Steep Sale + NEW Gamemodes: Perma-death, 6 Mon Cap, Difficulty Slider

[p]Hey guys! This will be super short since I'm kind of sick and technically shouldn't even be working now D: (oh no!), but I have a pretty exciting update for you guys today! Lets get into it:

First of all, the game is on a super steep sale @ 75% off. Please help spread the word by telling your friends and family![/p][p][/p][p]We also added these new game modes, which you can select on new save creation:[/p]
  • [p]Monsters perma-death: Monsters die permanently when fainting in battle.[/p]
  • [p]6 Monsters cap: You can only have 6 monsters + 1 extra slot in your PC[/p]
  • [p]Difficulty slider: Now, when creating a save you can choose between easy, normal, hard[/p]
[p][/p][p]Quick explanation on each of these new updates:[/p]
  • [p]Perma-death: it's as it sounds. But if the last monster you own dies, your save is toast, and your house will forever be haunted by crows... make sure to stock up on lots of monsters![/p]
  • [p]6 Monsters cap: You can only have 6 monsters (technically 7). All monsters you retrieve WILL go into your PC, however, upon closing your PC, every monster in the X'd out slots will be deleted.[/p]
  • [p]Difficulty slider: All Dokimon saves are currently based on "Easy". Start a new save to give Normal or Hard a try! You'll find that normal has more baseline level curves and smarter enemy Ai, while Hard is similar, but slightly more grindy, difficult, and... fun![/p]
[p][/p][p]Along with these additions, we also added scale-able income (by badge count) to assist with the late game expensive items, as well as several other minor improvements that were asked for extensively from the community. Considering my current condition, the only of these I can remember now is that full odds "unique" palette monsters get a super special star, whereas morph toxic'd monsters get a separate star~[/p][p][/p][p]Unfortunately there was a solid few more things I wanted to add to this update which I wasn't able to fit in due to getting sick, which I will add in after I'm feeling better (hopefully before Christmas!)

That's all for this time around guys~ Let me know if you're happy with these new additions and if you have any more requests! p.s. did you know? This game released to Switch recently... whoohoo!!

Hey! Yano here. I'm a solo dev and do my best to fix any issues you guys run into and give this game lots of new life via free content updates, alongside other improvements and additions. If you enjoyed this game, please give it a review!

We're suuuuuper close to 250 reviews, and I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts! Cheers ♡

Bug Fixes and ImprovementsーSteamdeck Fixesー日本語スクリプトを最初から作り直して、HDフォントも追加しました。

[p]Hi~ Small update today that address some minor issues and requested improvements:[/p]
  • [p]日本語のスクリプトは最初から作り直しました。それに、HDフォントが使えるようになりました。[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue with switching monsters that occurred when using the new "battle speed toggle" setting[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue that (rarely) happened to some players, causing them to get stuck in Gad'riel's Peak[/p]
  • [p]Applied some potential fixes to Steamdeck Crashes when playing in Gaming Mode (no known issues when playing in Desktop Mode and Fullscreen option enabled)[/p]
  • [p]WIP Setting that enables an HD font for scenes and dialogue (hasn't been thoroughly tested, use at your own risk)[/p]
  • [p]Added a window resizer slider that lets you cycle through and confirm a new window size for the game[/p]
  • [p]Other light bug fixes not worth mentioning[/p]
[p][/p][p]If you're one of the few people that got stuck in Gad'riel's Peak, just load into your save, it will fix itself. You may need to defeat Faye again.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]That's all for this update^^ We are working on a bigger update that will be hitting main later this week, as well as working on, testing, and improving the new Japanese script, and HD Font system.[/p][p][/p][p]But for now, please enjoy these light fixes and improvements! If you find any issues with this build, or want to make some suggestions, let me know in this thread or on our Discord. Cheers!

1yr Anni. brings Switch Launch + New Content Coming Soon!

[p]Hey guys! We recently surpassed 1 year of Dokimon on Steam, whoohoo! With that, I'd like to talk about some announcements, as well as the future of Dokimon: Quest and the series as a whole.[/p][p][/p][p]To start this off, we are thrilled to announce that the game has released to Nintendo Switch![/p][p][/p][p]This is our first big RPG Made with MonTamer Maker to release to console, and so far the reception has been great! You can find a link to the game on Switch below, as well as a link to the engine that Dokimon: Quest was made in, which is soon releasing to Steam![/p][p][/p][p]
Doki Monsters: Quest ー Nintendo eShop Link: https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/doki-monsters-quest-switch/[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]MonTamer Maker ー Coming to Steam in 2025[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]With that said, we have some more announcements regarding Dokimon: Quest, including a 1 year anniversary update coming this December![/p][p][/p][p]
About the Content Update[/p][p]For this content update, we're going to be improving some story bits in the base game as you know it now, adding some new challenges to the final areas and the alt-region, lightly improving some systems, adding some new clothes and accessories, improving the script and localization system for Japanese, and also adding in some new NPCs.

We are also considering adding in an optional tutorial that explains some of the more hidden systems of the game (like AP / EPs, Movepools, etc), but this is still in the cards. Let me know what you think![/p][p]
[/p][p]Other planned updates
In other news, stuff that's not necessarily coming to or because of the content update, but still coming. We're going to be addressing a "Switch Monster" issue that came with the new "toggle battle speed" setting, adding some new settings including a window size slider along with other resolution related optimizations, attempting to address some issues that occur only when playing on Steamdeck in Gaming Mode (no known issues in Desktop Mode), and there's also the possibility of adding a difficulty slider for battles and level curve.[/p][p][/p][p]We're not quite sure about this one yet, but we are also considering adding "participation reward" for battlers that were in a battle, but just didn't land the final hit, as well as allowing monsters to evolve in-battle even if they are not actively in use.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Labor of Love
Hey, did you know? Dokimon: Quest is elligible for the labor of love reward in the Steam Rewards, we would be so happy if you could nominate us for this event if you enjoyed the game![/p][p]
(Here's the link to do that: https://store.steampowered.com/steamawards/nominations/2025)[/p][p][/p][p]

Accepting Feedback As Always!

You can also provide feedback in our Discord channel: https://discord.com/invite/4YUaYNvVHD[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]That concludes the 1 year anniversary update! Or wait... I almost forgot the most important announcement of them all![/p][p][/p][p]p.s. ー pls consider giving Dokimon: Quest a review![/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]

That's all folks, cheers!

Dokimon: Quest with its steepest sale yet ー Sub 48 hours to back Yami Kids

[p]Hi guys! Just wanted to touch in very quickly and note that Dokimon: Quest is currently 75% off, which is it's steepest sale yet!

Additionally, we have decreased the price recently (in several currencies), but the USD price has dropped from $19.99 to just $17.99.

This brings the current price down to just $4.49, which is a steal at less than $5. Tell your friends![/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]If you haven't seen it yet, we also updated the game a couple of times recently, adding and enhancing some features. Please check out the community hub to read more about that![/p][p][/p][p]What's next for Dokimon?[/p][p]At current, we are working on our next game, Yami Kids, which is built on the Dokimon engine. Additionally, we have already started playing around with some new art, characters, and mechanics for a Dokimon sequel, as well as some other really neat stuff that we can't share about yet. [/p][p][/p][p]I hope you look forward to future Dokimon news, and I want to thank everyone that's supported and played and loved my game I made! ♡[/p][p][/p][p]Yami Kids[/p][p]If you have any interest in it, Yami Kids is our next project, which is currently live on Kickstarter with less than 48 hours remaining to back it.[/p][p][/p][p]Did you know? Dokimon: Quest was a Kickstarter project too, that launched about 3 years ago! In fact, 7 out of the 9 playable characters were designed by gamers just like you^^ Additionally, around 10 monsters were also designed by players, can you guess which ones?~

If you're interested in checking out our next game, I'll leave a link below. But if not, that's ok too.

As always, we're open to your feedback, and if you run into any issues with Dokimon, please feel free to make a community hub post, or let us know in our SNS channels.

We're working on our new game, as well as slowly branching out ideas for new Dokimon games, so this may (or may not) be the last update for a little while. Until then, see you Discord, X, and so on!

Cheers,

Battle Speed Toggle + PC Info Bug Patch

[p]Hi guys. Small update today fixing a bug in the recently added "PC Info" feature, that lets you view monster info right from your PC. There was an issue when trying to search and empty spot that has been fixed.[/p][p][/p][p]Battle Speedup Toggle ON/OFF[/p][p]
We're also happy to announce that we've added a requested feature, battle speed toggle. When enabling this in options, it replaces the "hold to speed" feature when battling.
[/p][p]Instead, you only have to press the action key once, and the battle will be sped up until it's time to choose your next move. Of course, you can press it again to return to normal speed at any time.

To use this new feature, simply toggle it on (as seen in screenshot above) and try it out!

That's all for today guys :D I guess as a final note, I'd love to bring up my current working projects. Currently, I'm working on a game called "Yami Kids" with my friend Tosh, as well as a Steam version for "MonTamer Maker", aka MonMae!

Yami Kids
This is a game similar to Dokimon: Quest, on the same engine, but with a new spin :D I am directly involved with the entire development, so please check it out if you enjoyed Dokimon!

The game currently has an active Kickstarter campaign and just recently hit $10k!

[/p][p]MonTamer Maker
I'll also put a link to MonMae in case you're interested :D This is the engine that Dokimon was made in, and in the Steam version you will be able to make and upload games to play![/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]
Cheers!
