Early Access release date revealed!

Hello dear blacksmiths,

so today, I'm happy to announce, that the Early Access release date will be on 18th January! Don't want to jinx it though, so currently I'm polishing the game from bugs. Playing it over and over and trying to give the smoothest experience possible.

Alchemist is preparing some potions together wigh blacksmiths and smelter around. So after some optimization and balance I've decided to have things more accessible from the beginning.

Player will be able to hire up to 10 employees even in Mirstone. Although, it will be probably impossible due to small workshop space. So, the motivation to move to Wanborne (bigger city map) will be better and thus allows you to expand and hire more workers.

There are a lot of things you can do and hopefully, all will blend in well together and Early Access goes well!

There will be playtest at the beginning of January, so all interested people will be more than welcome to find and discover some bugs, balance issues and so on. You know, it's always better to get guidance from the community!

Wish you all merry christmas and happy holidays! See you next year! Stay safe!

Early Access update #6

Greetings everyone,

after couple of weeks I bring again exciting news that I'd like to share with you. So the closed beta testing is going slow, but we're making good progress.
Also I'm going to add one more final patch with content and then it will all be about polishing until the Early Access will start!

1. Library & Research - will be achievable from Commonwealth lvl. 2. in Mirstone already, so that unlocks library. In short, you will be able to craft and buy common/magical recipes from vendors or quests. BUT, rare, epic and legendary will have to be researched and obtained through difficult monsters and quests! This won't be an easy path! However, legendaries will not be present in Early Access yet. There is a lot of fun doing lower tier stuff and player most definitely won't be bored. Because, it's not all just about the goal, but the journey.

2. New player location - after Mirstone, when you gather enough money and have your workshop well established, you can move on forth towards new challenges. Unlocking the new area will grant you bigger workshop and more employees!

3. Elements and combat - fire/ice/poison are so far implemented elements in BSL. Mid game you will face monsters that can be immune to certain magic school types. So wearing weapons that add bonus element damage won't affect them. So why bother at all when you got base damage? Because, there can be monsters immune to physical damage too!

4. Putting it all together. So basically, there is, crafting, selling, quests, reputation, heroes, resource and employee management, arena battles, elemental damages and counters, cities with merchants, research....it's still not everything that should be there, however, it all provides a good fun and I believe after some time it will blend together perfectly!

All I need is your love and support, so continue being great!

Early Access update #5

Dear blacksmiths,

hope everyone is doing well, I was as usual quite busy about figuring out new features and so getting closer to finishing the EA plan. Let's elaborate a bit on what is being done and will be currently tested.

1. Alchemist profession is here - so basically making potions, scrolls and books. This is pretty much a support class for blacksmith, but will bring it's own unique set of things that will affect a lot of things in the game.

2. Potions for heroes and employees - pretty much self explanatory. However potions grant only temporary bonuses, whether it's for 1 fight for heroes or few hours for employees, they are quite efficient.

Some basic potions are Beer mix (not typical beer, but, let's say some non-alcoholic booster :D) and Coffee (which wasn't until like 17th century in Europe, but, this is also a fantasy, so whatever.)

You can see that Alchemist is in an early phase, so a lot of recipes need to be done in the upcoming days!

With a single button, player can enable distributing potions to employees, so they will use them on their own will. This is huge. You just have to set up some nice infrastructure chain and few alchemists who will make sufficient potions and they can boost everyhitng.
Not to mention, that potions will be required to craft some legendaries in the future. Let's say, that you need to have some sort of super temporary power to do it!

3. Gemstones for Smelter - finishing Smelter functionality, apart from Runes for enchanting, there will be gemstones that he can craft from a new special resource.

The only way to get that resource is to find special gemstone deposits. So interatction with world map is essential.
Gemstones take a lot of time to produce, but are expensive to sell compared to any other item and can be also used in production of specific jewelry,.

4. Debugging and optimisation - thanks to few brave beta testing individuals, I've been about to fix hundres of bugs and improve some functionalities! Thought it is time consuming, so polishing EA will take whole November and December probably.

That being said, EA is to be expected in January, but don't want to promise anything yet. I'm quite comfy with the way it progresses now, but don't want to jinx it.

Best thing you can do is wish me luck and support me as that's something that is really necessary here! :)

I'll be back in another 3ish weeks with some new report and news.

Stay Tuned!

Early Access update #4

Hello my fellow blacksmiths,

so after a bit later period of time, I'm quite happy that I've been able to start first part of testing for BSL. Let me introduce you some interesting stuff that I've changed and what's going to happen.

1. Enchanting - after some time, player will be able to enchant his items through this enchanting cube, where you will be able to put 1 rune and 1 scroll and enchant item of your choice.

This will introduce smelter in a different light as that profession will be able to craft Runes and Gemstones.

Let me elaborate here:

I'm not sure, if I can implement changing of the icon, like visually it may not be distinct, but enchanting will bring further stat enhancement of items. This opens a broad spectrum of possibilities, whereas I can put runes that give simple stats and also special abilities e.g. Lifesteal, random chances and so on.

2. Items, because more depth is important - player will also be able to unlock 4 additional techniques, which will have impact on overall item quality, durability and so on.
Yes, durability will now be a thing for weapons/armor, mainly for the Arena feature.

So an item that is represented by that little iron bar icon means that it's been hardened during the crafting process. Brings up more durability and even higher price.

3. Why should I do these better items in particular? Well, not even to advance in economy, but also to progress in Arena. Some things were completely redesigned.
Player now gets a display of what you and enemy are wearing. In order to bring more focus on the gear, durability will have significant impact. You can focus to attack at 4 different body parts. If he has armor equipped, it will take the shots from the weapon, but will slowly lose durability. If you attack enemy at body parts, where he isn't wearing anything, he will lose HP instead.

4. Hiring and employees - this thing got a massive overhaul as in Mirstone, player will be able to have up to 8 employees, including heroes. All based on your fame. How to get fame? Do quests or fight in Arena! This will increase the play time in this village, which is my intention. You will have a lot of things to do, in order to maintain them.

5. Robbery - as player gets famous, he will be a target of thieves. If you don't place items in your workshop that will grant you security bonuses, you will be punished by these malicious people! :)

As I don't want to reveal too many stuff, all of this will be tested during upcoming weeks and I'll keep adding more content and depth. Balance will be very important, especially for economy, as I don't want Easy difficulty to be too easy!
So all of this will depend on testers and how it all goes.

Stay tuned!

Early Access update #3

Greetings to all blacksmiths,

here I come with another update of the Early Access content and what I've done over the past 2 weeks!

1. Bulletin board and vendors - so after the Prologue completion, I'm giving players full freedom of what course will they take, as some have been putting remarks, that their gameplay is limited. I need to handhold most players so they understand the basics and then they can move on their own!

Bulletin board will contain frequent quests that player can take or doesn't have to. Each can provide various rewards or recipes.

2. Reputation items - as there will be various vendors, building reputation will be important in obtaining strong magical stuff, to your heroes or for your workshop.
One of the many examples are treasure chests!

Heavenly chest will provide you with random resource every day. The evil chest can give you gold!

3. Treasury logbook - as the weeks progress, at the moment there is no history to track on how you've been doing in the past. That's why I'm implementing a logbook that will track each week's numbers and statistics, so you can compare!

4. Bunch of new bandit enemies - in new quests, player can meet epic enemies, one of them is Valkyrie. You better gear up before that battle!

5. New heroes to recruit - as mentioned above, based on your reputation, you will have access to different types of heroes, with different abilities, thus different battle outcome!

6. Multiple employees management - currently, I'm working on optimizing the performance when player hires multiple workers. I've had to remove shadows from Torches and Brazier as it started to become laggy over time.

So, lot of things that I'm working on, but it's starting to become very big for me a as single person. As I'll reach a point of 4 hours of gameplay, I'll have to create a small beta testing team of individuals that will search for bugs and report whole feel from playing the game.
Afterwards I can continue on!

For those interested in how I do all the stuff step by step, check me out on Twitch.
Your support is greatly appreciated, keep it up!
