We are happy to reveal today a May 17, 2022, Steam launch date for “Distant Places” — the all-new DLC coming to our survival city-builder Endzone - A World Apart.
The Distant Places DLC brings new story missions, new buildings for settlement expansion, exotic and fruity new food items, and most importantly, a means for aerial travel.

Along with the release date announcement, we have revealed a batch of never-before-seen screenshots showcasing new environments awaiting you, the players.



In Distant Places, you can explore exotic, bountiful lands beyond the safety of your settlement's borders. Life in your settlement finally began to flourish in the preceding DLC, Prosperity, and now your survivors are ready to set off on an air-balloon journey to discover the “distant places” their legends speak of.






[h3]About Distant Places DLC[/h3]
Distant Places centuries after settlers managed to regain a foothold on the surface of Earth after having been in subterranean bunkers for over 150 years to escape a radioactive hellscape on the ground above. Featuring 12 narrative-driven expeditions, settlers of the “endzone” will fly to four unknown destinations far beyond their usual borders in search of other displaced survivors, new food items, and brand-new building blueprints, perfect for expanding settlements into (primitive) metropolises.

• A Story Untold: Experience 12 story-driven, large-scaled global expeditions that take you to four varied, yet unseen places of the world. Suited for only the most well-equipped adventurers, they offer uncertain but very rewarding outcomes.
  
• Brick by Brick: Support and expand the settlement with new buildings by discovering blueprints during treacherous new expeditions.
  
• Beyond the Mysterious Beyond: Driven by an insatiable quest for knowledge and resources, settlers can take to the skies aboard their purpose-built hot air balloon in search of new opportunities.
  
• Exotic Seeds!: Give the gift of scurvy prevention, by letting settlers experience the unique tastes and merits of six all-new exotic seeds like coconuts and bananas.

The Earth Appreciation Festival on Steam has started, and we are part of it!
Starting right now, for the duration of Steam's Earth Appreciation Festival, when you buy a Standard- or Save The World Edition of our survival citybuilders Endzone – A World Apart, or Sphere – Flying Cities, we will save the world slightly more together.

[h3]You are traveling in your balloon to a location that is not noted on the old maps. A radio message drew our attention to this area. As you travel over the flooded lands, a small hill rises out of the water in the distance.[/h3]

Eli: "I can't believe it, but there seems to be someone living on that mountain in the middle of the water." Levi: "I doubt it. Just look how run down it is. This place is absolutely abandoned, isn't it? Places that aren't on the maps, we find everywhere by now, and we never run into anyone."

Jamie: "Yeah yeah, that is usually the case, but Eli is right this time. I could just make out a figure at the window through the telescope. A quick look won't hurt."



Lem is affectionate, chaotic and curious. He distrusts strangers, but is not afraid of new acquaintances. He is a lonely genius with a big affinity. Living on this island has certainly not done his mind any good over the years, but what he wants in life is quite clear… or is it?

We are really grateful to have so many passionate veteran survivors among us, while also welcoming new players each day! Only because of you, Endzone has not just grown out of Early Access successfully, but thanks to your ongoing dedication, feedback and ideas, we were even able to go beyond our initial vision. All this really means a lot to us, and with this post and the first anniversary of our full release, we also want to say a heartfelt “Thank You”! Without your support, this would not have been possible, and we are humbled to have such a loving community.

To celebrate, we made a little recap of some of our achievements and the road we travelled together, including some dev bloopers and pictures from the team.

Additionally, even while our Early Access has ended, we are glad to be able to extend what Endzone has to offer with our ‘Prosperity’ expansion and the soon-to-be-released DLC ‘Distant Places’. Not to mention the upcoming release to consoles in May!

[h2]The developer’s Journey – Recap of our ride![/h2]

As part of our one year Endzone full release anniversary, we would like to give you some behind the scenes impressions with a focus on our daily work situation, interesting happenings like fairs and award shows and last, but not least, development bloopers.

• January 2019: It has begun…
  • As the newest title by Gentlymad Studios, Endzone starts with an idea, laying the foundation for further concepts and the development of the game.
• November 2019: Announcement & first public presentation at EGX, Berlin
  • An early version was shown to the public and received heart-warming feedback from all kinds of gamers.
    
• The moment of truth: Endzone launched into Early Access on Steam on April 2, 2020
• Early Access in numbers:

  • 4 Community Previews and 20 hotfixes/smaller Patches
• The Journey continues:
  
  • Endzone launched into its Full Release, on March 18, 2021
  • Save the World-Edition: Soundtrack, Support of developers & One tree planted (Together with non-profit organization OneTreePlanted.org)
    
  • First Assemble game to offer a Save The World Edition while still in Early Access, thus fulfilling Assemble's motto of 'Saving the World. Game by Game' established.

[h3]Distant Places DLC heading to Steam[/h3]


It has been centuries since we started to regain our foothold on the surface of the earth.

Up to this day, we have strived to establish a flourishing haven, much more than just a shelter to withstand the harsh environment we find ourselves in.
It’s a place that provides safety, health care, education and even electricity, but most importantly, it’s a place everybody can call their home.

A place to pursue happiness. But even after reaching these important milestones and creating a new and healthy civilization, our people are still curious as to what lies ahead.

Being the pioneers they are, they want to reach out to other survivors and discover new and exciting places beyond the borders of the settlement. They want to uncover the Distant Places, far, far away, that so many legends speak of.

In this DLC, our focus is once again on expanding existing systems. In "Distant Places" you will be able to travel by hot air balloon to faraway areas that couldn't be more different from each other.

And you surely want to know what to find there, right? Well, every part of the earth is home to other plant species. For example, you can find coconuts and bananas on your journeys to foreign lands. If you return home safely and successfully from your trip, you'll be able to cultivate them in your settlement.

The console version, Survivor Edition, will introduce players to the world of Endzone, where they’ll be responsible for the last remaining settlement of humans who’ve emerged to the Earth’s surface following 150 years in underground bunkers to escape global destruction via nuclear holocaust.

Steeped in a world tainted by radiation poisoning following a worldwide nuclear disaster, Endzone - A World Apart: Survivor Edition tasks players with a monumental responsibility: build a civilization and maintain the wellbeing of Earth’s last remaining human colony. Players will use the tools at their disposal to build housing structures, develop a functioning electrical system, and maintain stable water and food supplies — just a few of the valuable resources required to support a thriving society. Unlike similar titles in the genre, Endzone won’t see players face off against ghastly ghouls and irradiated monstrosities. Instead, violent weather events, such as sandstorms and drought, as well as tribes of brutal raiders, are the violent forces that seek to destroy the settlement.
