Chilly DevLogs from Alaska ! #45 - Hair - look stylish on Alaska !

Welcome to a forty-fifth DevLog for Alaska Gold Fever!

Hello travelers!

Greetings, stylish prospectors and virtual hairstylists!
Yes!
Today, we're unraveling the mysteries behind the mesmerizing hair in Alaska Gold Fever's 3D world!

Sculpting in Blender: The Artistry of Hair Creation:

Non-typical topic but a important one!! Every character need a hair (almost, sometimes a baldy one is enought). We also use these tools in our other games!

Our hair-raising adventure begins in Blender, where our 3D artists do their magic to sculpt the perfect "fur" for our characters.

Your Colorful Frontier

But here's the real treat for our prospectors – customization galore!
Unity empowers you to personalize your Alaskan adventure with a color palette of your choosing.
Easy to use, standard "color palette". I bet you have seen this somewhere else too :D

Hair in a static state? Not in our 3D game!
Unity allows us to introduce the captivating dance of wind through our characters' hair!
Just look how it looks ! Too pretty? Don't worry, a Character Artist will make it more "dirty" and realistic - just fit for a Alaskan gold rush ;)

Chilly DevLogs from Alaska ! #43 - Many faces of Alaska

Welcome to a forty-third DevLog for Alaska Gold Fever!

Hello travelers!

Time for another peek into the making of Alaska Gold Fever. Today, we're keeping it real simple – talking about graphs in Blender and how we're making faces in the game look as close to your buddy's next door. Ready for the ride?

Picture Blender 3D as our digital canvas, and the "graphs" as our creative GPS. These graphs are like a treasure map, guiding our team through the vast terrain of 3D design. With each click, drag, and curve, we're sculpting the Alaskan World!!!

Real Faces, No Hollywood Magic

Now, about those faces. Making a 3D face that doesn't look like it's from Mars is tougher than you'd think. But our computer wizards have been working their magic!

Whether they're smiling, frowning, or just thinking about gold, we're making it feel like you're right there with them.

Color me those eyes

Textures are come last. Sometimes it is hard to make something in 3D because you must use only grey or "greyish" color. Eyes are tricky, right? Well, we've got that covered too. Making eyes that twinkle and look alive took some doing, but i think we nailed it ;)

Obey and consume!

Face almost ready. I wonder which NPC will get it ;)

❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️

That's a wrap for today, amigos! Until next time, stay curious, stay amazed, and may your adventures in our 3D world be as fun as the behind-the-scenes stuff!

Chilly DevLogs from Alaska ! #42 - The Wall of Gold

Welcome to a forty-second DevLog for Alaska Gold Fever!

Hello travelers!

Welcome back! In this episode of Alaska Devlogs i will show you how a WALL OF GOLD (and rocks) was made in our gold mine!!

The Great Wall of Gold and Rocks

You've asked for it, and we've delivered – behold the Great Wall of Gold and Rocks! Our team of pixel pioneers has been hard at work, tirelessly sculpting a monumental barricade ! Dig in!

As always it started with a single block. MOst things in game world start as either "block" or "capsule".

Next, you either make more blocks or take a single block and cut through it to make more blocks (easy way).

Now it get interesting. With a use of single tool you can make "dissorition" in those cubic blocks. Now it will look more natural! Easy and useful tool not only for enviroment but also for making characters and other utilities!

See by yourself! Those CHUNKS looks delicious! :D

Rocking the Gold

Now, here's the funny twist in our tale.
During testing, our daring playtesters got a bit carried away with their pickaxes, attempting to mine their way through ALL our magnificent creation.
(It turns out that the allure of gold and shiny rocks was just too irresistible ; ) )
They ended up in VOID. But don't worry full release will not have those kind of traps in gold mines ;)

That's how it looks like. Almost finished. Every chunk is separable and some of them are a GOLD (you are here for it, right?)

The Pickaxe Predicament

So, dear prospectors, embrace the unexpected, swing that pickaxe with care, and remember: behind every great wall of gold and rocks, there's a tale as entertaining as the riches it guards.

❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️

That concludes this chapter of our devlog, intrepid prospectors!
Until our next rendezvous, keep the warmth of excitement alive, stay fueled by your adventurous spirit, and may your trusty pickaxe uncover nothing but the purest gold! :D

Chilly DevLogs from Alaska ! #41 - They are animals...!

Welcome to a forty-first DevLog for Alaska Gold Fever!

Hello travelers!

Welcome back to another thrilling edition of the Alaska Gold Fever devlog.
We've been hard at work refining the game, and boy, do we have some (gold) nuggets of progress to share. So grab your pickaxe and let's dive into the latest happenings in the frigid frontier of our 3D world!

Crafting the Canine Companion

Say hello to our furry friend, the canine companion! Designing a realistic dog in 3D wasn't a walk in the park, but we're thrilled with the result. Take a look how his fur was made!
From wagging tails to perky ears, our four-legged buddy is ready to accompany any prospector on they daily routines!
Yes this dog is actually a "NPC" dog, you can't have him :( You can buy only dogs specificaly for dog's sled.

Rodent Redux

It seems our initial attempts at modeling a cute squirell were a bit too enthusiastic.
At first glance, it bore a striking resemblance to a rat rather than the "fearsome" beast we envisioned.

Fear not, though – we've embraced the challenge and transformed it into a creature that's both formidable and fitting for the Alaskan wilderness. You'll have to see it to believe it! ;)

Doors and 3D Dilemmas

Most normal door on Alaska

Now, let's crack open the door to a slightly amusing chapter in our development journey – The Doors of Destiny, as we call them.
While diligently refining the game's mechanics, we stumbled upon a bug that transformed our ordinary doors into portals of unexpected hilarity! :D
I can assure - this bug is far more often in almost every 3D game that you think :D

❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️

That's a wrap for this devlog, prospectors! We're inching closer to a gold-rush gaming experience like never before. Until next time, stay warm, stay adventurous, and may your pickaxe strike only gold!
