The Karters 2 Playtest is Live! 🏁 Online & Modding Supported

🎉 The Karters 2 Playtest is Live! 🏁


The public playtest is now officially live! Whether you’re here to race solo, go head-to-head online, use mods or dive into modding, this playtest is packed with features to explore :)

[h2]🛠️ Important Note About Mods[/h2]
Just a quick heads-up for those of you planning to use mods during the playtest:
The Steam Workshop for the playtest is completely separate from the main game’s Workshop. This setup is required by Steam and unfortunately can’t work any other way.
That means:
  • Only mods re-published specifically for the playtest will be available here
  • Mods from the full game’s Workshop won’t show up unless creators port them over
  • We’re sure many modders will bring their work into this playtest!

Most active modders will continue to have access to the beta build, and you’re free to create and upload new mods during the test phase.

I am excited to announce that the Public Online Playtest for The Karters 2: Turbo Charged launches tomorrow June 5th, 6PM CEST— and yes, modding is included!

Thanks to your community feedback, I've decided to include full modding support in the playtest!

• Custom characters and vehicles
• Custom tracks (with Time Trial leaderboards)
• Private lobbies with modded races
• You can create and publish your own mods!

The Steam Workshop is fully functional in the playtest build, but

⚠️ Important Information About Mods.
Please note that the Steam Workshop for the playtest operates separately from the main game's Steam Workshop. This is a Steam requirement that cannot be changed.

What this means:
* Only mods that creators specifically re-publish for the playtest version will be available
* You won't see every mod from the full game during the playtest
* You can create and publish your own mods during the playtest phase
* Most active modders will continue to have access to the beta build

Release Date Postponed | Public Playtest Registration Open

First of all, thank you so much for being here — I can truly feel the excitement building around the game’s release and it means a lot! 💙

[h3]📢 I’ve got two updates to share — one good, and one not-so-good.[/h3]

The tough news first: despite all the sleepless nights, countless hours, and the fact that all tracks, arenas, and game modes are in place — I can’t release the game just yet.

My original plan was to test the game with a small closed community group before launch. Unfortunately, I ended up building things right up to the last minute, and that testing phase didn’t happen.

Even though the full scope of the game is almost complete, There still might be bugs, performance issues, and other problems — simply because I didn’t have time to properly test everything, optimize everything and test everything in online (with so many game modes it is just too risky).

This game promises to be the best kart racer on the market — and while this delay is disappointing, I’d rather push the release than risk breaking your trust. The game is massive, and without solid testing, your experience just wouldn’t be where it should be.

😞 I’m just as disappointed as you are. But the game’s future , and community around the game - matters more than pushing it out too soon and risking killing the game after all these years.

[h2]📆 So, When’s the New Date?[/h2]
To make sure we do this properly, the new release date is[h3] July 17th. [/h3]

But Here’s the Good News - you’ll still get to play part of the game and with a brand new game mode and new track,
I know many of you were ready to play — so today/tomorrow, I will launch a public playtest!
Look for the next announcement later this day

This playtest will run all week, including the weekend — and there might even be a second one 👀

Even though the full launch is delayed, you’ll still get hands-on time with the game for free— and that might even be better for some of you.

Early Access Release Date & Pricing Revealed!

After years of work, I’m super excited to finally share the big news:
The Karters 2: Turbo Charged is coming to Early Access on June 2nd, 2025!

Yep, just a few weeks away—and yep, it’s the same week Mario Kart World drops.
That means it’s going to be an epic week for all kart racing fans.

And honestly? I believe our indie kart racer has the power to surprise a lot of people!
It’s time for the karting genre to shine 🏁

[h2]What can you expect at launch?[/h2]
  • 🏎️ 16 unique race tracks
  • 🔥 6–8 battle arenas
  • 🎮 8–12 game modes – some for racing, some for battling, and some totally new like Quick Cut with semi-randomized tracks
  • 🌐 Online multiplayer with dedicated servers, clans, and ranked matches
  • 🛠️ Modding support with – over 1,000 mods already supported!

[h2]So why Early Access?[/h2]
Originally, the plan was to do a full release.
Now, as you may have noticed, I’ve decided to launch the game in Early Access.
But don’t worry - all the game content will be there from day one - tracks, modes, multiplayer, modding.

Early Access just gives me space to add at least these two INSANE features:
  • A full Story Mode Campaign
  • An in-game track editor, so you can build and share tracks right inside the game. Modnation Racers style
Of course you can expect improvements, more content and more game modes through this EA phase as well!

[h2]Pricing[/h2]
The Karters 2 will be priced at $29.99 during Early Access with regional pricing support and launch discount.

I hope to include 4-pack bundle where you can get 4 copies in a price of 3 but Steam need to approve that first - so stay tuned for more updates about that.

[h2]The Goal - Full Release[/h2]
The goal is to launch the full version by the end of 2025, simultaneously with Consoles, with modding, in-game track editor, story mode and online cross-play support on Consoles from day one.
