Bryce Tiles 1.0.12 Patch

More level editor fixes, I really hope this fixes the offset items bug and some more of the crashes. Please keep testing and accept my apologies for all of these bugs, the level editor is still very beta and needs a lot of playing around with... so thanks everyone so far!

 • (level editor) "back to editor" option text position during test level hackily fixed
 • (level editor) fixed a problem with Immovable2 loading incorrectly
 • (level editor) added emergency hold quit key during test mode (in case you get stuck in an enemy loop)

 • (level editor) fixed big offset bug with testing/saving exporting levels
 • (level editor) added possible error if can't save btlev file (it might work)
 • added theme song vocalist full name (to dissuade any possible suggestions of garbage-trash A.I. generation)
 • "Theme Song Written/Produced by Elvisish" credit elaborated on to clarify no A.I. used in Bryce Tiles whatsoever

Level editor handbook: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_Kh8_DmHuTgYiDSfg3zCGHRu37DL5H7Q/

I managed to track down the singer of the theme tune and she was happy for me to share her info: her name is Marnée Richardson and you can find her (or hire her yourself!) from http://marneerichardson.com.

The song was written and recorded back in June 2021 (less than a month after production on the game started, crazily enough) but I didn't see any reason to even release the song until the Steam page was made in January 2023 (if I'd known what I know now, I'd have released it back in 2021, of course).

Since there was some suggestion that the song/singer was A.I, this confirms ABSOLUTELY NOT and no part of Bryce Tiles or its music or art or sound was A.I. generated in any way whatsoever, nor will any game by Brilliance or subsidiaries. The theme song was written and produced by Elvisish and all of the level music was composed by JJJJ, with some secret stage additional music (and altered themes) by Elvisish.

Bryce Tiles 1.0.11 Patch

Another fix for the level editor, this should stop it from weirding out and breaking tile/object positions (if window size is adjusted?), also another slightly improved attempt to trick YSort into not flickering (the idea came to me in a dream as I was waking so if it doesn't work, please don't blame me).

There will doubtlessly be more bugs with the level editor so please report anything you find via the form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd2XEtp4xkFLBgQ1aRlJWqQ70xI4TaJG08DqRLl752asEv17g/viewform
Hot Stuff 1.0.10 Changelog
• (level editor) fixed float imprecision bug causing loaded levels zoom to return wrong (and break load)
 • new attempt to move_child

I might be doing another patch tonight if any reports come through, thanks so much to everyone who's finding all these bugs and sending them along, I really appreciate the time you've taken to do it and I hope we can get them all fixed soon!

Bryce Tiles 1.0.10 Patch

The repairs of the level editor, it goes on, because I rushed it out with a bunch of stuff broken, oh well! Now you can make and test secret level themes (if you've unlocked them) cause before I completely forgot to finish that part of the exporter.

I'm having trouble reproducing a bug that's been reported a couple of times where the floor tiles are offset from the objects in test mode, if you have a .btlev file that does this, please upload it in the bug reports form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd2XEtp4xkFLBgQ1aRlJWqQ70xI4TaJG08DqRLl752asEv17g/viewform
1.0.10 Changelog
• attempt #5 to stop move_child from erroring (lazy hack to fix ysort flicker)
 • (level editor) oblivion prop correctly positioned in editor
 • (level editor) removed titles and endscreen from test mode
 • (level editor) oblivion and rover levels actually test and build now
 • (level editor) background no longer pops when changing theme

The Mac build has been confirmed to working well on Silicon and Intel chips and not flagging anything when run through Steam (or even directly from the .app as far as I can tell) but if you own a Mac and have any issues, please send me a report!

I'll continue to fix all the bugs and roughness until this game is flawless so don't hesitate to break and send me the remains, it's really helpful!

Bryce Tiles 1.0.9 Patch

Just pushing a patch to fix a bunch of bugs with the level editor, testing levels should work now, there shouldn't be any crashes when saving and you can use the escape menu during a test level. As always, please try and break this thing apart, the level editor is held together with bubblegum (always has been, always will) so any weirdness or issues you come across or user interfacing annoyances, don't forget to fill in the bug report, it's really appreciated! Here's the link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd2XEtp4xkFLBgQ1aRlJWqQ70xI4TaJG08DqRLl752asEv17g/viewform
Magical One Point Oh Nine Changelog
• fixed staircase bug during secret
 • new game plus now only triggers if musical chaos campaign
 • (level editor) fixed test mode actually working
 • (level editor) fixed crash when leaving test mode
 • (level editor) fixed escape menu not working in test levels
 • (level editor) cursor hides when hovering menu
 • (level editor) edge no longer scrolls if window unfocused

I want to add some info about using the level editor to the manual/hint guide (which I will get finished real soon, it's just taking forever to get around to) but for now, the quick-start guide to saving, exporting, running levels and workshop is here, as always: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_Kh8_DmHuTgYiDSfg3zCGHRu37DL5H7Q/

Also, I updated the Mac build yesterday with a fully working version that launches from Steam, at least on my Macbook Pro I bought exclusively to test Bryce Tiles out on. If you use a Mac (or have a Mac or a friend that uses a Mac) please let me know if you have any issues with Gatekeeper or Mac-only issues during play.

Thanks again for playing and helping me fix all the bugs, you people are so much better at trying to bust this game apart than I am so it's really appreciated!

Bryce Tiles 1.0.8 Patch

Another patch, phew, these are getting frequent! The doubler exit bug should be fixed finally, but if it's still possible to break, please file a report: https://forms.gle/9YmGkL8X7vV32CJPA

Blocked doors would spam an open sound on each move, that should be fixed now (leave a block or enemy on an open door and unpress the pushpad, if it keeps making a sound, I haven't fixed it)

I made a tiny fix to the level editor so the exporter (which broke right before release) now should work, but it's still very much in beta mode, so if you'd like to test the level editor, just add the line -leveleditor to the launch options in Steam (or add to a shortcut):

Here's the Level Editor Handbook I threw together in the early hours of the morning (around 4) so if it's a bit rough, my apologies: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_Kh8_DmHuTgYiDSfg3zCGHRu37DL5H7Q/view?usp=sharing

Please test the level editor/exporter out and test out the Workshop uploader! I'll enable Workshop visibility on the store page (so you can download other people's campaigns) once there's no confirmed breaking bugs or other embarrassing issues. For now, you can make levels, export campaigns, upload and download from your subscriptions and your own uploads and play campaign files directly from your disk. You can also send .btpak files to friends to play.
Changelog 1.0.8
• doubler game scale now works (only for positive scalings due to keeping both players on screen)
 • (quite possibly) fixed doubler exit button mash bug
 • (very probably) fixed blocked door sound spamming
 • fixed level editor export crash, test the beta mode with -leveleditor launch option

Once again, thank you so much for playing Bryce Tiles and hope you have fun discovering all the secrets that lurk beneath its surface!
