Reclaim the Sea Roadmap



Many of you have asked me what's next for Reclaim the Sea, so here's a first version of the game's roadmap to release. It will be updated regularly.

Of course, it's highly likely to change as development progresses. If certain features turn out to be disappointing, they will be removed, and other ideas will no doubt be added along the way.

What's more, many more minor features are also planned, but are not listed here. In particular, I already have a list of features aimed at improving quality of life, as this is something very important to the quality of the gaming experience.

Some content will make it into the demo, some won't (of course I'll have to reserve content for the full version of the game), but most features will find their way into the demo one way or another.

Update 0.8.5.1

Hello. A small update to keep improving quality of life of the game. This update is also an occasion to thanks again all of you who send me feedback. This is super helpful for me to keep improving the game!

- Automatically close any tip after 20s

Kraken & Crew Management Update

🌟 New:
- New ship: the Kraken now has its own unique graphics and layout.
- Crew management panel: this new window allows you to get more information about your crew and their skills. It also allows you to rename your crew members.⚔

- Reduce old cannon breach chance.
- lightnings now cause damage to the crew.

šŸŽ† Graphic:
- New lightning graphic effect during storms. It is prettier and it allows you to visualise where a lightning has hit.

Iconclad & Dwarf update

By popular demand, we've added a second ship to the game's demo. Introducing the Steam Storm! To unlock it, all you have to do is reach zone 3 in the demo.

What's more, as dwarves now have their own official tag on Steam, we've brought forward their integration into the game (which was planned anyway). And, of course, this update comes with its share of improvements and minor fixes. Enjoy the game!



🌟 New:
New ship: The Steam Storm. Equipped with a sealed overdrive and a wide front platform,The Steam Storm allows the installation of numerous rooms and upgrades. Unlockable in the demo!
New species: Dwarf. Although a little slow, the dwarves are good at repairs (to breaches or the barricade) and handling complex machinery such as the overdrive.
New long-range anti-personnel weapon
New type of enemy ship specialised in anti-personnel weapon

āš– Balance:
Sealed overdrive now retains 50% of the overdrive charge when travelling (and still prevents the overdrive from discharging when not manned).
Slightly reduce the time needed to extinguish a fire.

šŸž Bugfix:
Fixed the Lightning gun having no upgrade
Fixed a bug where the power of gold augment bonus was also applied to enemy weapons
Fixed the weapon boost overdrive module not affecting all the weapons

Update 0.8.0.7 : The French update

Hello pirates!

A new update is now available. It adds some fixes and improvements (see below), but the main feature is the ability to switch the game to French.

My goal is to translate Reclaim the Sea into as many languages as possible, and French served as a test for different translation solutions. Why French first? The first reason is that French is the second language after English in wishlists. The second is that, as I speak French myself, it allowed me to rigorously control the quality of the translation, which I wouldn't be able to do in other languages. I tested different automatic translation solutions: Google, DeepL, ChatGPT. Even though these solutions generally help understand the idea and save time on translation, the result is far from being of an acceptable quality level, and there are often misunderstandings or completely incomprehensible sentences. Translations in other languages will therefore be done by humans!
