Dev Blog丨Resonant Plan Launched, Visional Wheel S3 "Aberrant Progeny"

[p]Dear Metas,[/p][p]The echoes of the Lunar Revelry have faded, yet new dangers silently grow beneath the sky dome. The Visional Wheel is about to turn. Brave Metas, are you ready for the next challenge?[/p][p][/p][p]Visional Wheel S3: Aberrant Progeny[/p][p]The offspring of Mother Nova—the Rogue Progeny—hangs beneath the sky, transforming the tainted land into Deviant Zones. Using Deviant Sprouts within these zones as conduits, it lures humans willingly into her domain. Once the sprouts enter a host, their bodies undergo partial mutations, a state they call "Resonant Form."[/p][p]To delve deeper into this newborn nursery, humans embrace mutation to conquer fear. Gradually, they come to believe—deviation is not an end but a blurring of boundaries, the dawn of understanding.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Duration:[/p][p]Starts after the January 21(PT) update[/p][p]Ending time TBC[/p][p]Affected scenarios:[/p][p]Manibus (excluding novice), Evolution's Call, Prismverse's Clash, The Way of Winter, Endless Dream, Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve[/p][p]Post-update, servers tagged with the Visional label will automatically switch to S3 "Aberrant Progeny." The previous "Lunar Revelry" vision concludes, and special items will no longer be obtainable.[/p][p]New Feature: Deviant Collapse[/p][p]Zone Rules[/p][p]With the arrival of the Rogue Progeny, Pollution Zones of varying types and difficulties will emerge in scenario maps. During visions, these zones trigger the following gameplay mechanics.[/p][p]*Locations of visions can be identified via the "Aberrant Progeny" pins on the map.[/p][p][/p][p]*For detailed Pollution Zone rules, refer to the Dev Blog: [dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]Enemy Threats[/p][p]Symbiotic Behemoths: Special Alphas spawn hourly in different Deviant Zones, posing threats to Metas exploring these areas. Defeating them unlocks Deviant Chests.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Hunting Squads: When Metas carry an excessive number of Deviant Seeds within Pollution Zones, they will be persistently targeted by Hunting Squads. This pursuit will only end if the player leaves the zone or reduces the number of seeds carried. Defeating them yields Deviant Seeds and corresponding Deviant Sprouts.[/p][p]Both Symbiotic Behemoths and Hunting Squads will be affected by the rules of the Pollution Zone type and Traits.[/p][p][/p][p]Deviant Feast[/p][p]At the top of every hour, Deviant ore deposits will appear in high-level Deviant Pollution Zones, which Metas can approach to open and collect.[/p][p]During collection, Deviants from the polluted area will be attracted to interfere, and Metas must protect the ore deposit from being destroyed.[/p][p]After collecting for a period, the ore deposit will yield Deviant chests. The longer the collection time, the more and rarer the chests produced. Deviant seeds can be used to open these chests.[/p][p]Since the Deviant Feast appears in different Pollution Zones, it will be influenced by their respective rules. Metas should prepare accordingly.[/p][p][/p][p]NOTE:[/p][p]In the updated Pollution Zones, Territories will be corroded by the Rogue Progeny, requiring special resources to maintain and prevent corrosion.[/p][p]Pollution Zones in each server will be redrawn, which may alter the environment around your territory. To preserve the experience, Territories already in Pollution Zones when the vision launches will have a 7-day corrosion protection period (protection is lost if the territory is moved out and will not be restored upon re-entry). Corrosion protection ends at server time January 29, 23:59\[yT1] . Please plan your playtime accordingly.[/p][p]Enemies spawned during the visional event exhibit heightened aggression and will destroy blocking structures in their path. In the first week, the abilities of invading Deviants in the Realm will be suppressed, gradually returning to normal destructive power afterward.[/p][p]To balance the impact of Pollution Zones and Visions on PvP, the Prismverse's Clash scenario will not refresh Deviant Feast events (related rewards will be obtainable through Pollution Zone exploration, Boss kills, etc., ensuring Metas can still acquire visional rewards).[/p][p][/p][p]New Abilities and Special Items[/p][p]The Rogue Progeny seeks to sow "Echoes of Understanding" among humanity through "Seeds." She grants symbiosis, enabling humans to tread the Stardust-devoured wastelands with Deviant power. Yet this is no one-sided boon. Each resonance draws human form and thought closer to her—as Resonants gradually lose the definition of "self," they begin to hear the Mother's call in their dreams.[/p][p]Deviant Sprout[/p][p]Deviant Sprouts are a special type of ability origin seeds with various types. When used by Metas, they temporarily grant the abilities of Deviants and alter head appearance. There are a total of 12 Deviant Sprouts waiting to be collected by Metas.[/p][p][/p][p]Different types of Deviants in the open world have a chance to drop their corresponding Deviant Sprouts upon defeat.[/p][p]Encountering and defeating Half-Deviants (humanoid monsters also parasitized by Deviant Sprouts) guarantees the drop of the symbiotic Deviant Sprout.[/p][p]Resonant[/p][p]After using a Deviant Sprout, Metas temporarily enter a Resonant State, gaining the special abilities of various Deviants. Additionally, during this state, Metas acquire significantly enhanced pollution resistance.[/p][p]Each use of a Deviant Sprout consumes a certain amount of active durability. Once durability reaches zero, the Deviant Sprout vanishes.[/p][p]Half-Deviant[/p][p]Half-Deviants are creatures influenced by Aberrant Progeny. Their heads are symbiotically fused with Deviant Sprouts, granting them unique abilities and traits.[/p][p]Summoned by the Rogue Progeny, Half-Deviants primarily inhabit Deviant Zones, though they also invade the open world and certain settlements.[/p][p]Half-Deviants possess special deviant abilities, and defeating them guarantees the acquisition of their Deviant Sprouts.[/p][p][/p][p]Visional Wheel Event[/p][p]Event Duration: January 21(PT) – Until the end of the \[Aberrant Progeny] Visional event.[/p][p]Entry: Click the "Event Interface – Visional Wheel" page to join.[/p][p]Aberrant Progeny[/p][p]S3 Official Guide! Metas can access basic information about the Visional event through this page.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Deviant Analysis[/p][p]Amid the tide of universal distortion, \[Deviant Seeds] continue to spread. Recover and analyze them to unlock generous rewards, including new weapon skins, Collectibles, and more. Deviant Seeds can be obtained during the Visional event by defeating Deviants, Half-Deviants, participating in Deviant Feasts, or exploring Deviant Zones.[/p][p]Metas can use Deviant Seeds to redeem rewards from past Visional Wheels at the Shop.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Deviant Carnival[/p][p]Metas can unlock generous personal rewards by collecting the full series of Deviant Sprouts and challenging all Visional enemies. Each breakthrough you make will advance the server-wide event progress, unlocking different phase event tags that directly alter the gameplay rules of the open world.[/p][p][/p][p]Detailed Rules:[/p][p]1. Metas can obtain various rewards by completing Deviant Sprout collection or Deviant enemy elimination tasks, while also earning collection points.[/p][p]2. When the total collection points of a server reach different milestones, the server will trigger varying numbers of event tags. Different event tags will influence various Deviant gameplay modes, bringing unique effects.[/p][p]Gameplay Rewards & New Gear[/p][p]Deviant Seeds & Deviant Chests[/p][p]Deviant Seeds is a special refined token obtained by defeating Deviant enemies, Half-Deviants, or Symbiotic Behemoths in Pollution Zones. It can be used to open various Deviant Chests.[/p][p][/p][p]Explore Pollution Zones, eliminate Symbiotic Behemoths, or participate in the Deviant Feast event to use Deviant Seeds to open Deviant Chests. Opening these chests grants exclusive Aberrant Progeny Mods, brand-new weapons and armor, selectable fur materials, Morphed Deviations, and other generous rewards.[/p][p]Morphed Deviation[/p][p]Six new Morphed Deviations with Aberrant Progeny traits have been added: Rain Man, Snow Globe, Rebecca, Growshroom, Dr. Teddy, and Upper World Spawn.[/p][p]Note: Opening Deviant Chests in the "Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve" scenario does not yield Deviations but grants Mutagens corresponding to their Morphed traits.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]New weapons[/p][p]Alongside the launch of \[Vision: Aberrant Progeny], new weapons will be introduced. Details can be found in the Dev Blog: [/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]EBR-14 - Octopus! Grilled Rings!: Stacks Burn, dealing massive AoE damage.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]TEC9 - Additional Rules: Hits guaranteed to trigger Fortress Warfare.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]New Mods[/p][p]Three new exclusive Aberrant Progeny Mod suffixes added: Mirror/Wild/Phantasmal.[/p][p]Applicable for: Upper Body and Shoes[/p][p][/p][p]For specific effects, refer to: [dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]Deviation is not the end, but the beginning of understanding. As the line between sanity and madness blurs, may your crosshair remain steady and true. This concludes our Dev Blog. Thank you for your support. [/p][p][/p][p]Once Human Development Team[/p]

Sci-fi survival game Once Human's got a new set of dangerous creatures, and one will haunt my nightmares for weeks

I've encountered all manner of enemies in my time playing games, but some really stick with you for just how unsettling they are. Monster Hunter's Khezu, complete with its silent soundtrack. Bloodborne's lurching, squelching Brainsuckers. That horrifying baby from Resident Evil Village. Well, Once Human just made the list with the introduction of its biomechanical Devourer, although fortunately it's also accompanied by a couple of much more adorable (if still dangerous) foes.

Dev Blog丨Adventure Upgrade: New Enemies Arrive

[p]Dear Metas,[/p][p]Reliable sources indicate that new creatures may be lurking in Nalcott![/p][p]In this update, we will showcase never-before-seen new enemies. Each comes with unique appearances and distinct behavior patterns, aiming to offer Explorers a richer and more engaging adventure.[/p][p]Shh… let's sneak a closer look to uncover their true nature.[/p]
1. New Large Biomechanical: The Devourer
[p]"The internal rail transit vehicles on Nalcott Island range in height from 2.88 to 3.68 meters and in width from 2.6 to 2.9 meters. Any rail vehicle outside these dimensions is a potential hazardous entity."[/p][p]A new Biomechanical collapse is upon us. While exploring the Workshop area, Metas may encounter the large Biomechanical "Devourer," which attempts to disguise itself as a normally operating rail transit vehicle. Based on preliminary investigations, the following intel is now disclosed to Metas:[/p]
Appearance
[p]The "Devourer" is a large Biomechanical creature measuring approximately 27-45 meters in length. Its form resembles a mix of a worm and a subway train. Units composed of enlarged broken carriages are connected via gangways, forming multiple segments that allow the body cavity to bend and fold freely.[/p][p]The iron-clad carriages enveloping the "Devourer" grant it formidable defensive capabilities, while exposed areas remain highly vulnerable.[/p]
Behavior
[p]The "Devourer" is docile and slow to react, showing no interest in normal animals or humans with low Stardust levels. Apart from occasional "station entry" incidents and conflicts triggered when its feeding is disturbed, there are no records of the entity actively harming humans.[/p][p]The "Devourer" prefers Stardust-enriched metal ores and will actively devour them to replenish energy. Their sensory range is exceptionally vast, and neither soil, rock, nor metal can impede their movement, posing a significant threat to all operational Workshop facilities.[/p]
Combat Mechanics
[p][/p][p]Once its Shield is broken, the Devourer will attempt to Devour nearby ores to recover. It can consume ores produced by the Workshop or those discarded on the ground by Metas.[/p][p]When Metas actively discard minerals to feed the Devourer, note that the Devourer's level varies by region. Higher-level Devourers can consume higher-grade minerals.[/p][p]During the Devourer's feeding, each Meta can see a unique progress bar. Filling it applies a stacking Overload Weakness effect to the Devourer with the following rules:[/p]
 • [p]Overload Weakness effects from different Metas stack when fully filled.[/p]
 • [p]At the end of feeding, the Devourer enters an Overload Weakness state with a duration based on the number of Overload Weakness effects received.[/p]
 • [p]After three feedings, the Devourer becomes Satiated. If not defeated before satiation, it will burrow underground with all consumed minerals to digest them![/p]
 • [p]If Metas defeat the Devourer before it escapes, it will vomit out the consumed minerals after randomly upgrading them at varying ratios.[/p]
II. New Enemy: The Hoarder
[p]The Hoarder is an entity formed by the symbiotic fusion of mannequins and supermarket carts under Stardust influence.[/p][p][/p]
Appearance
[p]Its main body is a supine, multi-limbed mannequin with a shopping cart permanently embedded in its chest. A "smiling face" drawn on a paper bag hangs from the cart handle, resembling facial features.[/p]
Behavior
[p]It retains its hoarding obsession from its pre‑mutation state: one hand wields a scanner to periodically survey the environment, while the other collects discarded items into the cart. It also picks up items dropped by Metas. During this, its scanner emits blue light, showing no aggression.[/p][p]Observations indicate Hoarders operate in clusters of 3–5 per shared "nest", where they hoard collected items, including rare ones. If you are detected within the vicinity of a nest, their scanners turn yellow as a warning.[/p][p][/p]
Combat Mechanics
[p]When attacked or if nest resources are stolen, the Hoarder enters hostility: its scanner glows red, limbs elongate abnormally, and it attacks the intruder to reclaim items.[/p][p][/p]
III. New Enemy: The Sonivore
[p]As the contamination of Stardust on Nalcott continues to deepen, certain substances within the earth's crust are gradually assimilated. The Sonivore is one such entity. Its original form is a gel-like mixture of nanoscale magnetic particles and Black Water. After being assimilated by the "Stardust" state of Black Water, it gradually developed biological characteristics.[/p]
Appearance
[p]Initially, it appears on the surface in the form of an "egg," exhibiting small individual size and partial "egg-like" traits. Over time, as magnetic particles accumulate, its juvenile features fade, forming a mature form. The mature form features a core of deep-black magnetic fluid material, which uses varying flow patterns to express reactions to surrounding sounds.[/p][p][/p]
Behavior
[p]The Sonivore's magnetic fluid core is highly sensitive to sound, causing it to unconsciously move toward sound sources in an attempt to touch and devour objects.[/p][p]According to continuous observations by Rosetta observers, Sonivores exhibit a peculiar fondness for high-value items, often appearing near Rosetta's important supply storage boxes and "giving birth" to offspring there. Rosetta researchers are quite pleased with this strange sense of identification, though occasional friction arises.[/p][p][/p][p]Surveillance footage from certain research facilities shows that most Sonivores have grown numb to Rosetta's sounds, no longer reacting. However, they become highly active in the presence of Metas, responding to any sound with predatory behavior, even trapping them inside their bodies in an attempt to consume their energy.[/p][p][/p]
Combat Mechanics
[p]Sonivores react differently to various sounds. They move slowly in response to footsteps, quickly toward gunfire, and sprint at high speed upon hearing explosions.[/p][p]If a player deals damage to a Sonivore, it will relentlessly pursue the source of the damage. At this point, fleeing quickly is advised![/p][p]Once caught, victims will be trapped deep within the gel-like body and must struggle to break free, all while sustaining continuous damage from the Sonivore.[/p][p][/p][p]Of course, Metas can also exploit the Sonivore's sound-based mechanics, like crouching for silence, or using Melee Weapon attacks or other items to divert its attention and escape.[/p][p][/p][p]That concludes all the intel on the new enemies. What new challenges and storms these foes will bring is something the Metas must explore firsthand![/p][p][/p][p]Once Human Development Team[/p][p] [/p]
