Update 52 Walk the plank! 05/14/2021

Alpha 52 is out!
I forgot to publish it after typing it sorry, the update was released on time and the next one will be released on the 28th
A foreword: We get feedback on the discord and we recently included a survey feature in the game for you to give us feedback on specific parts and you did, we had a ton of feedback and we are very grateful.
I don’t always answer on discord but I always read!
Answer to the Feedback:
Ability to change our keys: We will implement the ability for you to change your input settings, at least in a text file if not in the UI in the next update. (implementing Full controller support will take us more time)
More exploration in the maps: Message received we will create maps that reward exploration. We also had plans for exploration type fate encounters and they will be prepared soon.
Sound options (sliders for music, voice and sound effects): This will be added after we finish choosing the best audio solution for the game (we might go with Criware)
More weapons/mods: We’re on the same page! We do however want to implement all the main features and rules for conquest before working on that!
The loading times are pretty short. Except the one when opening the game: That’s true the first one can be pretty long, we are looking into that.
How do I use the units I obtained? : When entering a battle, you army should automatically be composed of a mix of all units in your armada. Unfortunately, due to an annoying bug it only deploys the base soldier unit. We are trying to fix it without breaking everything, it’s taking some time.

[h2]New conquest features:[/h2]

[List]Pirates now roam the galaxy!
Your fleet will now have a power level, deciding the outcome when fighting pirates
Space stations have been added to the galactic map
Flying too close to the sun (or face-checking it) will now destroy your fleet
Defeat and starvation events added
Fate encounters, pirate battles and invasions will now grant rewards on completion
New city map, the Sky Palace
You can now mine asteroid belts
Taxation without representation: Conquered planets will now periodically gift you a monetary tribute, voluntarily of course
Ships will now display their class and name

[List] The music in some scenes have been replaced
Interrupting the healing animation with a weapon switch will no longer prevent you from using skills
The scale of the galactic map has been overhauled
The settings menu has received more love
The galactic map’s camera has been modified for a smoother experience [/List]


Update 51 MOMENTUM FIX! 04/30/2021

We changed the way jumping works so it will carry your momentum instead of going where you look! (using the jetpacks will give you full air control like before)!


Do we really care about the rest? Here it is anyway:

  • Option menu and pause UI completely overhauled
  • Adventure events will now display correctly and grant their intended rewards. The logic behind them is not implemented yet, you can receive an adventure prompt with you character in prison while you aren’t
  • Fate encounters added! Mini levels with rewards, similar to roguelike
  • Your username will now be visible next to your ship
  • Modified the ships propulsion effects to look “More good”
  • The NPC’s name tags size has been reduced

  • The dialog option pop-up will now disappear when interacting with an NPC

  • The NPC’s head tracking angles have been reduced so they can’t go all horror movie-like on you
  • Your jump's height in town has been reduced and your jetpack deactivated.
  • Picking up items after recycling in space will be easier*
  • New ship models added
  • Adjusted the tracking of some interaction popup for better clarity
  • Slight UI modification in the purchase interface to improve readability
  • Town icons will now track the NPCs accurately
  • You will not be able to change the policy of a planet you didn’t conquer
  • Your jetpack will now let you fly in battlefields like it’s supposed to, never buying Famasian tech again
  • Your fleet will not go on strike each time you leave a planet, allowing to move freely*
  • Your fleet’s inventory will no longer eat your food and fuel*
  • The projectiles fired from your bow will no longer disappear before hitting the target. Seriously how did you guys notice that, the weapon is so garbage I didn't notice the difference*
  • Your fleet will now behave properly and not eat your whole food stock and starve to death 3 seconds after you enter conquest

CONQUEST!

My dear conquerors it is finally here!

The first iteration of conquest!!!!
We are excited and scared to share this with everyone! Let's just jump into the changes!

[h3]General changes[/h3]
  • Conquest test became Test scenes
  • Space test scene temporarily removed
  • Certain scenes have new BGM!
  • New font!


[h2]Conquest mode![/h2]
  • Playable now with up to 4 simultaneous players!
  • Spaceship travel through the Milky way!
  • Adventure events! (text adventures, somewhat broken)
  • Live the dream and be a space garbage collector! Find the treasures of old civilization to pay your bills!
  • All planets are conquerable. Once conquered your flag will be used as the planet's icon. Oh, btw...
  • Change your fleet's emblem and colors!
  • All planets can be explored! Visit shops, recruit more soldiers, buy ships and supplies, and sell the items you found!
  • Shops are managed by NPCs!
  • Manage your fleet and its resource consumption!


[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • The benchmark will not crash (as often)
  • Fixed a few issues that would lead to a crash, the game should be more stable

19/03 Update 48 the missing link

Hello everyone!


We did not upload a log for update 47 as it mainly contained performance improvements and new conquest files that are not accessible yet. (And also I forgot ːss13okː )


Conquest is advancing behind the scenes and I will try to give an ETA on Friday for the usual update preview.

So what is new in this update?



  • We changed the model for Famas soldiers and Famas nurses (Base units as well as bosses using a variant of the model. Some players felt they were too close to other scifi franchises, tho others like the nostalgia of the models. We might bring them back as optional skins in the future.

  • Recycle will now work on the controller (this was done as a ploy to make controller players use the superior mouse and keyboard and totally not a bug)

  • You already stopped reading this

  • There was a chance when entering a new level, that it would already be filled with radioactive dust killing you in less time than a reflect enemy, seriously I hate this bullshit

  • The size of the feedback button has been reduce but size doesn't matter, your my mom told me so.

  • The SMG right click should be less flashy

  • A bottle of oil

  • 2 sponges and some raviolis

19/02 Update 46 CONTINUE?

Continue is back!

Enemies should not be able to shoot through walls anymore!

We announced you would be able to get your territory in the game through a website in this patch.
While this functionality works, we are not satisfied with the general presentation and some functionalities that are not finalized. We will pause this while we flesh out conquest!
As we are talking about this, we'd like to let you know we are working on a daily update format where we will explain everything we did, not only about the game but really the whole company including hiring, results of meetings and other decisions! We should start this on Tuesday, telling you everything we did on Monday!

we may or may not have completely wrecked the simian enemies in this patch
