From March 9-16, you'll find us featured in both the #TurnBasedThursdayFest 2026 (one of the biggest turn-based game festivals) and the Wholesome Underdogs Festival.

Hey everyone!

Great to be back with another update! Especially since the last one wasn't that long ago. Feels like things are really picking up steam! At the same time, more and more of you are playing Fortune Avenue, wishlists are growing along with the player count, so it's all good news. Especially since game sessions are getting longer and longer. Everything's heading in the right direction.

Want me to fill you in on what's new in v0.49.0?

[h3]Remote play together[/h3]
I promised you this sometime in 2026, and I kept my word. It's March 2026 and Fortune Avenue now supports Steam Remote Play. Now, there are a few conditions, I took the time to spell it all out in this post on the Steam forum:

Adding Steam Remote Play wasn't as straightforward as you might think. First off, Fortune Avenue had an issue with controller support. The game only recognized the first controller. The other controllers? They were simply ignored. This bug is now fixed, and it's way more enjoyable to play the game without having to pass the controller around.

[h3]Other changes[/h3]
The card that lets you skip paying rent has been reworked. From now on, you decide when to use it. This makes the game a bit more strategic and gives you more control, so I think it's a solid change.

There's been a small change to the interface. In v0.49.0, when you buy a property, whether it's a wonder or a city, your avatar and color will appear behind the space. This was a suggestion I got on the Steam forum for people who are colorblind. By adding the owners' avatars behind the spaces, everything becomes much easier to read!

And as a result, I had to rework all the game's scenery to make room for these UI elements. Because some of the scenery was overlapping with the board, I thought it looked cool doing that, but with these changes it was hurting gameplay, so something had to give.

Among the other changes, I also took the time to update the game engine to take advantage of the latest improvements, and Windows users will really notice the difference. For Linux users, well, you already had the best gaming experience, so now we can say Windows is catching up in a way.

I also made an improvement regarding performance when a rent was disabled in-game. Which can happen quite often in a match. Basically, disabling a rent had a small rendering bug that was slowing down the whole game. I fixed the bug and now it runs much smoother!

[h3]Final words[/h3]
The last update was already significant, this one is a bit less so, but it's still pretty substantial. In any case, the game is on track to leave Early Access this year if everything goes as planned.

And for the upcoming updates, I've got a few things lined up, including the ability to change your username in local matches, or even a seasonal event that would let players who went bankrupt get back in the game! But I'll tell you more about that in a future update!

To celebrate the event, I released a few days ago a massive v0.48.0 update that adds a new game board and several new themes, not to mention optimizations that make the gaming experience even more enjoyable!

If you're discovering Fortune Avenue with the Board Game Fest, here are the main points you should know about this little gem:

• Game Duration: Between 15 and 30 minutes on the small board, and between 45 minutes and 1 hour on the large board
  
• Democratic Voting: Regularly, you must vote for new rules that spice up the game. This includes hunting millionaires, melting the ice floe, gifting hotels, or even hyper-inflation. The rules ensure that no two games are ever the same.
  
• Progressive Inflation: With each lap around the board, your property rents increase!
  
• Elimination Bonus: Eliminating a player earns you a bonus!
  
• The Merciless Helicopter: The poorest players will be chased by a merciless helicopter
