Daily Runs Rewards

I'm glad ya'll are enjoying daily runs.

I'm going to be adding a few features to make Dailies feel much more enjoyable, first thing are rewards.


Placing in the top 3 in a daily run will offer an in game reward for that day.

What is the reward...oooh it's a huge suprise I don't wan to spoil that!


HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!



There is now a weekly run as well, placing in the top 3 spots there will give you a permanent in game skin.

It's this cool Shadow Wally Skin.




Also I added this cool new visual change to the daily runs.





When you start a daily run you'll be able to see your rank in the dailies as you play it.

And how many more points you need to get before you pass the next person.



Once you pass them you'll get this cool notification letting you know that you've rekt that dude, and the game will tell you how many points you need to get until you get your next victim. MWAHAHAHAHAA!!

So Wally's default mode's goal is to help you reach the true ending.
Daily run changes are done so that the game offers a higher challenge.

Daily Run Changes
Default Apple drop rate from enemies and boxes reduced from 0.15% to .05%
Potions of mystery have a 50% positive and negative chance the first time you drink them. (In regular runs the default potion of mystery rate is 60% positive chance)

(In default runs potions of myster are around 60% and have a +10% of a positive potion on sequential drink)

Fixed a crash that occurred when you started a new floor in a daily run.
The thing destroys more tiles when he spawns in so he doesn't spawn in behind walls (my bad)
Switching back to the default skin will save properly.
Fixed a bug where the mysterious stranger reviving you could soft lock the game
Fixed a crash that occurred when finding the magic mirror upgrade in the boomrang mode.
Fixed a bug that occurred that triggered Chad and Don jon's achievements early.

Daily Run Update

Hello my dude! Pleasure to talk to you today!

I've been fine! It was my birthday last week and I celebrated by taking my friend Jimmy out to some Ramen!

(Oh man it was great! We got some kimbabs and I want to surprise him by taking him to Disney land since he's never been! It'll be such a great day for him!)

Anyway back to your regularly scheduled patch notes programming!


So we all know that the Wally leader boards suck balls right now! In fact they don't even work!

HAHA (painful laughter)

That sucks!




But even when they where working I think there was a lot of room of improvement. So I thought we should make them better, so I decided to make a new and improved version of them.


HIGHLIGHT DAILY RUN REWORK


Daily Runs have been re-added.
Global Scores and names will be available for you to view in the main hub area.
Scores are also available in the Steam Leader boards.





Rules for Daily Runs!
So here is the deal and rules for Daily Runs!


Every Day each run will feature some crazy different twist, something to make the runs feel unique from one another.


I think Wally is funnest when you are getting lots of combos and opening as many chests as possible.


So rules for the current scoring system.

Knocking out an enemy with less than 6 combos grants you 1 point.
Knocking out an enemy with more than 6 combos grants you 2 points.
Knocking out an enemy with more than 10 combos grants you 3 points.

So yeah try to keep a good combo and you'll start generating a score higher than anyone else.

Going through a dungeon without taking damage grants you +10 points.

Beating a boss grants you +10 points.
Beating a boss without taking damage +20 points.

Chests scoring system.

I feel like these might be too generous for now but ehh whatever let's have some fun with this!

The 1st chest you hit grants you +1 point.
The 2nd chest you open grants you +1 point.
The 3rd chest you open grants you +2 point.
The 4th chest you open grants you +2 point.
The 5th chest you open AND ONWARDS grants you +3 points.

[h2]New COOP Difficulty Modes[/h2]






  • Fixed a crash that occurred when reached a curse screen and tried to move when you had no curse skips left.
  • Fixed a caused a crash whenever you started the AAAA dungeon in daily runs

COOP UPDATE

Finally, Wally can now be a date night activity!

In this update, we're introducing coop mode. Play as Backpack guy and use your backpack to deflect bullets.






Mechanically, player 2 can move and shoot just like Wally can, but instead of a roll. He can use his backpack to deflect bullets for a few seconds.



I went with this design because it fits Backpack guy as his character identity revolves around a giant backpack, but also because it allows player 2 the option of shielding and helping player 1.

Does player 2 hate your guts and refuse to shield you bullets! Or do you have a better relationship than me and my cat and choose to shield and protect your partner!

That's pretty much the reason for the shield, I figured it would be an ability that could benefit player 2 but also benefit player 1.

BUT BOON, YOU MIGHT SAY! "How can I flex on my date that I somehow convinced playing your weird game was a good first date that I'm better than them in this nichy indie game?"

Right, you are!

I wanted to add competition to coop so I’m giving a huge freaking crown to whoever is hitting more shots on enemies.

Configure if you are both using controllers or using WASD + mouse and a controller




How health works with Player 2.

Player 2 restore his hearts whenever player 1 eats an apple.
Player 2 restores one heart every time he goes down a floor. (To compensate for this aggro health regen you start out with less max health).


If player 1 dies it's game over.

If player 2 dies he can be brought back to life on the next floor by trading a hug from player 1

Added Warnings to the dragons while they are on the sawblades

BOON: Holy crap these guys are actually the worst enemies in the game because they don't warn you before attacking, I'm adding a warning so the attacks from these guys aren't so random.

Prevented you from spawning on top of a snail in the purple levels
(This would have spawned you on lava and that would have been pretty terrible)

BOON: Big rage quit moment, when you spawned on lava and then died after standing on it for 1 second. Honestly this mechanic was something I added as a joke so that you can land on dragons or turtles but I forgot about the snail's interaction.



Fixed a bug that prevented you from interacting with the exit while in close proximity of NPC's / dungeon events.

Fixed a bug that prevented you from using the sword after completing foxlion.
Fixed a bug where you couldn't find the exit in the AAAA dungeon
Fixed a bug that prevented you from pausing when you started a new floor.

Fixed a bug that prevented you from getting the don jon get-all-items achievement
Fixed a bug that prevented you from getting all of Chad's get-all-items items achievement
Fixed a bug that prevented you from getting unlimited ammo from PIZZA TIME
Fixed a bug that prevented you from getting unlimited ammo from MICHAEL'S SECRET SAUCE
Fixed a bug that showed the wrong price on golden slot machines
Fixed a soft lock that occurred when you where revived in the ghost dungeon
Fixed a bug that made purple shot shoot once you defeated the thing.
Fixed a bug that allowed certain enemies to attack even after all enemies were cleared
Fixed a memory leak caused by bombs exploding. (Game should have more FPS now during longer sessions)

Added Achievements

Added 36 new achievements to Wally.



Fixed a bug that prevented you from choosing a new run when you died.

Lowered the amount of Boss upgrades by 1.
You start with 1 bomb.

Thank you very much, I am blowned by you and I want to start with a quick story that happened to me a week ago I was feeling really terrible. But I had someone reach out to me and let me know that they completed the True Ending.





Man hearing a message like this is really why I make games. I really want to make the best possible game I can make and messages like these are fuel for my soul.


I wanted to share it with as many people to the world!

I also linked the game because I really wanted this little post to help get Wally in front of the world.

It did.


I was not prepared, it blew up and I stayed till 6 am answering question after question. I really wanted to make sure I didn't waste this opportunity.


I slept for 1 hour before having to wake up to my job. I was blown away we sold 169 copies, more than we've sold in 1 year I was blown away and I want to thank you eternally from the depth of my heart. I hugged my brother and my mom for a minute, literally broke down and cried. I've never had so much success with Wally.

I am so freaking grateful for everyone of you that's helped me. From the depths of my cruel black heart! Thank you very much!



You are what keeps me going. If no one still played Wally I would have stopped years ago.

Thank you for being the fuel I need to keep going even when everything seems hopeless I really appreciate you :D

The update itself!



With so many people playing Wally we found tons of new bugs. I made sure to fix as many as I could. If you find anything new please let me know here.

If you can recall the details of how the bug occurred that would help me by 1000%. So that I can recreate it and it makes it a 1,000,000% easier to fix!



Highlights Added Chill mode
Honestly I think I'm going to be replacing the sword only mode with this one in the future. It's just a nice chiller version of Wally, where rolling costs 2 and the sword costs 2. You have more hp and more hearts. Also I called it Chill mode because no way in hell am I playing Easy mode! Mwahahahhaa I'm way to proud to fall for that! But Chill mode doesn't sound like playing it will make me a wimp (I should get a degree in psychology/marketing one day)!




Reworked hard mode/Coco Mode
Here I'm going to see how far I can push the game here. It's definitely not for everyone, I'd recommend finishing the main game once and getting the true ending. I'm adding this because the main game is too easy for me, and instead of making it harder for everyone I'd rather do it here for myself instead.


Changes in hard mode: 3 Max hearts. 2 Choices when leveling up. Faster Attack Speed, lower range and slightly lower damage.

So it's a lot less forgiving, and the lower range and faster attack speed is so that you are technically doing a little bit more damage but you have to get much closer to enemies than you'd feel comfortable with. This is all done so you have to pay more attention to the enemy warnings so you don't get owned and stuff. The added limitation of shooting in 4 directions makes the easy enemies a lot more threatening since you have to be in the right position.

I will be adding some more character modes in the future. Stay tuned!



Gameplay Changes
Dragon Boss Fire raining attack only goes for 2 phases instead of 4
Added a new legendary upgrade, The Tsundere Butterfly
Meteors no longer destroy Walls.
Made it easier to see where to stand in the thing fight.

Bug Fixes:
Fixed multiple exits spawning in the cloud level.
Fixed the Tarantula's jumping inside of the walls
Fixed the Dragon Boss shooting a ridiculous amount of fireballs in the true ending.
Fixed audio issues with the pepper spray upgrade and the slingshot upgrade
Fixed audio issues regarding the Thing's Dungeon
Fixed a crash that occured when changing the size of your crosshair
Fixed a crash that occured on startup after changing the size of your crosshair
