The next Celtreos patch is live!

New Setting “No Negative Items”

This new setting prevents all negative items from spawning in the game, which tends to make the game significantly easier to play.  (This includes all red-orb items like slow-down, destroy-weapon, reduce-range, reduce-power, zero-score, etc.)

Artwork Improvements

More artwork tweaks have been made, mostly noticeable on the title screen and in the first stage, “Colony Evacuation”.

Bug Fixes

A stage-related trophy was accidentally awarded by starting any game.  While this trophy will not be deleted as part of the fix, for new owners of the game it will now trigger under the correct conditions.

Also, while not strictly a bug, it could be confusing if external audio (such as Apple Music) was preventing music selections during the game so new explanatory text appears when game music is disabled.

Improved Performance

Game physics and other explosion effects have been modified to perform better in some situations.

Hit-Box Changes

Each of the 7 player ships has had its hit-box reevaluated to be slightly more accurate for the shape of the ship, and noticeably smaller in normal difficulty.  The hit-box area is also slightly larger when Hard difficulty is enabled (not bigger than before though).

Music Updates

The “Decoration”, “Acquisition” and “Evacuation” songs have all been improved slightly.

A big update to Celtreos!

New “Lateral” Weapon

A 5th sideways-class weapon, “Lateral”, has been added to the Plasma Series (and can be used in custom weapon arrays).  This fires modules above and below your ship that damage anything they touch, while also periodically firing forward or backward from the current locations of the modules.

Furthermore, this weapon has 5 variations because it fires your default-class weapon (Beam, Gun, Laser, Ring or Rocket)!  Some variants, like Beam, can produce substantially different covering fire.

New XP×4 Item

Similar to existing XP×2 but this item quadruples accumulated experience points for the current weapon.  It does not last long!

Minor Gameplay Updates

Power-ups now “stack” on the left side to an extent, if you pick up several of them at once.

The Razor weapon has been slightly modified to have a tighter firing range.

A problem with the physics of the Bumper has been fixed, that made the ship more vulnerable to regular fire (even though it was much less vulnerable to walls).

The UI has been tweaked so that buttons bound to the Return key have a slightly different style.

Soundtrack Improvement

Minor changes to the “Mystery” song (used in the “Dark Nebula” stage).

A big update to Celtreos!

Enhancements to “Jungle Cave”

The tree/wood artwork in this stage is now significantly more detailed.  Also, foreground logs that are obstacles are brighter so they are easier to avoid.  The stage layout has been tweaked in a few places.

Clouds You Can Shoot

In the “Dark Nebula” and “Orbital Defense” stages, certain clouds are now mostly opaque and can hide enemies and items, yet they are also vulnerable to weapons fire.  If you shoot at these clouds, you will see hit marks and they will eventually fade away to reveal what is in them.  Be careful, as hazards are active in the clouds whether you can see them or not!

Soundtrack Improvements

Certain songs have been tweaked, including “Establishment”, “Evacuation” and “Acquisition”.

Some noticeable artwork upgrades in the “Jungle Cave” stage.  Certain clouds can now be destroyed to reveal items in “Dark Nebula” and “Orbital Defense”.
