Patch notes v1.5.1 - Fixes to Steam cloud sync issues

We've gotten a few reports of players losing their save progress. This was due to how the game synchronized Steam cloud saves with local saves, and the issue would occur when you switched between enabling and disabling Steam cloud. We've now changed how the game deals with Steam cloud saves and this issue should not occur anymore.

This change requires no action from you as a player. Just launch the game and play as you normally would. Unless you want to switch between local and cloud, or something goes wrong with your save file, there should be no need for you to manually manage your saves.

Change log:

  • Fixed an issue with the game sometimes overwriting an old save with a new one when switching between Steam cloud enabled and disabled.
  • You now have two parallel active saves: one saved locally on your computer and one on the cloud. When cloud is enabled, it uses the cloud save and when cloud is disabled or unavailable, it uses the local save. The game will never automatically try to convert a save between the two places.
  • You can now view all your save files in the main menu under "Manage saves". There you can set an older save as active or copy a local save to the cloud.

1.5.0 - Fly Twins and new achievements

Hey all. It's time for a small content update!

We've added a new optional miniboss, Fly Twins, somewhere in the world for you to find and fight. We've also added a big batch of new achievements, both easy ones as well as some very challenging ones.

Full change log:

  • Added the new Fly Twins miniboss.
  • Changed the location of Trash Key.
  • Added 29 new achievements.
  • Harmful liquid effects (poison, acid etc.) now don't get applied to you while dashing.
  • Fixed a Soul Shrine softlock when an enemy would for any reason appear outside the arena.
  • Fixed being able to kill some bosses twice which would usually cause either a softlock or a crash.
  • Fixed stuttering caused by the game being auto-saved during gameplay.
  • Fixed Doctor Antstrong sometimes getting stuck laying down and not attacking you.
  • Fixed Ladybug Shrines, Coffee Makers etc. sometimes spawning on top of each other.
  • Fixed Slow-Mo Potion not replenishing between levels.
  • Fixed Soul Shrine sometimes not getting generated into Ant City.
  • Fixed "controller disconnected" text not appearing when playing singleplayer.
  • Fixed many performance issues.
  • Miscellaneous other bug, crash and visual fixes.

1.4.0 - Save & quit, and more!

Hey all!

Being able to save, quit and continue a run was a feature that we've thought about even before launch but never really had the time to implement it properly. Now, after hearing lots of feedback from you all, we've found that this is easily one of the most requested features. Today, in update 1.4.0, it's finally here!

[h3]Save and quit[/h3]

You can save and quit a run whenever you find a special altar, stand on it and interact with it. You'll find them at certain places of the world, namely all shops as well as the little nook after every main boss fight. You don't have to look for them, you'll run into all of them inevitably.



Remember that the altars are the only place you can safely save and quit in! If you die, end the run or quit the game by any other means, you'll lose your progress of that run.

We've also utilized the save system to add another feature: If the game happens to crash mid-run, you can restore and continue the run when you start up the game again. You'll only have to start over the level you crashed in instead of starting over the entire run. Note that it is possible for the game to crash in an extraordinarily unexpected way so that even this feature won't be able to save your run, but it will work in 99% of the cases.

In addition to the save and quit feature, we have some other smaller features and fixes. Here's the full changelog:

  • You can now save and quit a run at certain places in the world and then continue that run later.
  • If the game crashes, you can restore and continue the run when you start up the game again.
  • You can now add in more players during a run while visiting any shop.
  • Kicked players' belongings now spawn in a chest in the next shop.
  • You can now swap controllers between two players in the pause menu.
  • Reduced the number of enemies that Doctor spawns.
  • Made all bosses immune to being stunned, staggered and unconscious.
  • Added variation to Ant Hill Entrance and Hatching Chambers levels' layouts.
  • Added a cooldown to Mato's bite attack so that you can't get stunlocked by getting eaten right after you pop out.
  • Soul Statue now stops raising ghosts in special areas such as all boss areas and shrines.
  • Increased Plasteel Knife's attack speed.
  • Fixed an invisible chest spawning in Haymo's Hideout.
  • Fixed some bosses not spawning any ammo boxes.
  • A bunch of crash fixes.
  • + Lots of miscellaneous bug fixes and visual/audio improvements.

Patch time!

We're working on some new content and features too, but meanwhile, here's a patch of bug fixes and and minor balancing.

Change log:

  • Made Scrapper stop accepting creatures after scrapping one creature. Changed the item drops of certain creatures when scrapped.
  • Fixed Blood, Soul and Trash Statues' toggle states sometimes not being saved and loaded properly between sessions.
  • Fixed performance drops related to ghosts spawning and existing.
  • Fixed some of the performance issues in Flooded Wilds.
  • Fixed a possible soft lock in Mato if you somehow appeared on the next floor below prematurely.
  • Fixed issues with the item descriptions of Demonic Spine, Armor Wax and Beetle Crusher.
  • Fixed a mysterious white box appearing on the ceiling of Flooded Wilds (it was the level exit area clipping through).
  • Fixed bullets sometimes not hitting the enemy if it happens to also hit the ground on the same frame.
  • Fixed player bodies having the wrong sprites after death in multiplayer.
  • Fixed a few crashes.
