Happy Lunar Sale everyone!

As part of our meat Lunar NY celebration we've set a 25-off discount for Golden Light, so it's another great opportunity to grab it and finally try it out!

We've also updated the main branch yesterday with a minor update, let's talk a little bit about that, recap what has been added recently and what's coming in the near future.

So, what's new?

  • Boss weapons: In one of the previous updates we've laid down a foundation for special weapons that our bosses will drop upon death. Currently it's up only for Carre, but in the next major update most likely every other boss will get it's own cool little thingy.

  • New item: It's your slimy leechy friend! With previously newly added effect we had 1 less item to spawn in summary, now every single effect is available at your service.

  • Gamepad support and new rebinding: Gamepad support is finally back, as well as new key rebinding that let's your rebind every single one of our actions. (Currently only for keyboard).

  • New achievements: As you may have noticed we've added a bunch of new achievements to GL. And of course there will be more.

  • The Gut is angry...: Each time you anger the Gut at maximum level - beware of the consequences, as a boss will spawn to hunt you down. This very well may be reworked depending on your feedback.

  • Too generous merchants: Previously if you bought a key from a golden mimic - he'd drop another one if you'd kill him. Not happening anymore, sorry.

  • Golden Meat upgrades for co-op are gone: There were some problems with having those move from your singleplayer campaign to Co-op mode, so we had to remove it temporarily. Possibly in the future there will be another way to obtain those in the Co-op itself.

  • Bugfixes: Bugs come and go, as always.




What's coming in next major update

  • Final Biome. The Insides: We've started to test our final necessary biome. It's, well, full of meat and meaty dangers. This biome opens up after gathering all of She parts and will act as pathway to the ending, alongside new story elements, monsters and a new boss.

  • New boss weapons: As stated before - we've added one, now we'll add more.

  • New mementos: Of course! Weird ones too!

  • Some reworks: Although we're not yet at a polishing state of development, there are just some things that need to be added or reworked. We'll talk about this when the time is right.

Co-op hotfix and more content #2

The main branch was updated once again! Here's what's up:

  • Even more co-op connection fixes. Should be even more stable.
  • New item effect: Gift of Mole. Find out what it does ːsquirtyayː
  • Snout has a compass now, for better navigation in the Field.
  • Nose with Teeth of your Meat Bro is visible in coop
  • Eye Takers now can spawn during the chase.
  • Booses are buffed in coop;

Co-op hotfix #1

The main branch is updated with a hotfix:

  • Invites are more stable now and if both players decide to press "invite" at the same time it shouldn't interfere with lobby creation. (We still don't recommend to invite someone who has singleplayer launched at the same time.)
  • Invite button opens up an invite overlay instead of your standard steam overlay.
  • Level generation shouldn't spawn disconnected tiles anymore
  • No more items spawning inside of walls. (Meat holes are still a thing though).
  • Evil meats are a tad bit faster now during the Chase

The newest update with 2 Player online co-op, breakable walls and more other stuff is LIVE on public branch, as well as a 25% discount for Steam Winter Sale (in an hour?). Ahhh, the perfect time to grab the meatiest game for you and your friend and finally try it out! If it's your first time - consume the Golden Light, let it's weirdness fill you. If it's not - you probably want to know what's new innit? Let's list what's up like we always do, haha!

[h2]What's new:[/h2]

  • [h3]2 Players Online Co-op:[/h3] It's here! Access it in the main menu and invite your friend through the Steam Overlay. You'll start on Floor -1 and begin your journey to the bottom of The Gut. Each time you defeat a boss you'll unlock a checkpoint, so next time you'll want to play you can start from Floors -4/-7 etc.

    If your friend got into trouble during your co-op sessions - no worries, you can pick up your pal's brain and gently toss it into a nearby Meat Iron Maiden. It's ressurection time!

    Co-op features a slightly different in-game balance as well as multiplayer exclusive mementos, for example a memento that lets you heal yourself in exchange for harming your friend! Yes, we know, we are very cruel.

    Since this is just the first step for multiplayer Golden Light experience - expect some more Early Access jankiness that we'll hop on as soon as we find out about it. More than that, we are thinking about expanding on the idea of multiplayer modes and it's QoL features and other stuff that'll make it fun. For now you are able to invite or join only your steam friends, so it'd be reasonable to call each other in the discord or anywhere else. In the future though, depending on the reception of Co-op and it's performance, we'll start to think about adding quick games with randoms, lobbies, voice/text chats and maybe even customization of your Meat Bro, not even talking about crazy multiplayer ideas we have that could include more than just two players.

    We'll be also closely looking at feedback in the coming days to see how Co-op is treatin ya to make notes and use em for later, so be sure to share your thoughts with us.

  • Stop right there, drop your weapon!: As a result of Co-op mode you can now drop items and weapons (even in singleplayer. Default key is "G". Press to drop an item, hold to drop a weapon"). Got too much items and don't want to use it right away? Share it with your buddy!

  • Breakable walls: The walls of The Gut can now be destoyed, which will bare meaty insides. Opening a new path may reward or harm you, since newly opened will spawn enemies, weapons, items, status effects etc. I guess that's the price to pay for your curiosity!


  • New mementos: Jump in slow motion or destroy nearby walls by eating an item. Find new mementos in the game and try em out!

  • New mood for the Main Menu: Holidays are here and NY 2021 is just around the corner. It's time we update our little menu with a little more christmasy vibe.

  • New visuals for chains and locks: It's animated now, yay!


  • Updated lighting for some biomes: Speaks for itself, the lighting was alternated on some floors for easier navigation.


  • More original tracks for flashback sequences: We've added more ost. More than that, now a random track will play for the Band granni and Elevator in co-op. Hope you'll like these new tunes too!

  • Many many minor fixes: You know, the game won't fix itself.

Golden Light Co-op is coming! Eat a gun and bound Together with a friend!

Some time ago we've went on a journey to add a Co-op mode to Golden Light, and now we're happy to say that we achieved some interesting results in that regard! Co-op Golden Light mode is coming tomorrow (22th of December, with the start of Winter Steam Sale) to a public GL branch for everyone to play with their friends, alongside some other updates to Golden Light and a 25%-off winter sale discount!

Co-op mode lets you and your friend play from start to the current end of the game together, simply click "2 players" button in the main menu and invite your friend to the lobby, then fun will begin! Co-op mode features some exclusive mechanics and mementos that are not present in the single player. For example, if your friends fall from an enemy hand (or a leg, as matter of fact) - you can pick'em up and throw in the nearby Meat Iron Maiden. This way you'll resurrect your buddies with half of their health!

Please notice that because we're still in early access - some jankiness may still appear from time to time, which doesn't mean we won't fix it in the coming days, so let us know when you encounter anything strange! (Even more strange than the game itself, HAHA)
You'll see a more detailed patch-note tomorrow when the update goes live.

While Co-op mode will be up and running - it doesn't mean we'll stop there. Depending on performance and reception of the mode, since it wasn't in our initial roadmap, we've been thinking about expanding on multiplayer Golden Light experience, so who knows what awaits all of us ahead! Maybe a Golden Light hide-n-seek battle royale, ha-ha-ha-ha. Yes, i think we are going insane.
