Reclaim the Sea Now Available in Chinese

Hello everyone,

We are excited to share that Reclaim the Sea now supports both Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, thanks to our regional publishing partner in China, indienova!

We're delighted that more players will now be able to enjoy the game in their preferred language.

This update is also available in the demo, so we warmly invite you to explore the game and share your thoughts. Your feedback on the demo and the Chinese translations will be invaluable in helping us refine the experience for all players.

Thank you for your support, and happy sailing!

The Species update

Among many small improvements, this update brings a global update to all the playable species of the game.
Species traits
Here is what the different species now do in the game:
- Humans now have a bonus in ship weapon proficiency, at the helm and a very slight bonus in saber proficiency.
- Orcs are now red/orange skinned, to be more consistent with their affinity with fire and to make them more recognizable from trolls. In addition to high fire resistance, they also put out fires more quickly.
- Trolls are now green, with slightly improved natural regeneration of their hit points. This is faster if they are idle.
- Eladrins have a very useful magic shield, but are rather fragile, slow and weaker in melee. They improve the charge speed of the arcane tower.
- Elves are formidable hand-to-hand combatants: not only do they inflict far more damage, but they also have the unique ability to dodge attacks. They also grant a speed bonus to birds when managing the perch.
- Dwarves repair everything much faster, and are experts at handling overdrive, engine and barricade repair.
- Hiring prices, health points and speed of all species have also been adjusted.
Other updates
🌟 New:
- The rework and balance of the playable species of the game is complete.
- Some enemies can now try out a new strategy and change it if things don't go their way.
- Two new music tracks have also been released in this update, ahead of the planned music update. 🎡

βš– Balance:
- Increase Eladrin shield generation time from 5s to 6s
- Reduce Greek fire ignite chance from 65% to 60% and increase reload time from 9s to 10s

πŸŽ† Graphic:
- new key art & Steam capsule.
- improved UI and game scaling to fit all the common screen resolutions and ratios.
- Added Proportional zoom option (experimental): for less common screen resolutions this can be used to make the ships fit better in the screen (at the cost of less sharp sprites).

πŸ’» UI / Quality of life:
- Changed shop tabs colour to make it more visible that you can also upgrade and sell equipment in some shops.
- show current ship weapons when on the β€œbuy weapon” tab of a shop
- show available room slots when on the β€œbuy room” tab of a shop

The update is now live in the demo!

The ships update is live

After months of work, I'm pleased to present the most important graphical update to Reclaim the Sea since the first demo. This update focuses primarily on the addition of new ships. The game now features several dozen visually different ships, to offer more visual variety in encounters and to reinforce the personality of the different factions present in the game.

Here are just a few of the ships you'll be able to play or encounter in Reclaim The Sea :

This update also brings a few other graphical enhancements, such as trail and splash effects, new graphics and animations for mechanical birds, new skin colors for some playable species, and small interface improvements.

A new ship is also unlockable and playable in the demo: The Gearwright. Thanks to its large platforms, this ship allows for the installation of numerous rooms, at the expense of pure firepower. Test it out and let me know what you think!

This update is an opportunity to update the game's roadmap from now until release:

In addition to the species overhaul, which is well underway, many other new features are in the pipeline, but I can't tell you more about them just yet!
