Dev Diary #12 | Computers, energy, and more...

[p][/p]
Howdy, Partners!
[p]Hope you’re all doing well, because we’ve got another round of updates fresh off the workbench. Old-school computers and the power that keeps things running - there’s plenty to share. Let’s not waste time and jump right in![/p][p][/p]
Telstar 3000
[p]First up, let’s take a closer look at the computer. It might look unassuming, but don’t let that fool you - this is one of the most advanced systems humming in the world of ExeKiller. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]It features realistic mouse input simulation, so you’ll actually feel like you’re working with real hardware. You can control all energy-based systems right from the interface, mount external drives, encrypt or decrypt files, and even download the entire computer state onto a portable storage device. Later, you can plug it into another terminal![/p][p][/p][p]Thanks to a modular design, it’s easy to keep adding new programs and functions. Whether you’re hacking into locked doors or powering up abandoned facilities, these terminals will be at the heart of it all.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]If you haven’t watched the clip yet, now’s the time. You’ll see exactly why this terminal is such an essential tool for anyone trying to survive - or get ahead.[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p]
Power Systems
[p]Of course, none of that matters without energy. The second video shows our power system. Circuits, switches, connections - it all has to be managed.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]You can power any energy-based device with universal batteries, connect anything to anything, and even set up logic rules with boolean operators to create interesting solutions to environmental puzzles. Doors, lights, computers, vehicles - it’s all fair game. [/p][p][/p][p]And if you’re in a tight spot, don’t forget you can use energy to your advantage in combat - blow up power sources to disable enemy defenses or hook up batteries to support your own gear.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]It might sound simple, but trust us - when everything goes dark in the middle of a job, you’ll wish you’d paid more attention to the wiring. And that’s where CyberVision comes in. This special mode lets you trace power lines through walls and floors, helping you spot hidden connections and solve environmental puzzles if you ever get trapped.[/p][p][/p][p]There’s definitely a lot you’ll be able to do here, but… We’ll save that for another time.[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p]
A little treat…
[p]We’ve also got something a bit lighter to share. Say hi to well-known Winston - and yes, he’s finally got his own set of GIFs ready to roam the internet![/p][p][/p][p]If you’re looking to add a bit of wasteland spirit to your chats or posts, grab these GIFs and let Winston do the talking. If you end up using them, tag us or drop a link - we’d love to see them in action.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Feel free to download and use it on your social media - JUST CLICK HERE! [/p][p][/p]
Thanks for Being Here
[p]Before we wrap up - big thanks to everyone for helping us hit 900 members on Discord (join here). That kind of support means everything, and it’s what keeps us going day after day.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]If you haven’t joined yet, come say hi - the door’s always open (unless you run into a locked one, but that’s what lockpicks are for - check it yourself ;)).[/p][p][/p][p]And don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, X, Instagram, and BlueSky to stay up to date. More updates, previews, and surprises are just around the corner.[/p][p][/p][p]Until next time,

Dev Diary #11 | Sneak peak inside the Tower

Howdy, Partners!

Today we're stepping inside the Tower - starting in the parking lot, moving into the neon glow of Cyberance, and checking out our lockpick. Oh, and don’t forget about the cold, calculating presence of Police Bots. Buckle up!
Lockpick
In the wasteland, nothing opens by asking nicely - especially not locked doors. That’s where your lockpick comes in. It’s a tool built for the job, complete with a flashy interface that tells you exactly what you're up against. The more lights you see, the tougher the lock - and the more pins you’ll need to hit just right.

The mechanism’s simple - align the tumblers, feel the feedback, and make it click. Use it right, and locked doors become new paths. Secret rooms. Shortcuts. Stashes no one’s touched in years. In a place like this, knowing how to crack a lock isn’t a bonus - it’s survival.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

But hey, if you’re not the patient type, there’s always the direct approach - smash the padlock and move on. Just be warned - it’s loud and might draw attention you really don’t want. Not exactly the go-to move for silent thieves trying to stay in the shadows…
A Parking Lot
Next, we go to the lower tower parking spot - a place that’s still in use, though it doesn’t exactly roll out the welcome mat.

Way down, under the ground, with big walls of steel and hard rock, low lights blink and big air fans hum. It's not loud, but it doesn't feel nice. There’s definitely a lot you’ll be able to do there, but… We’ll save that for another time!

Just don’t stick around too long. Someone - or something - might be watching.
Cyberance
Cyberance is the place in the upper Tower to be if you’ve got power, connections, or just enough credits to buy your way in. The neon glow makes it look inviting, but don’t be fooled.

Started by Mr. B, the big boss of many dark city moves, Cyberance is the place where folks go to hit it big or fall hard. Drinks keep coming, beats hit hard, and in the back, big deals go down that change the wasteland and the Tower itself.

If you ever find yourself inside, tread carefully…
Law Enforcement
In ExeKiller, the police don’t wear badges or play nice - they’re cold, unflinching Police Bots. No hesitation, no talking things out. Just orders, carried out without a second thought. Without any thought.

Wearing tough black fake leather, these cops aren’t just going for the scary look - they’ve got it down. The bright red mark on their back? If you see one coming your way, you’d better hope you’re not on their list.

Because once they lock onto a target, they never quit
In the end…
That’s it for today, but we’re just getting started. More updates, more gameplay, and more sneak peeks are on the way, so keep your eyes peeled, Partners!

Also - huge thanks to all of you for helping us cross 10,000 followers on X and hit 800 members on Discord! That kind of support means the world to us, and it keeps the fire burning as we push forward with ExeKiller.

If you’re not part of the ride yet - now’s the time to hop on. Follow us on Facebook, X, Instagram, BlueSky, and most importantly - join our Discord. The wasteland’s a tough place, but it’s a lot better when you’ve got allies. That’s how you survive!

Until next time,

Dev Diary #10 | King Hotel, Sparky, Animations, and more…

Howdy, Partners!

Hope you’re all doing well and are ready for another update from the world of ExeKiller. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes, and today we’ve got a few exciting things to share with you. Let’s dive right in!
Hotel
First up, we’ve got a glimpse of the King Hotel! Now, don’t expect fancy suites or lavish decor - this isn’t that kind of place. Well, at least not anymore…

Once a symbol of luxury in Brooklyn, where the elite sipped from crystal glasses beneath golden chandeliers, striking deals behind closed doors. And now? The wind howls through its hollow halls, and the only ones left are outlaws, fugitives, and those who live by their own rules (it was recently claimed by the Blind Justice gang)!

And hey, if you’re in the area, don’t ask about those available rooms...
Sparky
Next, let’s talk about Sparky - the all-purpose welder turned survival essential. Built by Techtronik, this compact yet powerful tool is a must-have for anyone navigating the wasteland.

Primarily used for repairing vehicles and welding or fixing damaged cables, Sparky keeps things running when everything else is falling apart. And if you’re feeling creative, well… Let’s just say some wastelanders have found a more artistic use for it, leaving their mark one glowing line at a time.

Just be careful where you point it… Accidents do happen.
Animations Update
Now, time for something a little more... Deadly! We’ve improved animations for NPCs, meaning you’ll get to see some dramatic (and sometimes comical) falls when things go south. It’s a small detail, but it adds an extra layer of realism to the game.

Don’t just take our word for it - check out this compilation of spectacular deaths. We hope you’ll enjoy the results!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Computers
Meet Veritas - a seemingly old terminal, but in reality, a vital tool of Helion. Created by Techtronik, a company specializing in advanced electronics, this high-tech computer is used for personality and usability tests - for example, determining whether someone is still fit to be an ExeKiller.

Its keys may be worn, and its screen may flicker, but its purpose remains unchanged. This is no mere relic of the past - it’s a mechanism of selection, the final judgment that can decide a person’s fate.
Community Milestones
Before we wrap up, we just want to thank our growing community. We’re so close to hitting 750 members on Discord and surpassed 9000 followers on X! Your support means everything to us, and we’re excited to have you along for the ride. If you haven’t joined us yet, don’t miss out – be part of the action and follow us on Facebook, X, and Instagram!
Wrapping Up
That’s all for today, but there’s plenty more coming your way soon. Thanks for sticking with us, and we can’t wait to show you what’s next. Stay tuned, follow us on Facebook, X, BlueSky, Instagram and join our Discord! We’re waiting for any new members, and we’ve got some fun surprises waiting for you!

Semi-open world FPS ExeKiller is a mix of cyberpunk and Wild West with a 1970s-style hovercar

Sometimes, a game needs an original premise before I'll write it up, and sometimes, it just needs a flying car, or a slick revolver with chambers outlined in mouthwatering red neon. Say hello to ExeKiller, which I am filing under "not new, but news to me". I know, "ExeKiller" sounds like a computer virus, though I think the people who make viruses tend to favour less obviously nefarious names, like "Microsoft Werd". Hang on, that's what I'm writing this article with! Quickly, before I lose this PC to ransomware: ExeKiller is actually a "semi-open" world cyber-Western FPS with retro futurist visuals. It casts you as a bounty hunter plying the dunes and gas stations of a post-apocalyptic Earth, and it looks like a mix of Cyberpunk 2077 and Drive. Here's some pre-alpha footage.
