Half-Life: Restored - Hotfix v1.4b

In today's small update we're adding MetaRenderer back. Since we still don't have enough information how it performs in Low/Mid tier PC's, we made it optional.

When you launch Half-Life: Restored, it will ask you if you want to launch with or without MetaRenderer.

If you have a Low/Mid tier PC and want to contribute, please try to launch and report your experience or any errors with MetaRenderer in Half-Life: Restored's Discussions tab.

Which can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1283930/discussions/

Half-Life: Restored - Update v1.4 Release [ - Patch Notes - ]

• Summary

Hey folks, after a long time break (very long one indeed) we are releasing a new patch for Half-Life: Restored. In this update we focused on bug fixing most, of course we added new features as well.
So what's in this update?

• Hi-quality weapon sounds
In this update we have added hi-quality sounds for weapons. Thanks to folks over "Valve Games Sound Origins" they basically find the actual samples of sounds Valve originally sampled back in the day. The sounds is not digitally remastered/upscaled, they directly a remaster from actual sample sources. Also thanks to MetaAudio, we can bypass GoldSrc's limited and poor audio quality and deliver much better experience in SFX. Currently we added weapon sounds we're planning to add other sounds in future.
• Shadows
One of the most problematic thing was in this mod were shadows. Most of the people complained shadows being too buggy and poor. And they were right. Shadows were really bad. These shadows were made by Valve back in the day and it's not possible to fix it without engine access which we don't have. But, thanks to a custom renderer engine, MetaRenderer, we now have the freedom add proper shadows and other graphical visuals. Thanks to hzqst for creating MetaRenderer. You may still see issues with shadows, i.e: bleeding through the walls, looking unnatural. Creating flawless shadows in GoldSrc is next to impossible, even Source have shadow problems. But they look much better than Valve's shadows.
• Closing comments
I saw many people were saying "Mod's abandoned, Dead mod" etc... No mod is not abandoned until i make an announcement about it. The issue about why is taking so long to update the mod is, i'm the ONLY developer of this mod, so development process is really slow as you can imagine. Also i saw people complaining about other cut features not being addded into the mod. The reason why i cannot add every cut stuff is, there's not much room left in the game to add everything back. I'm really squeezing stuff when i restore cut stuff to the game. That's why there's no major stuff and it's like normal Half-Life with upgrades. I don't plan to add new maps to the game to just to fit some cut monster. That will just make the mod way out of place. For updates, expect updates in future we have more stuff coming up.

Half-Life: Restored - Update v1.3 - [ Patch Notes ]

Hey folks, after working few weeks on the update, v1.3 update is finally here! We have exciting updates in this update!

Firstly, i would like to talk about SFX Quality Update in v1.3
MetaAudio for Half-Life: Restored
In this update, we'd like to introduce MetaAudio. MetaAudio is better replacement for EAX. Big thanks LAGonauta for letting me use MetaAudio in Half-Life: Restored.

MetaAudio basically is a Goldsrc sound plugin enhances in-game sound experience.

MetaAudio gives you:

 • Sound positioning (HTRF)
 • Distance attenuation
 • EFX effects
 • Voice communication

What's the difference than original Goldsrc?

 • FLAC and OGG support
 • Occlusion support like A3D
 • Fade between environmental effects
 • Hardware acceleration (with X-RAM support)
 • Significantly lower audio latency (especially if used with hardware acceleration)
 • "Unlimited" heap size for audio

MetaAudio comes enabled by default in Half-Life Restored. So you don't need to do anything extra. Now let's see what's changed in v1.3 update!
Changelog of v1.3
• Weapons:

- Fixed rapid corpse bug
- Fixed MP5's animations
- Fixed Crowbar double-swing issue
- Sped up Tripmine arming
- Distance for arming Tripmine is now higher
- Sped up Hand Grenade draw animation after throwed
- Restored Gauss's handle
- Fixed Gauss beta fidget animation
- Fixed Shotgun reloading late when changed to another weapon during reload

• NPC's:

- Fixed Einstein's jaw
- Added reload behaviour for Barney
- Improved Hassault and added more
- Scientists now have better textures
- Restored unused Scientist pain sounds
- Added unused Scientist dying sounds

• Gameplay:
- Added MetaAudio to enhance in-game audio quality (Similar to EAX but better!)
- Sometimes player doesn't lose weapons in ambush scene is now fixed
- Ambush cutscene sequence break bug is now fixed
- Added water to Power up (Gearbox touch!)
- Fixed player was getting stuck to the train
- Added Tram Lights

• Misc:

- Added "Enable/Disable Shadows" option in Advanced settings tab
- Improved player model
- Improved few model textures
- Updated Steam Library Capsule & Library Hero images
Known Bugs:
MetaAudio sometimes loops Apache wind sound and Egon firing sound.

Type stopsound to the console if you encounter with this bug

Found a pesky bug or need assistance with the game?

[Announcement] Half-Life: Restored - Known bugs - Future Updates etc...

Hey folks,

I saw some complaints and bugs... There's few things i'd like to point out about the mod.
Shadows
It seems most of the people aren't introduced original Half-Life shadows. If you played first release of Half-Life, it shipped with Shadows. Yup, the Shadows in Half-Life: Restored using the original shadows of Half-Life. Valve made these "shadows" but they made it really poorly. They either didn't have time finish it or they simply didn't care to fix them. Later they disabled shadows instead of fixing it. And all i did was reactive it. And it's impossible for me to fix it since you need engine access and only Valve has access to it. So yeah, if you don't like the Shadows simply turn them off. You can turn them off by typing cl_shadows 0 to the console or Options>Advanced>Shadows "Disabled" (This will be available in next update)
Achievements
Yes, i did promised Achievements, and it'll be available in some time period (hopefully!). But i cannot do this by myself. I'm the only developer of this mod and i cannot achieve everything perfectly or completely. So i'm looking a programmer for this task. If you're experienced Half-Life programmer and if you'd like to help me to achieve this, please add me up on Steam.
Bugs
I've been hearing about some zoomed menu problems and i believe this is a Windows problem than the mod itself. The fix for this issue is:
Fix A:
• Go to your Steam library
 • Right click Half-Life: Restored and choose properties
 • Click on "Set Launch Options"
 • and type:

-w xx -h xx -gl (Fill xx with your own resolution for example, i have 1920x1080 resolution so i type, -w 1920 -h 1080 -gl)
Fix B
(if Fix A doesn't work):

 • Right click on your desktop
 • Choose Display settings
 • Reduce "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" to %100
The game doesn't launch
You either don't own Half-Life on Steam or some files corrupted while downloading. Try to reinstall it.
Future Updates
Here's the (so far) changelog of future update: ( I will ship this update soon! )

Added "Enable or Disable Shadows" option in Advanced tab
Einstein jaw is fixed
Crowbar double-swing issue is fixed
Retouched Scientist textures
Tram Lights are now added
Fix Tram stuck spots
Added option to enable remastered models
Fixed rapid corpse bug
Fixed sometimes player doesn't lose weapons in ambush scene
Fixed MP5 animations
Planned Future Updates
- Restore Snark's Blink Behaviour
- Add software mode water to OpenGL (Need help for this!)
- Add Achievements (Need help for this!)
- Add reload behaviour for Barney
- Restore Hound Eye Guard behaviour
- Add "Disable Texture Filtering" option in Video settings (if possible)
