Hey there, awesome gang:
We hope spring is treating you well—with sunshine, good vibes, and maybe a picnic or two! Can you believe we’re almost halfway through the year? Time’s flying faster than Jack dashing through Neo Barcelona!
Development Progress

🧪 Welcome back to Parc Güell…
Get ready to explore one of the most striking areas in Altered Alma—Parc Güell. Inspired by Antoni Gaudí’s iconic real-world park, this biome offers a vibrant burst of lush greenery and surreal, organic architecture. Twisting pathways, hidden secrets, and dreamlike structures create a striking contrast to Neo Barcelona’s usual cyberpunk sprawl.
Parc Güell is home to the Shallari, a fiercely orthodox community who have rejected the neon-soaked ways of the outside world. Centered around their communal egg nest, the Shallari live with one single purpose: to protect the purity and survival of their kind—at any cost.

Brutal, dogmatic, and deadly, many Shallari can recite twenty-six different ways to kill a person, but might not know how to make a sandwich. They shun cybernetics, considering both augmentation and exile equally impure. Those who leave Parc Güell often embrace the very tech their kin despise, becoming a divisive presence among the Shallari diaspora.
🧑‍🚀 Waiting for you!
Red Rosie, the best armorer of Neo Barcelona gets bored a little easy, if she’s not fighting, you may find her making, tweaking or upgrading the weaponry system on the ship. Will you say hi to Rosie?
Here is a quick shot of our favorite Psycho armorer. ❤️

File #13 // April Update + GualdalIndie

Hey there, awesome gang:
We hope spring is treating you well—with sunshine, good vibes, and maybe a picnic or two! Can you believe we’re almost halfway through the year? Time’s flying faster than Jack dashing through Neo Barcelona!

We’ve been hard at work on Altered Alma, and we’re excited to share what’s new. So let’s dive right in!
Sun, Beach and Indies!!
We’re heading to Malaga!
Yup, it’s time to soak up the sun and indie game goodness at GuadalIndie 2025!

Thanks so much for all your love and support—it means the world to us seeing you at events, cheering us on, and being part of this journey. 💜

📍 We’ll be at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga
📅 May 16–17

If you’re near Málaga, come say hi! We’d love to meet you and show you the latest from Altered Alma.

Development Progress
🧪 New Dangers Below…
The deeper you dive into Neo Barcelona, the weirder—and more dangerous—it gets. You might want to watch your step…

Say hello (or maybe don’t) to the mutants of Clavageres, a twisted underground zone crawling with freakish enemies, lurking shadows, and... acidic surprises. 😱

This area is home to Harlequins, mutants, and all sorts of enemies that definitely aren't pet material. You’ll need to be fast, sharp, and always on your toes—because down here, Jack won’t get a single second to breathe.
🧑‍🚀 Meet the Crew!
It's not all doom and gloom, though—Jack’s never truly alone. In our next teaser, you’ll get a glimpse of a happy moment of the Esperanza crew: the whole crew together, chatting and… hmmm… it seems that they are scolding their dear captain.
💥Alert! Danger incoming - VFX Upgrade
Danger has a new face. When enemies gear up for a devastating heavy attack, Jack defense systems will now send a warning sign through the chaos. It’s your split-second chance to dodge, counter and show them who’s the boss.

But that’s not all — we’ve cranked up the action with fresh VFX that turn every battle into a spectacle. When Jack strikes, you’ll feel it: Enemies will explode in brutal blood splatters that paint the battlefield, each cut will now paint the wall with the true amount of damage you make with your blade.

Dev Update: April Progress
 • We improved the Spaceport area, updating the visuals and level design.
 • New enemies and environmental hazards have been implemented.
 • We’ve implemented new VFX for enemies, and reworked some old VFX too.
 • The team has also improved a little more in the dagger movement and game feel.

File #12 // March Update

Hey there, awesome gang:
Hope you're all kicking off the year in high spirits! The journey from the year's start till now has been a whirlwind for us. Thanks for all your support this kickstart of the year, we’re working hard on Altered Alma to improve and expand this amazing adventure in Neo Barcelona!
We have a few announcements to make, so let's get started!!
Back From GDC!!🎶
And not Empty Handed!
GDC 2025 was an unforgettable experience for us at 2Awesome Studio! We kicked things off with Day of the Devs, where we had the incredible opportunity to showcase Altered Alma alongside some of the most exciting indie games out there. Seeing players experience our game firsthand and getting direct feedback from the community was truly inspiring.

Our journey at GDC didn’t stop there. We took part in the Meet to Match pitching session, sharing our vision for Altered Alma and exploring exciting new opportunities. It was amazing to see so much interest in what we’re building!
We were also honored to be featured at the European Game Showcase, a fantastic event that allowed us to present Altered Alma to an international audience of publishers, investors, and industry professionals. Networking with other talented European developers and getting exposure on such a global stage was an invaluable experience.
And here’s the big news—we were not only nominated for a Best in Play Award, but we actually won one! Being recognized at GDC’s Best in Play was an absolute highlight for us, and it means so much to see the passion and hard work we’ve put into Altered Alma being celebrated.
More Home Events
We are also happy to announce that we will attend to another Spanish event/festival, this time in Toledo Matsuri 2025, located in the Recinto Polideportivo de Salto de Caballo, an event full of Video games, Board games, E-Sports, anime and many more.
You can find us at the Indie Zone along with other amazing Indie games and studios, we will wait for you there.

Development Progress

We’ve been hard at work refining Altered Alma, and we’re excited to share some big improvements! Our movement system has been upgraded, making parkour and combat feel smoother and more dynamic than ever. Now, you’ll have more flexibility to chain parkour moves seamlessly while fighting, even when facing multiple enemies at once.

But that’s not all—we’ve also expanded the combat system with better combos and new attacks, giving you even more ways to take down enemies in style. Whether you prefer quick, agile strikes or powerful, devastating hits, the new mechanics will let you fight on your terms.

And here’s another exciting update—our spaceship companion, Bailey, they are getting animated! 🎨⚙️ Our beloved engineer will soon be joining the Esperanza crew, bringing even more life and personality to your journey.
We can’t wait for you to meet them in action!
Hill of God
In the world of Altered Alma, the legendary Hill of God—inspired by the real Montjuic in Barcelona—stands tall as the headquarters of The Crusaders, the city's elite law enforcers and mercenaries.

Perched above Neo Barcelona, this towering stronghold is both a symbol of order and a fortress of power. The Crusaders rule from here, enforcing their own version of justice, whether the city agrees with it or not. Expect intimidating architecture, high-tech security, and an air of authority that makes it clear—this is not a place you enter lightly.

But in a city like Neo Barcelona, power is never absolute, and even the mightiest fortresses have their cracks. What secrets lie within the Hill of God? That’s for you to find out… if you dare.
Upgrades and Updates
In a city like Neo Barcelona, where the skyline glows with endless neon, our visual effects need to match the energy of the night. That’s why we’ve given a fresh update to most projectiles, making sure every shot, blast, and impact looks as stunning as the city itself. One of our favorites? “The Malware”— If you're gonna fight in the neon-lit streets, might as well do it in style, right?

If you thought you could just run and hide—think again.
The Chaser is here to make sure that once you're spotted, there's no easy escape. These relentless hunters will lock onto you the moment they detect your presence and won’t stop until they’ve either torn you apart or lost sight of you
Now, with a sleeker, sharper, and more agile design, they’re faster, deadlier, and more precise than ever. Every move is calculated, every attack is ruthless—leaving you even less room for mistakes. Are you ready to survive?
Dev Update: March Progress

 • Improved combat mechanics and new move-set
 • New bosses and enemies added to the game
 • Improved aerial movement for better parkour and combat
 • New VFX and reworked old VFX

File #11 // February Update + GDC

Hey there, awesome gang:

Hope you're all kicking off the year in high spirits! The journey from the year's start till now has been a whirlwind for us. Thanks for all your support this kickstart of the year, we’re working hard on Altered Alma to improve and expand this amazing adventure in Neo Barcelona!

We have a few announcements to make, so let's get started!!
🌉If you’re going to San Francisco!!🎶
Be sure to look for Altered Alma at GDC!
We’re super excited to be there! We’re also not showing up empty-handed – we’ve got a DEMO on site. That’s right!! From March 17th to the 21st, join us if you happen to be there as we hit the streets of Neo-Barcelona and let us know what you think… So come by and say hi!!

The event will take place in San Francisco, California, at the Moscone Convention Center (Catalan Pavilion, Booth: S969) we are excited to see you there and hear you about what you think about Altered Alma, we will be waiting for you.
We made lots of changes and improvements from the feedback we received from past events and Q&A Sessions. Your words are never lost in the wind, and we take them into account for future updates.

Speaking of improvements:
⚙️Development Progress

🗡️Jack’s Combat Evolution
Jack’s moveset just got even deadlier! We’ve added some new tricks to his arsenal, making fights feel more fluid, powerful, and satisfying.

Sometimes, a quick jab just won’t cut it. Jack can now charge up a massive strike to break through enemy defenses and deal some serious damage. The trade-off? Charging leaves you wide open, so make sure to time it right—one wrong move, and you might be the one getting wrecked instead!

Got enemies hiding below, thinking they’re safe? Think again. Jack can now rocket downward with a brutal Stomp attack, crushing anything (or anyone) unlucky enough to be underneath. Just be careful where you land—some floors might not hold up, and you could find yourself dropping into a whole new mess!
🌆 New Environmental Hazards & Enemies
Fire Traps: These bad boys light up the battlefield—literally.
Once triggered, they blast out waves of fire, turning entire areas into blazing hot zones. You’ve got two choices: run fast or roast.

If not friend, Why Friend-Shaped?” —Jack
Meet the Hellhound, a massive, bone-crushing beast that’s programmed to hunt you down relentlessly. It’s fast, aggressive, and very bitey.
📅 Dev Update: February Progress
• Parc Güell Area is now complete and ready to explore.
 • Art assets for Gothic and Born area are nearing completion.
 • HUD: is being completely reworked, now under testing.
 • We also improved Jack's character controller in order to have a more precise movement control over the character.
 • The AI for several enemies has been adjusted.
 • New enemies animations and executions have been added.
 • New NPC’s animations have been added.
 • Kickstarter roles have been given.

A huge shoutout to everyone who’s been active on our Discord, giving us your love, support and feedback. Your input has been invaluable, helping us fine-tune the game to make it even better. And that’s all for now, guys! Stay tuned for updates! And that’s all for now! For all questions you may have, we encourage you to join our next Q&A session on Discord — the date is still to be determined, but our public form is now open to everyone.

🌟 2024: A Year Full of Milestones

It’s been a whirlwind year for Altered Alma, and we’ve loved every second of sharing the journey with you. Let’s look back at some of the highlights:
🌍 Nordic Game
Taking Altered Alma to one of Europe’s biggest industry events was an incredible experience. Meeting fans, developers, and showcasing Neo Barcelona to a global audience was unforgettable.
One special highlight was meeting Amelia Jones (Singer of Hollow Knight, Slay the Princess, Alan Wake 2 and many more), who also played Altered Alma during the event, and now we have the honor to have her as a Guest Singer for our soundtrack.
Thank you, everybody who visited our booth at Malmö, Sweden.
🎮 Gamescom
In August, we travelled to Cologne, Germany to showcase Altered Alma on the Indie Arena Booth, and we unveiled Altered Alma with our Kickstarter announcement and Demo Trailer (That you can still play). It was thrilling to finally share the game with the world, and the response blew us away, thank you for sharing that excitement with us.
✈️ G-Fusion in China
Taking Altered Alma internationally and introducing it to players at G-Fusion was an amazing opportunity to connect with even more passionate fans of indie games. We didn’t expect such a great reaction, and we really appreciate it, as you have no idea.
🏙️ Indie Dev Day in Barcelona
Our hometown event was especially close to our hearts. Sharing the game with our local community in Neo Barcelona’s real-life counterpart was a surreal and emotional highlight. We took our signed banner home to remember all of you that came to visit and tried the demo live with us and share your thoughts.

These events reminded us how universal the love for storytelling and games truly is. Whether we met you at one of these events or online, every interaction has fueled our determination to make Altered Alma a masterpiece.

💥 Kickstarter Recap!

Our Altered Alma Kickstarter journey was nothing short of phenomenal. We started with a goal of €40,000, and thanks to you, we surpassed that number in 6 hours like it was nothing (even if the Kickstarted website gave up for a little while with all of you coming at the same time).
And then we reached over €260,000! On Kickstarter and Backetkit all together!! You will never stop to amaze us, you are awesome!
The overwhelming support allowed us to unlock exciting community and stretch goals—like having the amazing Amelia Jones to be part of our soundtrack with her talented performance, English voice acting, spaceship decoration, our beloved pet system on the Esperanza and many-many more…
Thank you for believing in our vision and helping us make it a reality. Every pledge has brought us one step closer to building the cyberpunk Metroidvania of our dreams!
