News - Happy Easter Scrappers!

Hi all and Happy Easter to those who celebrate.

After a couple of days off to spend with family and friends I am excited to get back into developing Scrapping Simulator.

We have a few things planned for the next update, we are intending to prioritize flaws in current features, The priority list is currently:


  1. Character Overhaul - Remove Standard Unity Character and use more smoother more responsive Controller.

  2. Furnace Overhaul - Completely Redo the entire furnace setup, this may more resemble the Chemical Process in regards of having less interactable objects and more animations (this will fix all current issues with the Crucible not remembering its metal, temperatures not being reached, possiblity of losing the crucible)

  3. Saving/Loading System - We intend to fully redo the saving and loading system the intention for this is to stop all possibilites of random curruption occurring, also lowering the huge SaveFile size which in turn will lower the time it takes to load and save data.

  4. eWaste Object Optimistation - We are making some big changes to the eWaste objects, eWaste objects on the Streets are simply just a shell, they contain no innards like screws ect, though when you pickup the object thats when it Spawns the actual object containing all the bits and pieces, we are going to be changing this so the object with the innards only spawns once you attach the object to the Disassembly Table, we will have to incorperate this into the Saving and Loading System so that Non-Inner containing Objects are also saved, this is what will save a lot of time saving and loading.


!FORE WARNING!

This will likely mean that your old savefiles WILL become corrupt with said above changes. Measures will be taken to avoid the 'Forever Loading Loop' so to fix that if the Save File Version you are loading is on the list of Corruptable Versions, then clicking 'Continue' will be much the same as clicking 'Start New Game' and you will be prompted with a notification stating that your Old Save is no longer compatible with the New Version.
We do sincerly apologise for the loss of data we know this can be really annoying, though please understand that this is to fix current lingering issues and all these updates combined should really boost performance and the overall fell for the game.

Ingot Storage Update - v0.23

Update v0.23 Is Live!

  • Added a visual display as to where ingots will be released from the Carry Box.

  • Baked Lighting in higher resolution, resulting in better Baked Shadows and Lighting Theme.

  • Optimised overall performance by removing lights from the Street Lamps.

  • Optimised the Pawn Shop Objects by removing Mesh Colliders, Adding Box Colliders and LODs.

  • Made Screw colliders larger to make them easier to click, also adjusted some other colliders that make it difficult to click some screws.

  • Updated the Pawn Shop both with optimizations and aestetics.

  • Added the Shelf in the Garage as a new purchasable for a way to store upto 162x ingots.

  • Changed 'Game Bugs' button text to 'Bug Fixes'

  • Made it so the buttons in 'Bug Fixes' cannot be clicked if you do not own the respected object.

  • Added Temporary fix for Ingots not being able to be picked up.

  • Fixed Some UI elements being covered by the Website Link.

  • Fixed the Pawn Shop door animations being too slow to open up and closing too fast.

  • Tweaked Furnace scripts hoping to fix the difference betweeen furnace temp and crucible temp.



Server and Power Update - v0.22

Update v0.22 Is Live!

[h3]Server Explained:[/h3]
The Server is a new Item that has been implemented into the game, this item is unlike its counterpart the 'Windox PC' the windox PC on delivery has many randomizations that can limit the amount of profit made, for example you may be find yourself a PC that has no HDDs no RAM no VIdeo Cards, though the Server is like Every other item, it is what it is, meaning each time you will get 8x RAM Sticks, 8x 10tb HDDs 2 CPUs ect, thus it has been made quite rare and can only be found by wondering the streets.

[h3]Power and Bills Explained:[/h3]
The power works by using the type of light bulb currently being used (Light upgrades, ie LEDs, to lower power bills will be coming in the future) in the case of this update only Halogen is available now and each light uses 60KWh.
If you hover over any light switch you will see the amount of power the switch will be drawing while active, some lights ie the Garage lights in particular will use more power as they are the Tube Flouresent Lights, also if you notice a switch that says it uses '120KWh' and not '60KWh' thats due to 2x lights being hooked up to that one switch.
No matter what even if every light is switched off in the house there is a default current of 20KWh being drawn this is to compensate for the Desk Computer being in sleep mode and comodities like the Fridge, Microwave ect.
While using your Desk Computer it uses quite a bit of power, so keep that in mind if you are trying to conserve power usage (yes the Solar panels on the roof will be a purchasable & functionable upgrade in the future!).
You can check your current power usage by going outside to your Front Porch/Varanda near the Stairs you will find a yellow box on the wall of your house, this represents the Power Meter and if you hover over it, it will display your Current Draw amount, Total Draw amount this Cycle and the estimated cost this Cycle, each Cycle is 30mins.
Leaving the bill unpaid for too long will result in a Warning, after that you will be slapped with a 10% penalty fee for being overdue if it is left further you will receive a 20% overdue fee, if left further the owed amount including penalties will be withdrawn from your account weather you have the funds for it or not so be sure to pay your bills on time!
You will know when a bill arrives by getting a Notification with a new SFX, also by the Orange Info Icon above the Mailbox, you can pay the bill simply by pressing 'E' on the Mailbox (This will be further polished and refined in the future *Spoiler* post office, delivery updates ect).

  • Optimised a handfull of scripts.

  • Fixed eWaste Item Effects sometimes starting on an angle.

  • Regenerated LightMaps in more optimized options and to compensate for turning the house lights to RealTime.

  • Added LODs to Houses for better optimisation.

  • Fixed LODs on Street Lamps for better optimisation.

  • Tidied up a handful of scripts and fixed all startup Warnings.

  • Fixed gold prices.

  • Fixed Price checker staying up after you leave the Trader while hovering over a button.

  • Fixed Laptop being delivered as an LCD TV.

  • Fixed Furnace Lid 'isOpen' script value being saved, but not the Lid Animation itself.



Patch Fixes v0.21 - v0.21.3

This is only a small patch though It fixes a few issues with the saving and loading of both the furnace objects and gold refining objects.
