As we approach the highly anticipated 1.0 release of Striving for Light, we’re excited to reflect on the journey so far and share some updates about the game and its pricing.

[h3]The new pricing will become active on 18.2.25.[/h3]
We want to make sure to communicate this ahead of time to give everyone planing to purchase Striving for Light the chance to get it at the current low price.

On Feb. 18th the price of Striving for Light will increase from the current $14.99 USD (€14.79) to $17.99 USD (€17.49). This change reflects the incredible growth and expansion of the game’s content since the last price adjustment nearly 1.5 years ago.

During this time, we’ve significantly exceeded our initial content plans, adding a wealth of features and improvements to ensure Striving for Light delivers the most complete and engaging gaming experience possible.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate the major updates and content expansions from the past 1.5 years:

[h3]Awakened Gatekeeper - Eclipse Content Update: [/h3]
  • Added 2 new pinnacle boss fights.
  • Introduced new weapons, trinkets, skills, and map decorations.
  • Reworked all voice acting, rewrote the story, and added seasonal challenges.

[h3]Rift Content Update: [/h3]
  • Introduced the Rift Endgame System with rift trail world events and ascended weapons featuring dual-embedded weapon skills.
  • Added map corruption mechanics, corrupted items, and global echo weapon crafting to dynamically alter loot pools for all players in the current season.

[h3]Specialisation Content Update: [/h3]
  • Added over 60 new skill nodes for character specialisation across all 8 classes, giving each class a unique identity and its own specialisation skill tree.
  • Added 10 new starting weapons, separated softcore and hardcore modes, redesigned the Tree of Light, and introduced a new character selection screen.

  • Introduced new mechanics to enhance rerolling and make taming the skilltree randomness more satisfying.
  • Enabled players to modify skill spawn chances in the Tree of Light.
  • Countless Improvements: Added quality-of-life features, bugfixes, and general enhancements to improve the overall experience.

The upcoming 1.0 release is a major milestone for Striving for Light. Over the past 1.5 years, we’ve worked tirelessly to expand and refine the game. The new pricing reflects the depth and value of the experience we’ve created.

Pre Release Race Event



PRE-RELEASE RACE EVENT

[h3]We are hosting a 48h Pre-Release Race Event which will take place at the 31.1. - 2.2.2025 starting and ending at 6pm CET.[/h3]

The very first softcore race.
Utilise the latest character specialisations and unlocking system for the first time in this race!

[h3]Participate with FREE Demo Version[/h3]
For this race you can fully participate with the free Striving for Light Demo. This is the perfect possibility to invite all your friends & content creators to join the event and experience Striving for Light.

[h3]Dynamic Price Pool[/h3]
This race has a dynamic price pool. The price pool will depend on the amount of participating players and increase by 1€ / each participating player that reaches at least 50 challenge points in the leaderboards and has registered for joining the event on the Igniting Spark Games Discord.

[h3]Price Pool[/h3]
  • 1. Place: 50% of price pool + Design Weapon/Skill/Trinket together with the devs which will be implemented into the game.
  • 2. Place: 30% of price pool
  • 3. Place: 20% of price pool
  • 4.- 6. Place: Striving for Light: Steam Key

Price pool will be rounded up to available steam gift cards, price pool can't exceed 200€

  • Join the Igniting Spark Games discord & introduce yourself in #rift-race
  • Please stick to fairplay, no cheating, no offensive player names, violation will result in disqualification of this and future events

  • Complete seasonal challenges to earn challenge points, the player with the most challenge points wins!

  • Corrupted Weapon Improvements: Corrupted weapons now have their own visual effect when having them equipped. So that everyone can acknowledge your high level of risk tolerance.

[h3]Improvements:[/h3]
  • World events that you can not escape now have a new border effect to make these events visually more distinct
  • The weapon preview in the softcore/hardcore character selection now properly displayes the weapon vfx for legendary, ascended and corrupted weapons.
  • Corrupted weapon tooltips now have the same colored borders as in the stats preview when picking up corrupted weapons.


[h3]Bugfixes:[/h3]
  • Fixed bear ornament trinket stating that shapeshifting into a bear will grant you a range attack.
  • Fixed unlocking darokin character after rescuing him in ankerath needing 30 light, instead of the displayed 10 light fragments.
  • Fixed not calculated damage for character specialisation skill tooltips

Update 0.9.8.7

[h3]New Features:[/h3]
  • Skill tooltips now display how much amount of effects they will have. For skills that spawn projectiles, this will display the amount of projectiles. On stacking this skill this number will also represent the total number of projectiles from that skill. This should make it much easier to understand how skill stacking actually works and how it interacts with the skill.


[h3]Bugfixes:[/h3]
  • Fixed wrong damage display in the tooltips for all skills that spawn projectiles. Skill stacks now properly reflect what they will change for that skill.
  • Fixed skilltree tutorial not being able to hide when certain tutorials have already been completed.
  • Fixed wrong state initialisation for skilltree tutorial hide button.

  • Added a new tutorial hint that reminds new players to spend your skill points if multiple of skill points have been accumulated

  • Redesigned Melee Scattering Hit projectiles and skill node design to align it with visual standard of other skills and effects
  • The toggle skills tutorial is now displayed when you first encounter the situation that you do not have enough resources for your attacks instead of directly when opening the skilltree for the first time
  • Improved layering of endbosses to not cover up player

  • Fixed a bug that could lead to a crash when triggering the delete save file window
  • Removing a save file with the delete button in the save file manager now also removes the hardcore save file of that league as expected
  • Fixed pathfinder crash on first time accessing pathfinder on a fresh run
  • Fixed light occluder for ancient tree endboss
