The Pegasus Expedition launches in Early Access on October 20, 2022!

Hello Directors,
It is our absolute pleasure to announce that you will be able to lead your expedition into the Pegasus Galaxy starting October 20, 2022. We have prepared a new teaser trailer for you to take a sneak peek at the upgraded visuals of the game, we can't wait for you to try it for yourselves!

After many discussions and feedback from all of you - thank you very much for that, keep it coming, please! - we came to the conclusion that the originally planned single story campaign would not be enough content to satisfy our fans. That's why we have decided to launch the game in Early Access - even at launch it will feature the full campaign with a complete story, which should take around 20 hours to complete, but we have prepared a plan to add more variability and new features to the game to significantly increase its replayability and variability.

We plan to release several content updates, each bringing a new scenario - a customized campaign, very different from the main story - as well as new features, polish and bugfixes based on the feedback from our community. Here is the detailed roadmap for the Early Access period:
EA Content Update #1 - December 2022 / January 2023
• New Scenario: Scattered Empires.
 • A new way to play the game with randomised starting positions and customised start settings for those who want to have a more traditional 4X experience without the story of The Pegasus Expedition.
 • Gameplay updates:
 • Quality of life improvements, including expanded camera controls and UI elements to better manage players' empire in late game.
EA Content Update #2
• New Scenario: At the Center of It All.
 • A challenging game format where the player starts with the galaxy’s large and rich center under their control, but is on an inevitable course to an all out war with all other factions.
 • Gameplay updates:
 • Environmental hazards now affect some systems of the Pegasus galaxy, making them dangerous for fleets and posing a new challenge for players.
EA Content Update #3
• New Scenario: The Height of the Empire.
 • A scenario where the player is immediately thrust into combat with the entirety of the Tamanin Empire from the start of the campaign. As an alternate history setting, the Tamanin Empire was never split in this scenario, and the full wrath of the Empress will be felt by humanity.
 • Gameplay updates:
 • Updates and changes to the game's faction AI to make them more robust when dealing with war and economy.
 • Diplomacy improvements: Updates to the logic and behavior of other factions within the diplomacy system to improve player experience when using it.
EA Content Update #4
• New Scenario: The Exodus.
 • A scenario where the player starts in an unknown galaxy, chased by an overwhelming tide with the only objective being to survive this endless wave.
 • Gameplay updates:
 • Visual enhancements for the game’s combat system and star systems.
 • Improved visual feel and functionality for Endgame enemies.
FULL RELEASE - 2023
• New Campaign: The Purge.
 • A new campaign that features a new playable faction with powerful unique abilities, but also crippling limitations. Spawn and multiply across the galaxy to consume and destroy all life in the Pegasus Galaxy before it manages to unite against you.
 • Various bugfixes, general polish and quality of life improvements based on community feedback

The Art & Graphic Design - DevDiary 5

Hello Directors!

Another Dev Diary is here and it's not the only good news we have! Until October 3, you can win free Steam keys for The Pegasus Expedition! All you have to do is follow a few simple steps on The Spaceshipper's Twitter. Simple enough, isn't it?

Previous installments:

The Pegasus Expedition features a large library of custom thematic artwork, used as one of the core methods of storytelling within the game. Feeding into the game’s narrative focus, art pieces are habitually used in a wide array of ways, ranging from dialogue and animated cutscenes to the instantiation of each event, crisis and side story, and illustrating the user interface views.

The game’s art style is semi-realistic, focusing on a dark and deep color palette to go hand in hand with its narrative themes. This ties the games down to earth “low-scifi” tone, which gives ground to mixing contemporary design into a sci-fi setting and giving natural artistic anchors for its realistic atmosphere.

Council views are the most common artwork seen in the dialogue view, and are the primary way of conducting dialogue with the game’s characters. The game’s most important factions each have their own council view, featuring a meeting room with each important character belonging to that faction. Each character’s sprites are created in a way that their facial expressions react to what’s being said and indicate who is talking at each given moment. The parallax effect, the same animation method that’s used in the cutscenes, brings additional depth and movement to the view.

Each culture, humans and aliens, have their own unique visual theme and appearance, which councils, character designs and 3D-models of ships and stations are designed to match to.

The game’s user interface is very simplistic to make it as clear and readable as possible, as the mechanical information the player needs to identify from it is very complex in many cases. The minimal but decorative look is designed to give any gameplay view an elegant and delicate feel.

And that’s it for today, a little peek to the artsy side of the game! The Pegasus Expedition is full of brilliant art for you to experience, so don’t forget to wishlist the game and join our Discord server to be the first one to see the updates about the game!
