Hello Gatewalkers!

New open beta tests of Gatewalkers will start on May 3, 2021, along with the BIG FESTIVAL.

Below, a list of the mechanics we are most curious about, with links to detailed Steam posts:

  2. The transmutator, a device that lets you convert lower-tier resources into higher-tier resources (LINK)
  3. The Guild Merchant, who will help you trade unwanted items for products made in the city (LINK)
  4. XBOX and PS controller support (LINK)
  5. Mouse-centric controls, similar to other aRPG but modified to take into account Gatwakers’ skill-based combat system (LINK).

As was the case with the previous beta, we will not uncover any new main quest plots or weapons.

Open Beta

Hello Gatewalkers!

Today, we would like to let you know about our development plans for the upcoming months.

Before we start, we would like to thank you again for being with us and for the incredible, constructive feedback we received during the last tests. All the changes and new features we are introducing to the game appear every week as posts on the game’s STEAM, Discord, and social media pages. We see sustained interest on your part, so we want to keep up this weekly news feed.

Now, let’s get to business...

Our goal is to make Gatewalkers a polished game that combines two distant genres: aRGP and Survival. To achieve this goal, we have to balance out both types of gameplay so that fans of both genres feel satisfied. In addition to gameplay balance, we have to polish such aspects of the game as controls (more on game controls here: LINK). That is why we would like to invite you to another round of open Gatewalkers tests on the following dates:
  • BETA 2 will launch May 3, 2021, and will last for two weeks. More details about the goals of these tests soon.
  • More tests are planned for summer/fall, but we will announce details concerning these tests after BETA 2 closes.

We know that you keep wondering about the game’s release date. We plan to release the game near the end of 2021, and that is why we would be grateful if you could take part in the upcoming tests. We want to hear your feedback and make the game better together.

We also keep getting questions about potential console ports. From the start, we are developing Gatewalkers with XBOX and PS ports in mind. So you can expect releases for these two platforms at a later date.

Thank you for being with us, and see you on the other side of the Gate!

CREATURES IN FOREST DUNGEONS

Hello Gatewalkers,

As you know, Gatewalkers roam different worlds in search of valuable resources and secrets of the Ancients. Some of the more interesting places you’ll be able to explore during your expeditions are dungeons. Dungeons can be found, for example, in forest, toxic, and ice worlds. Today, we will show you some of the creatures you may encounter while exploring underground complexes found in forest worlds.

Before you start exploring a dungeon, you must find its entrance. The entrance can be hidden anywhere in a given world, so you must extra vigilant not to miss it. These modest, barely noticeable caverns can lead to surprisingly vast underground complexes.

Once you find a dungeon entrance, you best get ready for a fierce fight with underground dwellers. It’s no coincidence that Monkey Bats or Hollows don’t live only on the surface and do not venture underground.

The creatures most commonly found in forest dungeons are Etchers, nimble beasts that release saprolings during battle. Saprolings are little critters that sacrifice their own lives to protect their symbiotic host. A released saproling charges towards its enemy and explodes, causing large-area damage.

Other creatures you might encounter are Rootmen, the evolved form of Etchers that live in symbiosis with plants.

It is worth mentioning that in the darkest depths of dungeons, you can find even stranger creatures called Beremurs. Unfortunately, little is known about their origins or abilities. But who knows, maybe you will be one of the first Gatewalkers to face these cryptic creatures.
