Steam Cloud Support

Withering Rooms now supports Steam Cloud. As part of tis change, your saves will be automatically moved from:

to:

NG+ is now available

After completing the game, choose Load Game and select your save slot to continue into NG+.

Note that NG+ is brand new, and there may be bugs. Please press the / key to report bugs when you find them! Reach out to support if you need any help: https://witheringrooms.com/support.html

You keep all: levels, notes, remembrance slots, permanent items(except keys), remembered items

NG+ features:

- Monsters & bosses with increased stats(including speed)
- More heavily randomized monster spawn layouts that change each night
- 4 new enemies, a new boss, a new merchant, new tools, a new outfit, and a new prologue
- Ways to respec your character and level up with no level cap
- Surprises in areas that were previously safe or empty

Other Fixes & Changes

- Non poise breaking attacks no longer can stack up animations and effectively stunlock enemies
- Improved AI behavior when close to player
- Projectiles no longer collide with you in spirit form
- Night mother outfit has less Terror resistance
- Shields block less physical damage
- Homing projectiles find targets better
- Dafydd always wears yellow now
- Fix an issue with Josette in Ending B

Balance Chances
* Stock limits for magical crafting items have been raised to 8 in Chapter 1/2 and 12 in Chapter 3/4
* Cursedness related monster spawns have a much longer respawn timer
* Increased the amount rare items can be sold for
Polish
* Status effect announcements are much more obvious, with unique sounds for each status effect
* Map display improvements:
* Icons now appear under the text
* Better player indicator
* Fixed edge cases where it looked odd
* Added icon for secret passages
* Added options to make crouch and run toggle instead of hold in the Input Options
* Added a new Support menu to the options, and moved the Restart Night option there
* The game pauses when the Steam overlay is brought up(i.e. when in the background on Steam Deck)
* The Options Menu dropdowns work with controllers now
* Hiding/unhiding while crouching no longer makes Nightingale stand up briefly
* Left hand thurible now can be 'used' - blocks poison damage and speeds up poison healing when used
Bug Fixes
* More achievement fixes - if an achievement doesn't unlock for you that you have earned after Continuing and waiting a few seconds, please file a bug
* Fix for when the game crashes during writing saves.json - it can now detect and recover
* Fix Edgar's coin multiplier not applying correctly
* Fix for a monster offering a prompt during arena battle
* Fix for Nightingale moving forward when toggling outfits
* Fix for being able to dodge out of interacts, such as the valve puzzles
* Fix for being able to loot corpses through barriers in the Chapter 3 basement
* Fix for several movement/interact related softlocks when pressing buttons quickly
* Fix for several softlocks that could occur when dying repeatedly

###### Balance Chances

- Merchant stock limits are now affected by crafted items in your inventory - that is, if you have X door hexes, that counts against X red wax purchases - you can no longer run back and forth to the merchant to keep buying more after crafting
- Merchant stock limits for crafting items(except for empty jars, scrolls and books which have a much higher limit) have been raised from 4 to 6 in Chapter 1 & 2, and to 8 in Chapter 3 & 4
- Gifts upon death have been added to Chapter 3 & 4
- All gifts upon death now also include gold, which increases with each Chapter
- New items added
- Second Chance Ring - restores 50% health upon death but breaks, sold by Tomos
- Violent/Dextrous/Weird Pills - increase the associated damage output by 25% for 15 seconds, sold by Infirmary NPC
- The prices of rare items, bullets and syringes have increased
- Many Chapter 3 & 4 monsters and bosses have been made more challenging - through a mix of new/faster attacks, more health, more damage, and more resistance
- Arena monsters have been buffed, and their layout has changed in some cases to provide more challenge
- Item changes:
- Most amulets have been buffed
- Armor outfit has less physical resistance
- Burnt Ring has less fire protection
- Durability of Old Sword has been reduced
- Fireball & Summon Spears spears do more damage
- Lucky Necklace has a smaller Luck boost
- Critical/Savior Rings have reduced Luck scaling
- Bloody Elegant Outfit heals more slowly
- Night Mother's Doll does more curse build up when being held

###### Polish

- Rolls can be done immediately after holding the run button
- A small input window has been added to hiding, finding items and lore that will help prevent button mashing from unhiding/skipping
- Mirror has been removed from the Silent Study, instead the NPC will teleport you to a cottage
- Possessed Books no longer drain curse during dialog

###### Bug Fixes

- Fixes for achievements: Arena Novice, Hyperthymesia, Ancient Blood, Ascended - these should award on load if you've earned them, please press / to file a bug if they don't
- Fixes for several cases of enemies coming back to life, or returning to their idle, after defeat and returning to their room
- Fix for having Necrosis over 50 points causing many strange problems on load
- Fix for getting hit out of dodging while using the Ghostly Ring leaving the player in an invincible state
- Fix for the "Return to the Throne" quest not properly being marked as complete
- Fixes for several enemies having the wrong "aim spot" on their body for guns or leaving Corpse Hex residue in odd places
- Fix for empty searchable furniture in Chapter 3 basement
- Fix for the "Blood Stained Letter" quest in Chapter 3 not being completable
- Fix for the Nowhere remembrance shrine in Chapter 3 not unlocking
- Fix for magical barriers in Chapter 3 having "interact_" prompt
- Fix for some random Labyrinth rings generating with placeholder text
- Fix Old Sword having two sets of stats in its description
- Fix for Baleful Influence FX not going away

I thought I was hot shit for clearing Withering Rooms' first floor. The tutorial covers the basics of hiding under tables to avoid flesh monsters, but I was having more fun with the back and forth of its melee combat, doing an impressive turn as a bloodthirsty axe murder despite playing as a forsaken Victorian child...
