Early Access Update #2

Hello dear blacksmiths,

another 2 weeks have passed and I'm here to give you another insight of the things that I was working on and what will be included in the upcoming Early Access!
These weeks I'm working on the 'management' part of the game and so far all new features were implemented without any serious complications and are working flawlessly, so what to expect.

1. New Employee! - Overseer
This employee is responsible automatic management of players inventory, mining and even quests if you allow her!
2. Automatic mining function!
Yes, according to the menu above, you can tell your Overseer how much quantity of what resource you need and she will automatically check ordered vs. remaining amount and take care or the rest!
3. Automatic production function!
This will be a list of all available recipes that player achieved. You can set quantity of desired item and Overseer will check for available employees, check if they are doing something and keep an eye on the whole production cycle for you!
4. Automatic quests control
This feature will mean, that Overseer will be looking for 'quests/contracts' for xy amount of items, check whether you're capable of doing it and then automatically accepts it. It will link to the auto production function quite well.
5. Inventory spaces
With every item now produced, it will consume 1 inventory space as demonstrated in image 3). That's where chests come into the game. They provide you additional slots and have to be placed in the workshop!

These auto functions are there to help you micro-manage less as I myself find it annoying in a lot of games that I play.
Though it doesn't mean that you can now be idle and do nothing. Your job will have to be to keep an eye on the infrastructure and set the whole chain correctly. Won't be an easy task since there will be also Bandits invading your supply chains.

What will be happening next?

1. Reputation chests (just like magical carpets, there will be magical chests with unique powers that you can get from vendors!)
2. Rare vendor, who can come to town with lots of recipes getting changed from time to time and stays for a short period of time!
3. Bulletin board in town where player can get available orders for his work!
4. Inventory management will get added for all recipes.
5. Add new recipes for Runes and allow Smelter to craft it + enchanting of weapons should get added soon!

Lot of things happen so I'm overwhelmed by the work but doing my best!

Thanks all for your consistent support!

Early Access Update #1

Greetings to all blacksmiths,

after 2 weeks of work, I'm happy to share couple of things that this game gone through!

1. Village camera changed from Orthographic to Perspective and I'm loving the new looks. I've created a nice video footage that shows how it looks like. Check it out!
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Also in Graphic Options, player is able to turn off weather, in case he needs better optimization.
Will probably add more optimization options, like to turn off the vegetation, if player will need it.

2. Village will contain various traders too, where you will be able to buy some custom upgrades for your workshop. One in the works are for example carpets!
Carpet merchant will sell you many types of them, where your reputation will play also a role in obtaining some nice advantages.
But, with a possible close camera angle and this nice bear pelt, it all looks pretty cool and pelts won't even catch on fire! :D

3. Flag creator - I'm currently working on custom flag creator, where player will have options to pick 4 flag shapes, various colours, combination of logos and such. It's quite tricky to set it all up, but it will solve a lot of customizing things.

There is ton of content being created now and I don't want to show everything, but will update you next week with some interesting stuff!

So stay tuned and if you haven't done so, please consider supporting my project through ko-fi to help me pay my bills, as I don't have any income atm and am a poor peasant!

Cheers,

Early Access development continues

Greetings kings, queens and fellow blacksmiths,

after few weeks of spending on Prologue polishing, I've decide to move on onto the Early Access development as I have a lot of work to do. I've learned a lot from the release and had some great customer feedback that will be implemented over time!

Now is a great time to report your suggestions or thoughts either on discord or in the forums.

So what will be in the works these days exclusively for Early Access?

1. More focus on the village, as the building will be a part of the gameplay, such as, unlocking tavern will actually involve the building next to you to become the tavern!

I'll expand the village a bit more, so player can move around with cursor a bit more and the arena will also be included there, including marketplace!

2. Arena - I've spent weeks of trying hard to implement a real time combat, while I came up to a point where AI would be a big issue and I don't really have resources to do it the way I want. So I've decided to use my previous experience with Turn-based combat and I'm really happy with the results! The combat will be swift and also entertaining. Since it's a bonus feature, it also fits the game pretty well.

There will be a list of abilities that player can do, such as Regular Attack, Precise Attack, Kick or Block. Each action will of course have different outcome.

Knocking down or stun will be an issue and actions will cost Stamina!

Blocking next ability or attack will be necessary to survive against stronger enemies.

There will also be stances like Aggressive, Defensive, Passive, etc, that will give you bonuses to each things respectively.

It's only a brief display but I'm finally marching forward again and after frustrating weeks doing something I couldn't do, have the good feel, that game is going the right direction again!

I'll also work on making the floor and walls placement be draggable, so will bring you news, once there is something to show!

Till that time, please show me your support and I'll have more news later on!

Cheers,

VM Machal

Support the Solo Dev

Hello dear fans and players,

with the release of Prologue, I've been working on this game over a year now. By checking the latest user reviews and a little research, I've come to a point where I'd appreciate any help with the development from the community!

I'm a single dev working on this and really would love to make this career on a professional level! There is no team or corporation behind me. Not receiving any money from anyone and I'd appreciate if there are any lovely souls willing to donate what they want on my Ko-Fi account.

Those who know me from Twitch, I was always reluctant about this whole idea. It's not pleasant for me to ask people for money, so I've been delaying this whole thing as long as I could.
Even though I have publisher, they're doing a great job with helping me from the marketing and QA side, I'm alone with the whole game.

I've created some general posts on Ko-Fi, so people will have an idea where the donation is going.

So, if you're interested to help funding Blacksmith Legends development, please click the below button. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Blacksmith Legends: Prologue now released!

Dear blacksmiths,

I am now proud to announce that Prologue is officially released in the store. It's pretty much a longer version than demo and contains bit more content, but more importantly, user's can now write reviews. Based on these reviews a lot of things will be decided in the future.

So please, take a moment of your time and write a review about your thoughts of playing this game! I'll be very thankful.

Check out the Prologue here.

As a tribute to Dan Fields, who liked my game and helped me spread it over his YT channel, I've created in-game flag with his logo theme.

This flag will be also applied to all mining carts in world map. Didn't have time to create also banners for walls, but it's on my to-do list!

As you know that I'm doing a lot of community work, feel free to let me know, what would you love to have in-game! :)

As this is the last free content release from my side, I'm now focused on the EA release that will hopefully be ready in few months.

The Armory is getting re-worked and I'm quite happy with the results, where you will be able to see what you equipped on the gladiator.

The combat on the other hand is the biggest challenge. As it should be as smooth as possible, I don't want any overlaps of cloth or lazy animations.
As this project is becoming too big for myself, I'll be looking for a small team if possible, that can help me with a lot of stuff, since micromanaging everything is really time consuming and creates a lot of delay! :)

Needless to say, very much enjoy your support, couldn't have more lovely community of players that are also extremely helpful and patient!

Stay tuned for future updates!
