7/18/23 - Quick (Unfortunate) Chaos Chain Status Update (Please Read)

TLDR: I need some time to grieve. Please forgive the slight delay on the next update.

Hey.

This is just to keep everyone in the loop of what's going on with the game.

I'm not to get into a ton of detail or write an essay that no one will read, but I just found out that I'll be losing yet another beloved pet that I grew up with - within the next few days. This makes number three this year, sadly. On top of losing some family members recently as well, this is a lot to deal with right now.

He's in a lot of pain and his quality of life has greatly diminished and we do not want him to suffer. Luckily, he has lived a good long life and knows he is loved and has been treated well - always. I'm grateful for that.

Like last time - just two months ago - I will not able to see him before this takes place. So, there will be no way for me to visit him one last time before this happens and say our goodbyes. To be quite honest, I'm writing this trying to hold back a lot of frustration because I was closest with him out of them all. I knew the time would come eventually, but it doesn't make it any less painful.

So, I'm just asking for everyone to be patient with my as I work on the next update. It's probably going to take me a little longer than anticipated due to these circumstances. I already have a lot of work done on it, I'm in the middle of several things with it, but I just need a little while longer to get everything squared away as I process all the loss that has been surrounding me over the past few months. Especially this new loss.

I deeply apologize for the delay. I'll get back to working on Chaos Chain asap. I'm even planning to continue working, but I don't know how productive I will be over the next few days.

7/1/23 - Chaos Chain Patch 1.13.1

Salutations, dwellers...

Got notified of a few small issues last night. Here's a quick patch to resolve them. Check out the change log below!

Bug Fixes:
  • FIXED a Hexer having no interaction dialogue
  • FIXED some text running off screen when talking to Syid
  • FIXED a dialogue issue in the side quest "Shady Dealings" which could cause a hang up

6/29/23 - Chaos Chain Update 1.13.0

Salutations, dwellers...

Here is another update that I threw together after spending some time playtesting the game for awhile over the past two days.

*Please note that these changes are not in any particular order.*

Bug Fixes:
  • FIXED some icon art clipping
  • FIXED an old calculation in the character window which displayed the wrong amount of max action/ability points
  • Temporarily set the leadership passive ability for the main character to hidden as the system is much different now than when I originally put that in


Changes & Additions:
  • If a character selects a target in combat to attack and the target dies before the character's turn, their attack will automatically go against another random enemy
  • Updated all attack skills that target multiple random enemies so that if an enemy dies but all the attacks haven't been performed, it will auto select another random enemy (Huge thanks to DonPatchRM for this one)
  • Stabilize ability now costs 10 AP instead of 5
  • Defib Stabilize ability now costs 7 AP instead of 10
  • Medtech Stability ability (Drones) now costs 15 AP instead of 20
  • Medtech Treatment ability (Drones) now costs 10 AP instead of 15
  • Whenever a companion or character enters a crisis (Hitting 0 health or 0 mettle) outside of combat, ALL other characters who still have health and mettle will automatically gain AP equal to their (resolve + a random value from 0 min to 5 max) so that they can attempt to save the character/companion in the crisis (This is to help with instances where a character will be badly hurt in combat and have a lingering status effect which kills them afterwards - It felt sort of weird that there was absolutely NO possible way to save them in some cases. At least now, there may be a CHANCE to save them - even if you don't have the resources available. This change obviously makes smelling salts, defib units, medtech attachments for drones, and the stabilize ability MUCH more valuable since they have further utility now.)
  • Added character current Ability/Action Point visibility to the menu
  • Replaced the base 1 AP saved at the end of battle to a random number from 0 min to 3 max
  • Technological background unique ability "Avert Lockdown" now also reduces the firewall's chance to counter attacks by 5% if triggered (It felt like the weakest of all the unique abilities by far)
  • Various other minor tweaks
