(Patch Note) Base Decor and More - Update Preview (03.02.2023)
Greetings from Orbis!
We’ve got a jam-packed patch for all of you soon-to-be interior designers.
If you’ve been wanting more ways to personalize your base, we’ve got what you’ve been waiting for.
But if you’re not ready to tackle interior decorating, we’ve got 3 new sets of armor, 9 new gun attachments, turret improvements, and raiding buffs to a couple melee weapons.
📒 Decorate your base!
Starting from this patch, you’ll be able to turn that cold, dark base of yours into a warm, inviting home.
With item recipes that you can acquire in the game lobby’s “Terra Shop”, you’ll be able to decorate and organize your base in new and fun ways.
Aside from the bed and the shelves, all of the decor in this patch is non-functional. We plan to wall shelves soon that will also serve as a place to store items.
These item recipes are unavailable by default. You’ll have to use your terrapoints to unlock their crafting recipes.
Reminder: Terrapoints can be earned daily by logging in, and they’ll also be paid out weekly to players according to their ranking tier. They are different from the points you receive when transmitting terrasite.
Here’s one way you might decorate your base:

And here’s another:
📒 Color-code your chests
You’ll also find three new colors of chests that you can unlock.
So for those of you that enjoy visually organizing your chests, this should open up quite a few new ways to keep track of which items are in which chest.
📒 Rad new armor!
Hazmat suits give you 50% radiation protection, making them a solid Tier 3 choice for survivors that often visit the Orbis bases. The only issue is that they’re a bit difficult to craft.
For players that are just getting started, we have 3 new suits for you to try out: the Cryo Suit, the Pyro Suit, and the Rad Suit. These Tier 2 suits will only give you 30% protection against their respective elements, but it should be enough for those of you venturing into dangerous territory.
From left to right: Rad Suit, Cryo Suit, Pyro Suit
📒 9 New Gun Attachments
We’re adding 3 new compensators, 3 new silencers, and 3 new vertical grips.

Each type of attachment has 4 levels for you to choose from. The existing standard attachments are now “level 2”. We’re also hoping to add even more attachments some day. Keep in mind that we had to adjust the stats of existing attachments to fit with the new number of attachments.
📒 2 existing weapons can now have attachments
The Shotgun RF-9 and the Assault Rifle TAR-1A can now have a muzzle. So feel free to choose between a silencer or a compensator the next time you’re gearing up.
📒 Name and Stat Changes to two melee weapons
Raiding has mostly been secluded to mines and rockets, but we’re hoping to open that up more with the repurposing of battle hammers into “siege hammers.”
The Siege Hammer IGX-1(battle hammer) will give 100% damage to building parts, while the Siege Hammer IGXX-100 will give 200% damage to building parts.
Battle Hammer → SIEGE HAMMER IGX-1
Great Battle Hammer → SIEGE HAMMER IGXX-100
(Names are still subject to change)
📒 Changes to Existing Recipes
As we try to make raiding more approachable, we also want to make rockets cheaper.
We’ve changed the recipe from
5 Fine Metal, 5 Fine Wires, 1 Superior Blasting Agent
to
2 Fine Metal, 2 Fine Wires, 1 Superior Blasting Agent
📒 Turret Improvements
We can’t make raiding easier without considering base defense.
We’ve also changed turrets so that as you upgrade a turret, each level has faster bullets and higher accuracy with the exception of the shotgun turret because it’s made for close encounters like being hidden inside one’s base.
📒 Teleporting Improvements
When leaving the hyena den or bunker, players were plopped onto the beach.
While we changed the location for better convenience, we also realized that players may spawn next to a not-so friendly mob, or another player might catch them off guard.
That’s why we instituted a 10 second window of invincibility when teleporting anywhere.
We’ve also adjusted teleport destinations when leaving the bunker.
You’ll now arrive somewhere near the main road(where the bunker entrances are) as opposed to being dropped on the beach. We’re hoping this should shorten commute times by a significant amount.
📒 Changes to Item Drops
The following containers/mobs now have a chance to contain the following.
Hyena Secure Crate:
2 superior Blasting Agents OR 4 Fine Blasting Agents
Hyena Transport Box:
2 Superior Blasting Agents
Hyena Heavy Buster:
6 Superior Blasting Agents
Hyena Heavy Assaulter:
2 superior Blasting Agents OR 4 Fine Blasting Agents
📒 Bug Fixes
We’ve also made several bug fixes. You can see them all in our update note once it’s up.
But here are a couple of the bigger fixes.
⚪ Items weren’t going into the forge. Now they do.
⚪ Shotgun damage was sometimes showing as ‘0’. It should display accurately now.
⚪ There were occasions of players losing building core privileges when their core somehow overlapped with another core. We added some code to prevent this from happening.
Remember that this isn’t everything.
You can always read the update note to know about every single thing we’ve changed in this patch.
I’ll see you on Friday with the Dev Note.
