Update Log 1-6

Hello everyone, in today’s update, we have canceled the feature that players cannot obtain Inheritance Points after the Battle of July. We have also fixed a lot of bugs! [h3]-Inheritance Points can still be obtained after the Battle of July.[/h3]

-Inheritance Points have been changed to refresh once per day automatically, and you can also refresh manually by clicking the Inheritance Icon in the left corner

-Relaxed the time limit of several Bosses’ Inheritance Points

-Added Inheritance Pints for several Bosses

-If the main quests are not completed within 180 days, you can continue the game and find the battle messenger for the final battle to complete the main quests.

-If you are defeated in the final battle, you can still find the battle messenger to process the challenge

-Now the Save will record the previously used mods and there will be a notification if some of the Mods are missing when loading the game.

-Added a tactics setting panel in the team interface. Now you can set the default tactics for the battle

-Added a tutorial instruction for the first siege battle (closed permanently after finishing the first playthrough)

-Adjusted the collision area in some battle maps to prevent the units from being stuck in the wall due to some accidents

-Resource consumption will now be placed after loading, to avoid the situation that the dungeon cannot be entered after loading but the resources are deducted

-Players who are defeated will now receive a one-day "Exile" status, which will not be actively attacked by hostile NPC during the status

-Team will not consume food, starve and the food will not expire during battle

-If you have acquired an Inheritance teammate (Amber, Lovisa, Grey Snow) who needs to be unlocked by missions, then trigger the related story, you will be rejected and get a notification that you have already obtain the teammate, and a little reputation will also be rewarded

-Fixed the bug that skills could not be used in battle after resurrection. The update should have completely fixed this issue. If you still encounter the similar issue, please contact us
-Fixed the problem that sometimes the player will be in the wrong side during support battle if was alliance once or the favorability was too high

-Fixed a bug where victory would be considered as a failure when the player is in the defensive side in some battles

-Fixed a bug where players talk to Cheng Xi firstly after defeating Snow Monster would take the previous mission in Grey Snow mission

-Fixed the bug that the Honeysuckle collection will not update in the panel in Grey Snow mission, and the three honeysuckle grasses have been marked with yellow marks on the map

-Fixed a bug where task marks would not refresh in some cases

-Fixed a bug where players fail in the battle without props and resources lost in some cases

-Fixed a bug where rich merchants disappeared and the mission could not be submitted after completing the mission that the rich merchants in Heiya Flower Township attack the robber camp

-Fixed a bug where the cattle pasture in Double Moon Valley could not be interacted

-When asking NPC information, the title of men and women will be correctly distinguished

-Fixed a bug where Rina’s model present as Snow Wolf Man incorrectly

-Significantly increased initial and incremental funds for merchants in various locations

-Significantly reduced the backswing of Darkmoon Shadow and Darkmoon Spike

-Due to irrational design, randomly debt collection missions will not be created temporarily

-Reduced the favorability required for heroes to join the team

-Reduced the favorability for heroes to draw

-Reduced the reputation requirement to join factions

-Some skill effects have been modified

-Optimized the speed of auto save

-Optimized the interface of Mod store

-New character model Moshu has been added

-Added Xihe Jiaro character skills

-Now there will be a notification when the game cannot be launched normally

-A system time zone repair tool is now available (can be used when the game cannot be launched normally)

-Fixed the issue that some Win7 players cannot enter the game


If you can't enter the game after updating the version, and a screenshot message pops up shows “System.UnauthorizedAccessException”, please try to delete the “_HSTemp” folder in the steam installation directory. For example, F: steamsteamappscommonDesertLegend_HSTemp.

The Update Plan About “the New Game+” and “the Inheritance Point”

Recently, we’ve received some complains about “the Inheritance Point” and “the forced New Game+”, we are still collecting feedbacks or suggestions from the whole community.

The purpose of the design of "Players couldnn't gain any Point after 6 months" was to encourage trying different classes or professions. However, the actual “Inheritance Point” is too difficult to get, this part is not well experienced by many players. and it had been labled as ”the forced replay”. We’ve already realized the issue. Thus, after our discussion, we plan to do some fixes about this problem at a later time today.

- Players can earn the “Inheritance Point” even after completing the main storyline
- We changed the requirement of some abilitties paid by “Inheritance Point”

In today's later update, we will also fix some bugs and designs that would affect the gameplay. Like, players’ skills can’t cool down normally after the resurrection. and that the players can’t enter the raid after cost the resources.

Update patch note 1-5

Hello everyone! The update today is aimed to fix some of the in-game bugs such as game freezes after triggering the beast transform, skill unusable after respawn, unstable attack range issue, price error when selling a big pile of merchants. We've also adjusted the number of items each space can hold, added more ways to acquire repair tools, and improved the random mission experience.

[h3]·Bug Fixes[/h3]

- Fixed the price error bug when selling a large amount of items.

- Fixed the game freeze bug when been knockback as a flying beast mode.

- Partially fixed the skill unusable bug after respawning. (If you still encounter this bug, please contact us for help.)

- Fixed the issue that after possession skill ends, the range of normal attacks would remain the same as the possessed form.

- Fixed the bug in camel city that selecting "wait" would also start the fight.

- Fix the invincible minion bug.

[h3]·Improvements[/h3]

- Now, merchants in the five starting cities would sell all kinds of repair tools. We've also changed the price of the repair tools.

- Changed the range limit of search missions(including sending a letter, challenge, and debt collection).  And the time limit is changed to 50 days now. We've also raised the amount of rewards for these types of missions since the difficulty due to lack of proper indicator.

- No more end the playthrough option after the final fight in July.

- More items can be held in stacks now, the new stack limit is 99. (Newly acquired item could be stacked)

- Skill crystal can now be held in stacks, crystals will not take up too much space anymore.

- Adjusted the difficulty of scorpion's treasure story mission.

- Changed the storm cloak, black dragon armor effect to having a chance to get a shield when being hit.

- Improved the description of certain gears.

- Removed parts of the blocked words.

Update patch note 1-4

Hello everyone, we've fixed a few bugs regarding game mechanics and have improved the tutorial, hits registration, and the mod manager. On top of that, you can get steam achievements with mods activated now.

- Added IDs to the mods

- Added a tutorial stage for the mod editor. Including a map, several conversations, and battles. We will keep updating and refining the mod tutorial.

- Now when your mouse is hovering above a mission icon or a mission npc, a mission display will appear.

- Added more detail information to the map, showing dungeons, points of Interest, and chests.

- Improve the NPC mission icon. Now it is easier to identify.

- Made the possessed Oxes bigger.

- Lowered the difficulty of all thieves' dens and added descriptions of the defending troops.

- Improved the attack speed of the first two normal attacks of swords, machetes, spears, hammers, and bows.

- Lowered the knockback effect of all normal attacks.

- Changed the name of the great desert map to be consistent with the large scale map name.

- Now entering the city would trigger the next step for the missions which require interacting with the main structure.

- Improved certain mission indicators.

- Changed how some of the weapon effects work to improve performance.

- Improved the description of the fighting contest.

- Added a countdown timer when reached June 1st in-game. The entire length of the main story is 6 months in-game.

- Improved several mission descriptions.

- Fixed the loud noise issue in combat

- Fixed the issue which the Lava Core skill has a bigger-than-intended effect radius

- Fixed the issue where upgrading units would result in a 0/0 value.

- Fixed the unable to close development support mode in-game issue.

- Fixed the bug that made some armor pieces appear in the weapon slot when equipped.

- Fixed the range of normal attacks.

- Fixed the mod managing menu to show the mod preview image correctly.

- Fixed the issue when a battle stretch out too long the world event would happen twice.

- Fixed the responsive issue in the tactic menu.

- Fixed a few misused dungeon icons.

- Fixed the bug where choosing the "more" option on the city menu would trigger wrong conversations with the shopkeeper and other NPCs

- Added the missing true ending dialogue

Sands of Salzaar Early Access Update Plan Content

Our current update plan after launch of Early Access is as follows:

1. Continue updating our Mod Editor to include documentation, tools, tutorial videos, a community for developers, and more.

2. Add voiceovers and sound effects to a large number of characters. Add more models for NPCs, as well as side stories for certain factions of NPCs.

3. Add new playable characters with their own complete storylines.

4. Add more crossovers between our other title, Hanjia Jianghu, including a full expansion pack with characters from the game.

5. Add custom combat features which will allow players to adjust battle variables.

6. In the Code: Princess Coral update, we will add more complete building features and more types of buildings. In addition, we will add combat formations which players must master and command in order to defeat large hordes of enemies. New hidden locations and dungeons with their own side stories will be introduced as well. Lastly, more diversity will be added to regions on the world map which will continue to be updated in future versions.

7. In the Code: Battle of the Blood Moon update, we will be adding a more refined crafting system complete with recipes. A city siege system will also be introduced with optimized siege weapons, defensive towers, and other elements of siege warfare. Sands of Salzaar and content created through our Mod Editor will also begin supporting online combat in this update.

8. In the Code: Sirocco Valley update, we will be adding an additional solo adventure mode in which players explore the Imperial Tomb. A multilingual support framework will also be added to Sands of Salzaar, with Chinese and Japanese as our officially supported languages.

Our current Early Access plan is as described above. Updates planned further in the future will be announced directly in the community. Thanks for your support!

No English support at launch

The English localization of Sands of Salzaar is still in progress. We apologize for not supporting English at the beginning of Early Access, and are grateful for your understanding! English support is one of our top priorities, and we aim to add it to the game ASAP.
