Greetings Adventurers,


  • We discovered an issue in Dark Carnival that bosses weren’t being cleaned up correctly on defeat. They were attempting to load into subsequent battles resulting in an empty HUD on the combat timeline. When players clicked on that timeline the game would softlock.

Hotfix coming to address an issue that certain players were seeing where encountering a Mimic would cause a softlock when the mimic had first attack.

  • Players affected by this mimic issue will be able to continue into their affected game runs.

Patch #1.2.5

Greetings Adventurers,

The Ringmaster continues to stretch parties to their limits, while certain adventurers have been able to plunge deeper than before, it’s been great to see new and returning players jump into the Dark Carnival, or take on the other challenges Fahrul has to offer.

This patch contains updates to both Dark Carnival and the Overworld adventures - from softlocks to Lore Store unlocks, and a pretty nasty bug where people weren’t getting credit for completing the adventure. We also have a fix for a black screen issue that we’ve been able to reproduce. If anyone is still seeing black screens please reach out to us on Discord and we’ll work to resolve it.

[h3]Dungeons of Hinterberg Crossover Items[/h3]
To celebrate the launch of Dungeons of Hinterberg tomorrow, we’ve teamed up with Curve Games and Microbird to include some exclusive in-game items within this patch. Now you can travel through the perilous dungeons of Fahrul in pure Hinterberg-style. Check out Luisa’s backpack, outfit, and legendary sword in game when they launch alongside Dungeons of Hinterberg on July 18th!

[h3]Notable Fixes[/h3]
  • Adventure Fail Bug - We fixed the issue where players would complete an adventure and the game would show the Adventure Fail summary and players wouldn’t get credit for completing the chapter.
  • Custom Settings - Fixed the issue where custom settings were not being applied correctly.
  • Chapter 3 - The Royal Mines - We’ve increased the tick duration of the powder kegs on the overworld. They will now explode after 8 turns (2 rounds).

[h3]Lore Store [/h3]
  • Lore Store stats will now check on game start. This will retroactively unlock any Lore Store items that may not have been unlocked for certain players.
  • Fixed an issue where Ghoul Skin wasn’t unlocking correctly after defeating the Ringmaster.

[h3]Performance[/h3]
  • Fixed a black screen that some players were experiencing on load that was being caused by duplicate files.
  • Improved performance in the Corrupted Plains biome on lower spec machines.

[h3]Dark Carnival[/h3]
  • Fixed the issue where the Wheel would spin one spot backwards if any player was clicking the wheel repeatedly.
  • Fixed the softlock that could occur if a party member tried to summon four mercenaries consecutively.
  • Fixed the issue where Wheel Wedges would consume the whole stack if players attempted to replace with one wedge when they have many of a particular type.
  • Fixed Pipe effects not triggering during an encounter/trap phase.
  • Fixed the white flash that could occur when leaving the Haunted House to a new room type.
  • Evil Buskers will now give Entertain gold to the owner.
  • Fixed an issue where the DIE-NO-MITE ability of Shorty and Gabbo was causing incorrect damage. This ability will now hit a bit harder.
  • Improved the Dungeon Timeline readability when the Disciple is active.

[h3]Global Updates [/h3]
  • Players can now choose to Ambush a mimic after identifying it with an Identify Scroll. This will give them initiative in combat, choosing to pass is still an option.
  • Fixed an issue where casting summon could incorrectly summon Mercs.
  • Fixed the issue where refund focus wasn’t being correctly applied during combat encounters.
  • Fixed the issue where the Hanged Soul remained active after defeating the Hangman via the Overworld.
  • Fixed the softlock that could occur if the Devious Enchanter tried to reward a non-reward item.
  • Fixed an issue where the Foul Priestess lacked popcorn text on one of her Drain Focus abilities.

[h3]Art[/h3]
  • Fixed an animation issue where fallback animations wouldn’t play in the event they were needed.
  • Polished the Chaos bottle weapon trail in the juggle attack.
  • Fixed clipping with the Vest armor on Heroic body types.

[h3]Combat[/h3]
  • Fixed Godsbeard not triggering with an equipped pipe when used during Party Heal at a rest phase.
  • Fixed the HUDs disappearing early before a player/enemy kill is confirmed visually.

[h3]Controller[/h3]
  • Fixed an issue where controller players couldn’t complete the Wheel of Death if the Settings Menu was accessed during the reward screen.
  • Fixed an issue with the controller not being able to navigate Player Summary when opened for a single player.
  • Fixed the title not immediately highlighting an encounter’s options when the turn is passed to the next player when using a controller.

This update focuses on bug fixes including a handful of bothersome bugs regarding Mercenaries, Clown Gear, item cards staying on the screen, and other commonly raised issues.

  • Fixed the issue where the item card was remaining on the screen as players moved through different rooms.
  • Fixed the softlock when equipping the Clown Garb attire.
  • Fixed the softlock that could happen if a Juggling Clown was confused.
  • Fixed a softlock when using the Wishing Well in online games.
  • Fixed a softlock that could occur when using Identify Scrolls.

[h2]Online Games[/h2]
  • Fixed the issue where certain players were seeing “none” in Chat.
  • Fixed a softlock that could occur when switching characters in inventory during an encounter phase.

[h2]Mercenaries[/h2]
  • Fixed the issue where Mercenaries were being summoned in rest phase but not appearing in combat.
  • Fixed the softlock that was happening from buying out all Merc Deeds in the Merc Market.

[h2]Art[/h2]
  • Fixed the clipping on the Heroic body type with the Primordial Armor set.
  • Fixed the Spider Queen not playing her death animation.
  • Fixed the issue where jugglers would have their pin remain juggling after death.
  • Fixed a few weapons that were falling through the floor in the Tunnel of Love on death.

[h2]Controller[/h2]
  • Fixed an issue where the UI changes the selection to the default option for the Player utilizing a controller when another Player performs an action.

[h2]Other Changes[/h2]
  • We’ve removed the Cracked Flute from the item pool.
  • Additional fix for Arachnophobia settings.
