The monks have been working hard on keeping Reus 2 fresh and fun! We’d like to highlight the updates released this year:

We’re very proud of all the quality and work we delivered, and the reviews seem to agree. We’re proud to be still rated overwhelmingly positive! Not only that: Reus 2 has now been played over a million hours! We sincerely hope those hours brought you fun, solace, relaxation or otherwise healthy things that help you improve the world in your own way.

Another thing that caught us by surprise was where you all hail from. Especially China (23% of the players) and Germany (7%) have been relatively well represented. It’s a privilege to be connected to so many people around the world! We know our German neighbours pretty well, but to see so many Chinese nature enthusiasts warms our hearts. It’s great to see people coming together over a good game with a nice theme. Thank you for your trust, and we hope to see you more in the future!
For those curious about the player counts, this is the top 10:
And just for fun, there is one country where we sold exactly 10 copies: the dreaded, the infamous, Faroe Islands. And that without any Puffins!
We’d also like to talk about our challenges here at Abbey Games. Maybe you can learn about it?
Team composition: This year one of our founding members and technical artist Maarten decided to go on his own journey. Reus would not have been possible without him, and we’ve been scrambling to fill the shoes he left us. We’re managing, but above all else we’re grateful for the years of creative collaboration!

Keeping Reus 2 Running: Modern games have high standards, which we’re happy we met! But it also has high support standards! We think we did a fine job with it, together with Firesquid. But it has been more work than in previous years. Finding time to create new stuff has been hard this year.
In the end, though, we can’t be less than very happy and grateful. It has been an amazing journey, which hasn’t ended yet! The Wetlands DLC will be released soon, and we hope to bring more life to your planet.
Have a great day, and enjoy the free update! (as well as this wonderful pixel art made by aswed18 on Discord!)

The monks have been working hard on keeping Reus 2 fresh and fun! We’d like to highlight the updates released this year:
- Spirited World: the first update added the Botanist and Diplomat to the game.
- Zhangjiajie Milestone: Added Simplified Chinese and some China based content.
- Great Barrier Reef: A big update for the Ocean; The Dolphin, Reef Shark, Christmas Tree Coral and Shipwreck were added!
- Central Park Update: This is where you get your Kentucky coffee trees and doves. It was a small surprise!
- Atlantic Forest: A big one! New giant abilities like Anomaly, a package of rainforest biotica, and the tropical paradise era.
- Amur Update: The City of Dreams and Small World is added next to some new Taiga content. The last big free content update.
- Cataclysm & Ice Age: The return of wars and relationships! Many people were waiting for it, many people were unsure about it. In the end, we only had 1 complaint. And that person didn’t discover they could just turn off the conflicts. The DLC was super fun to make, and exceeded our expectations!
- Micro Kingdom: Not full of content, but a big shift in gameplay! Better modes, and a whole new micro and emblem system.
- Uluru Update: Bringing more life from the outback to the desert. We hope you’ll enjoy the new content.
