2021 Winter Update - New Release Date

Announcement - Now aiming EA on Q1 2022


We updated our early access release date to Q1 2022. Instead of the planned 2 heroes, we are going to release 3 heroes: Wukong, White Dragon, and Holy Monk. Each hero’s story mode includes 3 chapters and 19 levels of trials. We will also release an endless game mode, in parallel with the story mode. We apologize for the inconveniences.

[h2]New Monkey King Hair System[/h2]
We redesigned the mechanism of Monkey King Hair. Now the new hair card can summon a little monkey to fight alongside Wukong. Each little monkey has 1HP, and will attack once with 3 base damage when Wukong attacks - a nice way to leverage powers or relics that favor multiple attacks or multiple allies.

[h2]Statistics and Achievement[/h2]
Now every playthrough will be recorded and analyzed by the new statistics and achievement system. We will continue to add new achievements as more heroes and game modes are released.

Major updates


[h2]Trial mode[/h2]

We have added a trial mode on top of normal story mode. After finishing a normal game, you will be able to enter trial mode. Currently we released 16 trial levels, each adding incremental challenges to the game.



[h2]Black market redesign[/h2]
Black Market was redesigned to include entirely new functionality and improved strategic importance during gameplay. Besides purchasing special cards, relics, and consumables, you can also purify spirits, upgrade companions, and purchase talent points.



Spirit Purification is an interesting new function. You can purify the spirit of NPCs you’ve encountered and seal it into a bottle of purification. Later you will be able to use it as a helping hand in combat. The consumable “Bottle of Purification” is not required to perform Spirit Purification.



Purchase Talent Point - now 1 talent point is available each time you enter a black market, starting at 500 gold.

Upgrade Companion is moved from camp to black market.


[h2]In-game compendium[/h2]
We built an in-game compendium so that players can check out full information about cards, relics, consumables, and NPCs anywhere in the game.

Added 2 new bosses to act 1. We now have 3 sets of bosses in total:

  • Skeleton Queen
  • Gold Horn and Silver Horn Masters
  • Spider Queen

[h2]Build your team![/h2]
The long journey of battling darkness and the finding truth is never a lonely one. On the contrary, the journey becomes exciting and full of surprises with teammates. A companion comes with 2-4 unique cards to add into your deck, and a unique special talent to empower the whole team.

You can recruit companions in camp or merchant locations: There are 13 available to hire at the moment. You will also have chances to meet and invite some special companions to join your team in events.


[h2]Stealing[/h2]

Now you can use stealing tools (consumable) or certain neutral cards to steal from NPCs: you can get gold, special consumables, relics or cards depending on whom you are stealing from.

[h2]Status combo[/h2]

Added a status combo system: Now two buffs or debuffs can react to each other and composite into a new status. For example: Burning + Poison = Explosion.

[h2]Combat dialogs[/h2]
Events and dialogs during combat are now connected. Choices in events and encounters will result in different story lines and dialogs. Moreover, boss events will reveal important information about bosses that might affect the ending.

Right click on the hero, companions, or NPCs to get more information (including current intent, status and skill information).

[h2]Wukong card balancing[/h2]
  • Shapeshifting - now you can copy the enemy’s intent using a shapeshifting card and the card will return to hand. You can also discharge a copied shapeshifting card during combat so you can copy a new intent.
  • Meditation - now Wukong can learn skills from all NPCs (if you have at least one shapeshifting cards in the deck) that have been encountered before through the “Meditation” function in Camp.
  • Hair - most hair related cards will generate hairs based on previous used hair type.
  • Monkey King Bar - as the Wukong’s initial relic, the Monkey King Bar will grand an Initial card “high initiative” to change both the length and heaviness.
  • Evasion - Nimble fighter, sacrifice Constitution for speed and damage


[h2]NPC balancing[/h2]
  • Simplified NPC's skill sets and optimized AI
  • Each group you meet now has their specific strategy, the goal is to make each battle more challenging and fun
