We wanted to give you a heads-up on what is coming next to Forever Skies and looking for community feedback on what should possibly come after!

So first up, what do we have in the pipeline?



The Viral Evolution has been live for just over a month now and the feedback we have received from you has been invaluable, so thank you! If you still have something you'd like the team to know about in terms of your thoughts, please do speak out in the forums, under this post, Discord etc.

Since the Viral Evolution update went live, we've been working hard on our next two main updates!

Airship Gardening Concept - WIP

After the snow settles and as we head into the new year, we will be working to deliver the airship gardening update to players. Create your own futuristic gardens on board your airship! Grow plants for food, medicine, paint cartridges, and decorations! This update will also feature more story, new locations, new items, QOL improvements, bug fixes, and more!

Just like before, expect additional hotfixes in between the larger updates. Our team will also be continuing to work on our highly anticipated co-op mode. Yes, please don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten!

Patch EA.1.3.3 (#24022) Now Live

Our next patch - EA.1.3.3 (#24022) has just gone live and includes a bunch of fixes & QOL improvements, a lot of which is based on your feedback from the last big update.

[h3]Performance improvements:[/h3]

Performance on Under the Dust location was improved but we’re not done with it yet - expect more to come!

[h3]Gameplay Changes:[/h3]
  • Difficulty can now be changed at any time from the options menu
  • The players can now recycle additional Deck Extractors in the Recycler


[h3]Fixes[/h3]
  • Crustpede’s and Crustpede Meat's icons and model were changed
  • Fixed a bug where items could be moved from a container to a container directly
  • Player doesn't have to crouch in front of Infected Garden Lab
  • Fixed the bug which caused that players weren’t able to repair broken crates with repair patches
  • Fixed some crates that were spawned in floors
  • Fixed an issue with the airship getting damaged by thunderstorms while docked at a location
  • Fixed an issue where the airship could undock itself from its location
  • Immunity should no longer drop while on tutorial location
  • Mantis and Mantis glands now show proper scannable material
  • You should no longer get stuck in walls when leaving the Medical Station
  • Preternatural Seed should no longer disappear from Med Station when you pick the device up
  • Fixed issues with Garden location not spawning or spawning in mountains
  • Fixed some sheds on the Garden Location that were blocking the path
  • Fixed various floating elements on Rooftop location
  • Crossbow research should now only appear once in the Research Station
  • Added collisions to some of the skyscrapers that were missing
  • Fixed position of a few Crustpedes that were spawning in the air
  • There is now a limit to how many Crustpedes can spawn on a location
  • Fixed the position of some resources that could not be picked up
  • Fixed some performance issues linked to the storm
  • Fixed an Icon for Immunity Booster in the HUD
  • Fixed an issue with loading saves from a previous patch where a completed virus research that no longer exists or has been modified would not grant the proper rewards.


[h3]Known issues:[/h3]
  • After creating the Location Radar, the quest marker for the Garden location might not appear. In this case, the player might have to travel further for the marker to appear.
  • The player might encounter a bigger empty area while they travel. In this case, the player might have to travel further to find new towers.
  • The completion bar in Studies>Research Station>Fabricator might not show 100% even if the player completed every available research.
  • Pressing E repeatedly to enter the Medical Station might cause the player to get stuck.

Community Airship Building Contest - [CONTEST CLOSED]

Get your Airship Builder tools at the ready, Scientists, it's time to launch the [h3]Forever Skies Community Airship Building Contest![/h3]

We can’t wait to see what kind of imaginative bases you can create. The winner will receive a Geforce RTX 4080 graphics card and an exclusive Discord role.

[h2]HOW TO ENTER & RULES[/h2]

  • Contest entries will be accepted only in Discord in the dedicated channel. Join our Discord here.
  • Each entry must have it’s own thread within the channel (details of how to do this can be found in the channel itself)
  • Each player can submit ONE entry only
  • Players can submit their entry with either a minimum of 5 screenshots, or a short video.
  • Go into as much detail as possible. You have a higher chance of winning by documenting your airship well and also by using the Remove HUD feature by pressing F3 to give an unobstructed view.
  • The screenshots have to be the player's own capture, no official Forever Skies screens can be used.
  • Screenshots have to be taken in-game (no HUD is preferable). No third-party software can be used to alter images. E.G. Photoshop.
  • Airships with unofficial balloons from mods will not be accepted.
  • We reserve the right to publish and use your screenshots in Forever Skies promotions
  • Employees and partners of Far From Home are not eligible to enter - this includes their families.
  • This contest is for players in USA, Canada, EU, Australia, Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Ukraine, Turkey and UK only
  • The winner will be decided by members of the studio, Far From Home.

[h2]JUDGING CRITERIA[/h2]

Entries will be judged on three different criteria:

Ambition: How bold is your airship design, does it use the building, painting and decorating system effectively?

Aesthetics: Does your build make us stop and stare? Does it have the “wow” factor?

Practicality: How useful is your airship for your scientific adventure? Is it practical or is it just for show?

Viral Evolution Update Patch Now Live!

[h3]Greetings scientists![/h3]

Thanks to your feedback, we've just released a patch for the Viral Evolution Update to tackle some of the issues raised!

[h3]Here is what was addressed...[/h3]

Fixes:


  • Valid virus name should display in Virus Sample Analyzer.
  • Looped breathing sound during sleep fixed.
  • Scanning Material (effect) for Thorn Bee Hive added
  • Scanning Material (effect)for Locked supply crate added
  • Blood Coagulator Booster now has a valid icon in Research Station
  • Floating Crustpedes issue fixed (they have something to sit on)
  • Fixed issue when quest was saying “Navigate To Location Marked ! On Radar” but there wasn’t any such location visible.
  • Fixed killed bees re-appear after riding the lift up and down.
Immunity:

  • "Normal" (yellow) stat bar contribution to Immunity was slightly increased in all difficulty levels. Meaning Immunity will be depleted less aggressively.
  • On Normal, the critical (red) stat bar will deplete Immunity less aggressively.
  • On Easy, immunity regeneration was slightly buffed - you will very slowly regenerate Immunity even if you have one Critical (red) stat.
  • High immunity disease prevention was buffed - infections on Easy have very low (
  • Damage dealt by Hemorrhage was decreased by 30% on all difficulty levels.
  • Hunger and thirst for players with Gastroenteritis was decreased by 30% on all difficulty levels.
  • Thirst and hunger stat bar consumption was decreased on Easy and Normal by roughly 15%.
  • Added a tutorial popup for the immunity effect.
  • Immunity is now blocked during the tutorial (starting location.)
  • The player can have 2 active boosters at anytime. The immunity level does not affect the maximum number of active boosters.
  • Added a voice message explaining that the player has used more boosters than their maximum capacity.
  • Added voice message warning player about deteriorating immunity (at 75% and 50%)

Balance changes to existing mechanics:
  • Stamina balance has been changed to be more forgiving
  • Natural health regeneration is slightly lowered
  • Endurance Booster now will regenerate stamina quickly rather than stopping it from depleting

Fixes & Changes
  • Active boosters remaining times do not reset after death
  • Fixed an issue with a trigger for picking up water from Water Condenser
  • Automatic Deck Extractor performance improved
  • You can now place some raw Foods in Virus Station
  • Stamina consumption tweaks - decreased stamina consumption and increased stamina regeneration
  • Difficulty level tweaks (Hard should now be slightly easier)
  • Virus samples can’t be produced in the Basic Fabricator any more. Create them in the Virus Sample Analyzer only.
  • “Hide HUD” default key changed from H to F3
Changes to how the Immunity System works:
  • The Immunity System has been reworked. Previously it was directly connected to the sum of your individual stats. Now your Immunity will slowly rise and fall, depending on how well you manage your basic needs. For example, if your character has full bars on Energy, Health and Nutrition, but very low Hydration, your Immunity will slowly drop. If all of your needs are unmet, your Immunity will drop quite quickly - but when you fulfil the needs, it will regenerate naturally. You can also find Immunity-regenerating items - be on the lookout for those!
    High Immunity will shield you from Virus contraction. As viruses are now much more prevalent, you should focus on keeping Immunity as high as possible.

Finally, we would recommend starting a new save in order to fully experience this new content but it isn’t 100% necessary. Your previous saves will also work, however some players might need to travel a short while in order for the new content to trigger.
