KF 3 Community Update: Bloat Enhancements

Hi, everyone!

With the last community update, we covered a variety of zed combat enhancements coming to Killing Floor 3. Today, we’re taking a more detailed look at the bloat, seen here in the recently enhanced level, Radar Station, which features updated lighting, texture and set dressing work.

All media shown is considered a work in progress and subject to change during the development process.

The first thing you’ll notice is the bloat's arms moving to block frontal headshots. Using this to their advantage, they move in for new mocapped melee attacks. Once close, bloats will attempt to slash the player with their claws, as well as knock them back with a devastating belly bump.

Those listening closely may also have picked up on the ongoing weapon sound iterations! Stay tuned for our next community update as we continue to share what the team has been working on, and in case you missed it:

We recently announced that we’ll be at PAX East, with more behind-the-scenes looks at KF3’s development, plus some content premieres and prizes. Hope you can join us in person, but if not, be sure to log into the live stream!

KF 3 Community Update: Zed Combat Enhancements

Hi everyone,

Zed combat behaviors, animations, hit reactions, and more have been tuned up as the Tripwire team continues polishing the game.

Players will notice smoother animation transitions, new mo-capped attacks, plus the return of a few fan-favorite KF2 attacks. Zeds are also now flinching, stumbling, and entering a headless wander state where they may just cause more damage if not put down for good.

Take a look at this short preview set in the recently 4G-enhanced City Streets:

Other things you may have noticed in the preview include: enhanced weapon animations—including more parallaxed movement for full-auto weapons—as well as a physics-driven camera that reacts in real-time to player behavior. (This setting is on by default but can be toggled off for player comfort.)

Let us know what else you’ve spotted, and stay tuned as the team is continuing to work towards other major improvements and we’ll be sharing more in the days ahead!

Big news! Our map roster will now feature 8 playable locations at launch—including our latest addition, the never-before-seen Sewers.

The Mire, a mutagenic plague, has spread through the sewers of a small Japanese town. Horzine researchers sent to investigate reported an unusual crawler infestation before going silent. Now, Nightfall must brave the depths to discover the horrifying truth.
