Release alpha v0.8.0

This version has 3 important new things: the Urbekopedia, the choice of paths and the ambience sound effects

[h3]Urbekopedia[/h3]
  • An encyclopaedia to see all the constructions, you can use filters to find what you are looking for.


[h3]Ambient sound effects[/h3]
  • Depending on where you are you will hear more birds, noise of the sea, murmur of the city, or different birds, barking, market sounds, etc.


[h3]Victory conditions[/h3]
  • Choose one of 3 different ways to win the map: wealth, leisure or productivity.
  • As you progress along the path you can unlock new vehicles, such as bicycles, trucks or other cars.




[h3]Additions[/h3]
  • Two new songs added
  • What was once unlocked will remain unlocked when saving and reloading, regardless of whether or not conditions are met.
  • Cars and pedestrians appear more often if there is high density.
  • Buses appear more at bus stops


[h3]Balance[/h3]
  • Some buildings are now unlocked not only with population, but with certain other buildings.
  • Night lasts less time
  • Difficulty of the small map is now x3, instead of x1.6

[h3]Fixes[/h3]
  • Music now cycles correctly
  • Opening one menu closes another, so the game is no longer paused when closing successive open menus.
  • When playing in lagoons, the "build a windmill" part can be skipped.
  • When changing from pedestrian view to isometric view, you can no longer see what is underground.
  • Now when exiting the pause menu in pedestrian mode the UI does not appear.
  • The position of the minimap is adjusted to the position of the tutorial, so it is no longer on top of the tutorial.

  • It is now more obvious that the windmills are built in rivers
  • X/Y to zoom in
  • Now the alert when there is an unconnected path is shown much sooner
  • Now it is shown that the fishermen's house needs to be coastal

Release alpha v0.7.0

Last update of the year! There are many changes, in particular the scoring system and policies. Changes to v0.7.0

Policies
  • You can now define policies, to shape your city's society as you wish, from utopias to dystopias.




Scoring
  • If you manage to build certain constructions you will earn points, depending on happiness, population and time taken.
  • The difficulty of the map changes depending on size, river choice, starting resources and so on.




Bugs
  • Fixed a major bug that didn't calculate the production rate of resources correctly.
  • Fixed bug when abandoning buildings, especially when clicking on them.
  • A warning sign is now displayed when a building does not meet your needs (it was missing in the last version).
  • Some builds used to show giant warning signs, fixed.
  • In some situations the overbuild was not working.
  • The resource lock is now correctly displayed when you have less resources.
  • The "has:" section of builds now displays correctly when more than 3 variables are involved.
  • Build links are now always clickable, previously some areas of the link were insensitive.
  • When deleting a city, the menu is no longer warped
  • Light buttons are now easily clickable, previously there were insensitive areas.




UI
  • The origin of the constructions is now displayed: Upgrade from, for easier navigation
  • Floating numbers on selection in strategic view now
  • Red text colour more visible
  • Tooltip of global variables is now shown to the left, so you can see the values better.
  • All biomes have description now
  • The information text of the constructs is now lighter.
  • When there is nothing to display (only steppe, or desert, for example) a smaller menu is displayed.
  • The colour for the hotkeys is now more legible
  • Improved order in the "upgrades to:" list


New menu
  • Now there is a new menu in the upper left corner


Tutorial
The following points are now added in the tutorial
  • Mini map
  • Layer view
  • Policies
  • Score


Biomes
  • All other biomes will be blocked


Sounds
  • All buttons now sound when clicked.

Urbek City Builder: Prologue Announcement

Hello to all city builders,

In a few months, Urbek City Builder: Prologue will be available for free, so you can see a sample of the game that is being developed with a lot of work and love.

The game is in a playable state, although there is a lot more content to be added for the final version of Urbek City Builder.

You can build different types of neighbourhoods: nightlife, artists, industrial and so on. Maybe you prefer a city focused on art and culture? Or would you also like an area with a vibrant nightlife?

Release alpha v0.6.0

I am very happy to announce that Urbek has a new graphical interface! There is still a lot of room for improvement and I look forward to your feedback to make the experience more and more enjoyable.

It takes less time to load and start a new game

Completely reworked
City name is displayed
Small numbers indicate the number of ghost tiles when building
Total list of shortcuts now visible

Strategic overview (show layers with transparent constructions)
You can delete saved cities
Now there is a button to go back to the initial view
You can select a building and then press key O to build more of that building as an alternative to going into the build menu every time

Fixes
Pressing alt Tab no longer changes the song.
All issue popups are not longer blocked by the day night cycle
"Proto Farms" name is displayed correctly: Fields, same for "proto Houses": Housing.
Stilt houses can no longer be overbuilt with alt, to avoid the exploit of turning sea into land.
coal mine could use a 5 tile radius indicator for where miners house will be built
The player in observer mode not longer moves sideways faster than forward.
The warning sign is displayed correctly
Fixed Goods Factory text
Wooden Stilt houses now need road
Fixed an issue when deleted the Main Square

Changes
Normal game speed is 1 second = 1 minutes in the game (instead of 2 minutes)

Studying
alt-overbuild does not work with multi tile structures
Perhaps there is an error in adding up the resources
