Mainline Patch - March 17, 2020

A "mainline" patch brings all of the past week's development work into the Alpha test. Players will need to exit the game in order to download the new version.

Bug reports in the Steam Discussion, via Feedback button in-game, and through Discord are incredibly helpful, thank you! Players will notice many of their reports listed as fixed in today's Patch Notes.

This week's update is mostly focused on bug fixes and small updates. A problem with the Mapworks quest has been addressed that was not allowing players to pick up quest collectibles, Power Rewards have been added to Contracts, Ember Cores can now be destroyed, and it was reported that the cat pet "talked too much", so with this update, that is meowlonger the case.

The team is steady turning the crank on skill tier bonuses for all classes. In this week's build the Railmaster's Train skills are ready to roll. CHOO-CHOO people! (this brings us to Dusk Mage and Railmaster fully implemented, with Forged next). Forged skill tier work was mid-change when we cut this build so many of the little robot's skills are showing tooltips for tier bonuses which aren't actually working yet. This is called "performing without a net"... this is fine...

We've also finished the process of making escape skills instant cast and interrupt. Overall the combat feel for all classes should be in a really happy place now. Please keep trying out different skill builds and telling us what's feeling right and where you find actions that still need improvement. This is making the game heaps better thanks to your feedback.

Finally, the much-maligned mouse cursor is now smaller, you monsters.

The implementation of Skill Tiers continues. This patch contains the Light skill tiers for Dusk Mage (Dark skills were in last week's patch) and the Lineage skill tiers for Railmaster.

Primary escape abilities that required the player to issue a move command in order to actually escape are updated to automatically move the player when the skill is triggered. This is most relevant to Dusk Mage (Luminous Run) and Railmaster (Hammer Spin). All escape skills will also be changed to interrupt any current action; this partially complete in today's build and should be concluded in the next Mainline patch.

Finally, we've heard scattered reports of freezing or crashing while on loading screens. Regular players are saying that this is more than a rare or one-off event. This was a hard one to pin down as there were no obvious steps to produce the bug, but we know it's happening and needs a fix. This patch includes a fix we _think_ will prevent the freeze from happening. Thanks to the players who are persistent about sharing issues like this!

Mainline Patch - Feb 25, 2020

A "mainline" patch brings all of the past week's development work into the Alpha test. Players will need to exit the game in order to download the new version.

Bug reports in the Steam Discussion, via Feedback button in-game, and through Discord are incredibly helpful, thank you! Players will notice many of their reports listed as fixed in today's Patch Notes.

This patch includes a large set of improvements to Combat Feel that were mentioned in Tyler's community letter last week. Skill Tier Bonuses for the Dusk Mage's Dark tree are now playable as well. This is an early implementation for skill tiers - alpha players should expect to see content that is playable and fun, but not something polished for final release. It's never comfortable to show our work in this in-progress state, but we're committed giving the alpha audience up-to-date builds so their feedback speaks directly to active development.
