New Sintopia Demo is LIVE | TactiCon Highlights

[p]Administrators, [/p][p]A new Sintopia demo is live in association with Steam's TactiCon event — running through Monday next week![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The highlights below is a non-exhaustive list of new content you can experience in the demo. As always, feel free to share your feedback and impressions here in the Steam forums, or alternatively, you can join our Discord server. [/p][p][/p][p]Thank you for trying Sintopia! We are fast approaching our Early Access launch on September 4. [/p][p][/p][p] ❗Your save data resets with new demos - and will reset again when we launch into Early Access. [/p][p][/p]
Demo Highlights
[p][/p]
Translation
[p][/p][p]The game can now be played in French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Simplified Chinese. Please note that only game texts are translated (not voices), and that translation is still a work in progress to this day. An overhaul pass will be made on translated texts before Early Access launch. [/p][p][/p]
Cultists
[p][/p][p]Humus witnessing Spells in the Overworld will have their Influence level increased. When Influence is high, they will periodically deposit Faithcoins Offerings near the Temple, and eventually become Cultists who can perform specific activities at night while the town sleeps. You will also find new objectives tied to Cultists, new passive effects in the Liber Administratum, and a new Hell Building to unlock which plays on Influence: the HIA Bureau. [/p][p][/p][carousel][/carousel]
Rest Room
[p][/p][p]To players who tried a previous demo, you’ll notice that the Break Room has disappeared, and has been replaced by a rundown Rest Room instead. An overhauled Break Room will come back later in production, as a higher quality building (more Imps slots, stronger break reduction, etc.). In the meantime, enjoy following Imps even when they’re on the toilet![/p][p][/p]
Twitch integration
[p][/p][p]You can now connect your game to Twitch in the settings. When streaming the game while connected, viewers in the chat will be able to type !join to have their names used as in-game names for Humus and Imployees. This is a first step towards plugging cool features into Twitch, we hope to add more in the future! [/p][p][/p]
Gameplay
[p][/p]
 • [p]A lot of gameplay changes / QoL have been added since the last demo. Some of these directly answer players feedback gathered from previous demos, and we are glad we could integrate them before Early Access launch! We won’t go into too much detail, you will find a lot more while playing, but here are some key changes: [/p]
 • [p]The Omnisin Doctor can’t treat Deviant Souls anymore, only specialist punishment buildings can. The second tutorial map introduces this change to players. With specialists being cheaper to unlock, we think this will help diversify gameplay and make these buildings truly useful. [/p]
 • [p]The Humus innate Sin vulnerability has been removed, and replaced with a global vulnerability given by the Ruler instead (depending on their personality). This creates waves of deviants of a single Sin, depending on the Ruler, so players can plan the use of specialists ahead of time (instead of the sheer randomness we had before). [/p]
 • [p]Poking Imps (shaking your mouse cursor on them) doesn’t increase Motivation anymore, but reduces their Break Time instead. This only has an effect when they are on break. This provides a fun tool to players who don’t like their Imps going on break at the worst time, while giving an opportunity window to the “Masochist” Imp trait. The second tutorial map now has a section about poking Imps.[/p]
 • [p]Guacamps are now shielded by antimagic fields, which prevent players from casting Spells inside. The fields are generated by totems present in the camps, which must be destroyed from afar (ex: casting Magmine outside the field) or by the Humus military. Destroying them is now an actual challenge! [/p]
 • [p]You can now hold left click on a Hell building to move it without using the move-tool. [/p]
 • [p]The Reaper Bus now onboards Souls in the Cemetery favouring the highest Soul Rot values first (instead of randomly). [/p]
 • [p]In Challenge Mode, Role Model boon slots must now be unlocked by spending Prestige Points (only one is unlocked by default). You can also use Prestige Points to reroll the available Mandates. [/p]
 • [p]Some sections of the Tutorials have been upgraded to be clearer, and to reduce the chances of players getting lost. [/p]
 • [p]The Secret Pond map has been remade with a new biome, for more visual variety. Guacas and Wargs now drown if staying in water for too long, just like Humus! Zhumbies and Sin Spawns are still purposely immune to drowning. [/p]
 • [p]Changed how Hell buildings call Souls forward: in case of clutter in front of the building, they will elect a Soul randomly within the first connected cell, instead of the entire road connected to it. This helps reduce cluttered roads where no Soul wanted to go first. [/p]
 • [p]Saints don’t give Faithcoins in Hellpet Shows anymore. They don’t give Purgadollars when getting out of the Reaper Bus either. They are completely useless in Hell now, as they are supposed to be! [/p][p][/p]
Your new mandate as Hell's administrator awaits!
[p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p][/p]

A new, updated demo with our latest build is live, as part of Steam Next Fest, composing a host of changes!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2213700/Sintopia/
Demo Changelog - Not Exhaustive
• New Spell: Magmine. A throwable fireball that explodes on contact and spreads fire on the ground. If it does not hit a structure or a character, it becomes a landmine instead.
 • Key bindings: keyboard shortcuts are now listed in the game settings and can be rebound.
 • Fear and Motivation props rework: the props don’t cumulate anymore, requiring higher tier-props usage to reach maximum effect. Fear / Motivation technologies in the Liber Administratum have been merged so it’s less expensive to acquire them all.
 • A lot of new map objectives, both main and secondary. Also new map modifiers.
 • New UI panel: information panel in the orbital view, which contains various stats (playtime, average sin, etc.) as well as a summary of Boons / Modifiers selected in Challenge Mode.

Some Quality of Life changes, including:

 • Magic Resistance visual feedback.
 • Dedicated alerts for Raids (Guacas, Demon spawns).
 • All Specialist Punishment buildings are now tier 1 unlocks in the Liber Administratum (5 Hearos).
 • Force Push is now more powerful the longer the drawn line is.
 • Added a “any deviant” status rule in the Dispatcher.
 • Saints apparition is now occurring on resurrection, instead of randomly.
 • Permanent highlight on interactive objects (Bells, Logs, Boats, etc.).
 • Bulldozer Tools now appear on hover instead of right click.
 • Warning icon when a Waiting Line is not connected to a road.
 • Humus won’t be afraid of dead hostiles anymore.
 • Added a bias in the selection of the first Ruler to make sure they have enough HP.
 • Added settings (camera shake, screen-edge panning, gameplay popups).
 • A broad balancing pass, including making enemy number scale with difficulty, Demons spawning raids as soon as they land in their crater, etc.

Guacas | An Ongoing Threat to Challenge You

Administrators!

It’s time to dive into another threat that will make your job more difficult: the Guacas. 🥑
Whacas?
Let’s say Guacas come from an old recipe before Humus were a thing. These cute avocado-shaped barbarians are inhabitants of the Overworld, living in camps across the map. They form bands of small but numerous Raiders, assisted by powerful Shamans and commanded by Warlords. Guacas are the Humus' natural enemies and will fight them to the death when crossing their path.

When starting a game on a fresh map, Guacamps will be scattered around the Overworld. Although they stay idle for a little while, intermediate camps will start launching scouting parties to claim Resource Nodes, occupying them until dislodged by Humus warbands (or Demons). The bigger camps - fortresses really - will frequently launch deadly raids on the Humus Temple. Keep in mind that the Temple is your anchor in the Overworld and that you lose the game if it gets destroyed. Thus, Guacas represent an ongoing threat for you, too.
How to crush avocado
Humus soldiers can handle the lower-rank Raiders themselves. Shaman will oppose a challenge if you want to take care of them with Spells, so make sure to have allies assisting you in the task. They can rain fire down on your troops, and provide a passive resistance to Spells to all Guacas around. If you’re low on Faithcoins, the best strategy would be to interrupt their fire spell right before they can complete their ritual.

Like Wargs Lairs, destroying Guacamps will grant you rewards chests. As an added benefit, it will also prevent the camps from creating more Guacas and sending them patrolling. If you manage to destroy their biggest camp, raids will stop. However, you should know that this is no simple feat, as their structures can be particularly sturdy.

But fret not! We have a new tool for you to try during the next demo. A new Spell which fills all your needs for destruction: Magmine - A throwable fireball that can also be planted as a landmine. Also magma. 💥🔥
What’s next?
Raiders and Shamans are already harassing Humus as we speak, but their Warlord is yet to come. This colossal champion will be revealed in the future, as soon as we deem it nasty enough.
Also, Shamans will have more functions to help their party in the future, such as dousing fires in Guacamps and repairing damaged structures.

Finally, for the Administrators who thought they could raze Guacamps without trouble, we’ll be adding “anti-magic” aura generators in higher-rank camps, preventing you from casting Spells nearby. You’ll have to snipe the generators from afar first before wreaking havoc in the camps directly. This should bring a new dimension to the puzzle of silencing Guacas once and for all.
New Demo Coming Soon
We hope to see many Administrators stand their ground against the fierce avocados during our next demo, with a fiery Magmine in hand. See you there! Stay tuned for more info 😈
