Development update

[p]Hey Blacksmith's,[/p][p][/p][p]Just wanted to give an update on what's going on with the games and my life.[/p][p][/p]
The Failures
[p]Development unfortunately is going very slow because of low sales and other personal events that has crippled my ability to work for the past year. I was slated too get married last year and unfortunately those plans fell thru and I took a massive hit to my motivation and mental health. The bad decisions I made afterwards, too increase failing sales, by releasing the online version of the game and the push back from the community, forced me to re-evaluate everything. [/p][p]The bottom line is I can't work on the game full time anymore and I take full responsibility. The low sales unfortunately forced me to have to seek other ways to pay my bills and cope, so that I can continue feeding this crippling addiction to make this game. Fortunately, I'm very stubborn and have no desire to abandon this project and will find some way or another to work on it full time.[/p][p][/p]
The Vision
[p]I really enjoy the idea of playing as a background character, often overlooked, that supplements the hero with the tools to slay the big threat and achieve their goal. That is why I really enjoy working on My Little Blacksmith Shop. So that everyone that plays it can fulfill that desire as well. So I apologize to all of you that supported the project and purchased the game and hoped for more and maybe felt like you got less. For the rest of you that enjoyed it, I'm glad you did even with the bugs, glitches and missing features. However, I don't think I achieved the goal I set out but I very much would like to. Working as the sole developer is exceptionally challenging with a steep learning curve but of course rewarding when done right. Wearing multiple hats is a curse and a blessing. [/p][p]I would like to see, what I'm effectively calling My Little Blacksmith Shop 2, have a fully working online (and offline) feature, with a enjoyable crafting system that rewards you and encourages you to make better items. My vision for single player and multiplayer is to have players explore dungeons, new biomes and fight off unknown threats as they look for better resources to make better weapons to sell to their customers. I would say I'm about 30% there. Most of my time has been spent fixing bugs and navigating the complexities of Unreal Engine 5. Great engine but unwieldy at times.[/p][p][/p]
The Future
[p]My Little Blacksmith Shop 2, I don't think should go into early access on another Steam store page. At least not for the time being. I might keep things quiet, since I don't know what the future as in store with the project. I'll spend the money and time to complete it behind closed doors, if possible. Potentially looking into investors/publishers and hopefully open a studio and hire a few people too help me finish it as I believe there's untapped potential with this title. As for My Little Blacksmith Shop, it might see slow incremental fixes, as mentioned in a previous post but no new additions in the immediate future.[/p][p][/p][p]Ok! That's all from me. Once again, thank you for your support. [/p][p]Cheers.[/p][p][/p][p](Oh before I forget, I will be releasing the legacy version of My Little Blacksmith Shop some time this month, for free, for those that would like to take a trip down memory lane..)[/p]

Patch 0.1.2.056

Hey Blacksmith's,

I've updated the main branch (and Alpha) to 0.1.2.056.
0.1.2.049 has been moved to "Old Branch".
Patch Notes
• Fixed issues with custom orders generating strange item combinations.

 • The price of repairable items you choose to cancel will now be based on the value of individual components rather than a flat rate.
 • Fixed a missing guard entry in the Expedited Delivery Service (EDS).
 • Adjusted prices for grips and guards across the board. Weapon sale prices should now better reflect the cost of purchased parts from Geoffrey’s store or EDS.

 • Customers will no longer provide broken weapons if you lack the funds to purchase them after canceling an order while the weapon is in your possession.
 • Fixed an issue causing infinite plank spawns.
 • Removed the "Press any key to begin" requirement from the main menu screen.
 • Fixed infinite planks being generated on the cutting workbench.
 • Fixed EDS spawn location when purchasing a larger shop.

 • Removed the ingot option from the advanced smelter to prevent quality exploits. Ores must now be smelted into ingots using the basic smelter.
 • Increased customer wait time by 30 seconds when requesting a shield/weapon combo.
 • Fixed an issue where customers requesting a repair could be given a weapon with a different grip and guard than the original.
 • Fixed an issue where repaired weapon heads would no longer be recognized by customers if disassembled multiple times.
 • Fixed an issue preventing polearms from being recognized by customers.
 • Increased torch brightness in the shop.
