like radioactive mushrooms, kem-crystals, etc?


We are aware of some resources without a use in the game that were added at the beginning of the early access. We do not have plans to use them to create new content, they might get removed, or you might get a reward in credits. Furthermore, we are still discussing the outcome. Keep in touch to future dev diaries as we will inform you of what will happen to them.


- Will there be another currency like "Jade" in future? Because it's such a precious material with no value in this world.

Not at the moment. Our priority is to complete the goals of the roadmap, what comes in the future is unknown.

- I remember for completing a quest (the skua update) we got a chest, but never received it, will it come and be opened with the keys and if so, you already know what we can expect from its content?

The chest was a reward from a quest at the beginning of the Early access. It contained reputation of faction. We’ve changed how the faction's leveling works. Instead of getting a chest, you get the reputation directly.

- You probably mentioned this already, but what happen with the plague-sided locked contracts?

Unfortunately, they were destroyed by the plague and are not accessible anymore.

- When is the next beta-update and can u tell us more about the fullrelease-date and the major changes that will come with it (e.g. an ingame-store).

Soon there will be an announcement with the date of the next beta branch and the release. We will announce it by Steam and Discord, so stay put to not miss the opportunity.

- Did you consider enabling all the power ups you equip since start of the level so you don't need to level up through the mission since when you made the perk changes is pointless locking em behind unlocks and levels inside the mission.

We will focus on our roadmap right now. Unfortunately, adding new quests or maps are not in it. But we will think about that depending on the performance of the game at the release.

It is not in our plans right now. If the game perform really well at the release, it is probable that we could do what you suggest.

- Why does Novarama like environmental hazards so much that they even make player character themselves an environmental hazard?
(I've re-installed the game, played few games in "veteran" 60+ range, there were few modifiers which turned player into hazards for others - as in you could not be near/far from another player or you'll both lose health - it was disgusting, the game was uninstalled)


We are sorry you don’t like the environmental hazards, Killsquad is dark and full of terrors, it can be a dangerous place sometimes were you can find many things...

Ekaar is a different character, it might need more time to discover its full potential. In any case, we are doing balancing to further improve the game experience with all characters.

- Would you consider allowing the saving of cosmetic layouts with the different skill presets, so a certain set of cosmetics is tied to a player defined preset build?

We’ve tried to increase the experience with a controller in the last update, we might do another iteration in the future. The system will not change, but we will try to make it more comfortable for controller users.

We do not have plans at the moment.

- Do you plan to add more bad actor characters(to assassinate) nemesis boss system ish (so much could be tied to this in an interesting more interesting way from gear acquisition to skills and materials)

We do not plan to add new enemies or mechanics to them. Maybe in the future.

- Do you plan to add "forge" crafting or up the acquisition by like 10

Another tease for the release. We’ve improved the loot you can get in a contract for the release update, keep an eye on the announcement to know more about it. After that in the endgame update there will be legendary weapons that you will be able to customize your perks.

- Do you play to add evens where big boss with the bois rolls in town and we have to ♥♥♥♥ him up as a community (not a raid, just how much ass whopping the can take) Grinch for xmas

There are no plans to add these kinds of events for killsquad.

Not at the current roadmap. But we might think about after the release. Depending on how killsquad perform.

New Achievements Update!

WAHLA Corp is proud to announce that a new update is ready for you to download. This time we have added dozens upon dozens of new Steam Achievements for you to unlock. If you've managed to get all the achievements so far, then from today there are an additional 111 new ones waiting for you to collect.

117 new achievements come to killsquad, 4 of them are hidden and will need to be discovered in order to unlock them. The achievements **are retroactive**, so a veteran player will unlock any achievement they met the requirements for at the first login after the patch. This is the last achievements update before release!

Recruit Contractor: Complete all Recruit contracts.
Veteran Contractor: Complete all Veteran contracts.
Spec. Ops. Contractor: Complete all Spec. Ops. contracts.
Plague Contractor: Complete all Plague contracts.
Lost in Space: Find all the blackboxes aboard the wrecked spaceship.
Explosively Flavorful: Give BAB all the ingredients for his 'soup'.
Recruit Blacksmith: Craft all Recruit talismans.

With the new weekend around the corner, the WAHLA Corporation would like to reward you with two new emotes: Thank You and Rest. We at WAHLA care for your wellbeing and promotes the expression of “feelings”*. So grab them and use them wisely and within regulations.

To keep you in the loop on how Killsquad is progressing, we want to show you a little sneak peek of things that we are currently working on. Our next big update is coming, and with it, we will add new Steam Achievements.

We don’t want to spoil the fun, but we can say that we will add a lot of them to the game. Like, a LOT. So Hunters, get into training and in the future, set some time aside. What crazy shenanigans will you need to do to get them? How many of them will actually be added to the game? And how many things need to be exploded to get them in the first place? Those questions will be answered by your WAHLA Corporation representative real soon.
