Cursed Relics FAQ

What are the Relics?

Relics are unique items that you can find only in specific places on the map. These are brand new locations. Relics provide special powers: some offensive (eg: leave a fire trail when you walk), some life saving (eg: recover hp when you deal critical damage). They have their own dedicated slots, so you won't have to sacrifice any of your weapon or item slots. Relics provide a new dimension to the game as you will be able to explore their synergies with your preferred builds.

How do I find them?

Relics can be found by breaking Relics Shrines, new elements such as statues šŸ—æ or obelisks placed in special new places of the map. They will appear in different positions every run.
You'll need a compass to help you find them... 🧭

Hey, but you said Cursed Relics? What's the catch?

Well, first of all Relics are usually well guarded, so you'll have to fight through some fiery monsters to get them.
And yes, they are Cursed at first: you will need to purge them before being able to use them. There are several possible trials to overcome to purge a Relic: for example you'll have to kill 100 enemies šŸ’€ or survive 30 seconds in the dark - without taking any damage. Because well, if you take any damage after picking up a Cursed Relic but before purging it: you'll die. Instantly. ā˜ ļø. They're cursed, remember? With great power comes great responsibility.

Can I choose the Relics to pick?

When you break a Relic Shrine, you'll be presented with a choice of two Relics: by checking the abilities they provide and their purge requirement you can decide which one to pick - or you can decide not to pick any of the proposed Relics and try to get to the next Relic Shrine. It's up to you, depending on your current build and the risks you are willing to take.

How many Relics will be available?

We will start with these 8 and add more in the future:
  • Doppelganger:release a hologram of your character. Enemies attack the hologram instead of you
  • Mystic Urn:if you carry this Relic, Mortician max health is reduced by 30%
  • Enchanted Hourglass:increase all power-ups duration by 5s
  • Vitality Shard:enemies defeated with a critical hit give you 0.5 HP
  • Steel Apple:max HP increased by 50%, but the effect of all healing items is cut in half
  • Heart of Gold:lose gold instead of HP when hit: 1 HP = 50 gold
  • Boots of Fire:generate a fire trail damaging enemies while you walk
  • Blast Charm:drop a bomb damaging enemies on a wide area

  • Fixed regression on Mortician death animation

  • Increased Hippogriff damage by 50%
  • Amoeba does not apply knockback anymore when killing enemies

  • Cerberus now proudly dies and litters the level with his rotting flesh - forever (well, for-the-rest-of-the-run ever)
  • Cerberus also summons a number of crazy skulls on death... But you have to kill him (them) first

  • New random fast-moving packs of Crazy Skulls
  • Fixed Mortician getting stuck in a Summon state waiting to for his inevitable death (unless he was far into the green fog, if so he would be fine)
