Patch 1.0.3.7805 is live now!

Greetings fellow Nubs,
[p][/p][p]A new update has been launched by order of the great Konzumos![/p][p][/p][p]In this update we have performed some significant updates to the local play and controller input handling.
Players will now have full control over what controller is assigned to what user/player, have different bindings saved for different controller hardware types, and can set up local play with keyboard and mouse + controller hybrid play.[/p][p][/p][p]A full overview of the changes can be found below:
[/p]
LOCAL PLAY
• [p]Local player UI will now show all the correct information for the correct local players in their designated UI locations.[/p]
  • [p]Local player naming, numbering and sorting will no longer get (potentially) scrambled when playing with more than 2 players.[/p]
  • [p]Passive selection will now show the player name for all players.[/p]
  • [p]Changed the local player names to Player 1,2,3,4 instead of the primary player username. This fixes some clarity issues when dealing with long user names.[/p]
  • [p]When a local player is removed from the game during the player selection screen, the remaining local player names and indices will be shifted so that there are no gaps in the player name numberings. When a slot gap is refilled by a player, the naming and numbering will shift again accordingly. This improves clarity and consistency based on the number of active players during the local match.[/p]
  • [p]When playing in local play, each player will now have input icons that match their controller hardware type. General UI such as menus will follow the input device of the primary player/user.[/p]
[p][/p]
INPUT
• [p]Controller rebinding will now be aborted when a controller is connected and/or disconnected during the binding process.[/p]
  • [p]Drastically improved the controller handling and customization within the game.[/p]
    • [p]You can now select and adjust the individual attached controllers in the controller settings menu. The selected controller will provide a slight rumble to confirm the current selection if the controller is recognized and supported. Each recognized controller type can be modified and have it's bindings adjusted. Saved changes are shared per controller hardware type for all players/users.[/p]
    • [p]The controller binding menu will now show what controller you are changing as well as the user and/or player that the target controller is assigned to.[/p]
    • [p]Controller assignment can now be adjusted from the settings menu (both in the main, pause menu and player join screen) on the fly. A quick access option has also been made available in the player join screen. This gives the user full control over what controller device is assigned to which user and/or player.[/p]
    • [p]For people with disabilities, this also allows you to assign multiple controllers to the same player if needed.[/p]
    • [p]For people who would like to play with player 1 on a keyboard and player 2 on a single controller, this can now also be easily configured.[/p]
    • [p]Supports manual configuration, auto configuration and input polling controller assignment.[/p]
    • [p]Resetting of the bindings can now be done per controller hardware type instead of auto resetting this for all hardware types.[/p]
    • [p]Unrecognized and native unsupported controllers will now be highlighted so that you can know if your connected controller will function or not without having Steam Input enabled.[/p]
  • [p]The input binding save data structure has been adjusted to improve the save data formatting. Existing bindings will be auto upgraded and converted.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where controller binding adjustments would clear the bindings for the other attached controllers of the same hardware type until the game was restarted.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue when players want to play the game locally with a mix of controllers and keyboard that causes the UI to constantly alter between keyboard and mouse icons and controller icons.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where players would aim towards the mouse target when playing with a hybrid of keyboard and mouse and controller in local play.[/p]
[p][/p]
UI
• [p]Fixed an issue where certain popups could remain active in the input binding menu when you would start a match while matchmaking during input rebinding.[/p]

Patch 1.0.2.7712 is live now!

Hello,

Nubs! dev team here. We've got another patch for you! This one focuses on resolving additional connectivity issues and introducing quality settings to improve performance, particularly for players on low-end devices.
We've also gathered feedback and made several small adjustments to improve overall gameplay.
GENERAL
- Fixed a rare game client crash.
- Fixed a jitter issue that occurred under specific conditions.
- Fixed an issue where player names would not appear if the network connection had high packet loss.
- Fixed a memory leak in the character renderer.
- Improved lag compensation for unstable connections.
- Improved performance in the Score Screen (the little room where players wait for the next round to start).
- Added an alternative method for determining ping to help with optimal server selection for players who are unable to perform standard ping requests.
QUALITY SETTINGS
- Added Dynamic Resolution setting:
Disabled: Don't use the dynamic resolution and render at your configured resolution.
Auto: Automatically scale the resolution between the configured resolution and the provided resolution scale to try and reach the target FPS. (Respects the target FPS setting if enabled, otherwise defaults to 60 fps as the target).
Fixed: Full control over the resolution scaling which will be fixed to the provided resolution scale.
- Added Character Rendering Resolution: Allows player characters to be rendered at a lower resolution to improve performance, at the cost of visual fidelity.
- Adjusted default quality and display settings for Steam Deck users. Existing players on Steam Deck will keep their current settings but can reset the display and quality settings in the settings menu to match the new Steamdeck defaults. (strongly recommended!)
GENERAL GAMEPLAY
- Fire Damage: Damage per tick reduced from 4 to 2. Total fire damage reduced from 20 to 10.
- Star Shards: Slightly increased chance of finding star shards from chests or bushes, making it more feasible to collect 5 in a round (instead of often being stuck at 4).
- Melee Powerup: Improved rotation responsiveness while under the effects of the melee powerup.
- Level Selection: Now takes player count into account—smaller maps are excluded at higher player counts.
ITEMS
- Boomer-ang: Increased movement speed by 25%. Damage per hit increased from 16 to 18.
- Linger-Spinner: Now remains in place upon collision for the duration of its effect, instead of bouncing back immediately. This should make it more reliable and controllable.
- Invulnerabili-Tea: Now displays "Immune" when attacking a player under its effect to clarify that all damage is being blocked.
PASSIVES
- Extra-Goodies: Rather than dropping an extra set of Goodies, this passive now gives the player +1 extra charge when picking up any Goody.
We noticed this passive wasn't having much impact on a player's ability to win and often benefited opponents, as players couldn’t always use all the extra loot dropped. By increasing charges instead of spawning more Goodies, this passive should now be significantly more useful.
UI
- Fixed an issue where selection could be lost in the pause menu when using a controller.
- Fixed an issue where players could partially cancel passive selection by pressing the cancel button or opening the pause menu during the selection process.
- The splash screen now maintains proper aspect ratios and will no longer stretch.
- Added a game introduction sequence shown on first launch.
(Existing players will also see this one-time welcome, which includes useful gameplay info. This overview is also accessible via the main and pause menus.)
- Input fields now behave more reliably with controller input and fully support Steam Deck and Steam Big Picture Mode.
- Fixed a selection issue when switching between mouse and joystick input in the tabbed UI.
- Added UI scale retargeting for lower aspect ratios to ensure optimal UI display on those aspect ratios.
- Added additional safeguards to prevent certain settings menus from appearing blank or getting stuck.
- Fixed an issue where the GameInfo display at the top left would overlap other elements. Its background is now semi-transparent to reduce screen clutter.
- Fixed a white arrow artifact seen on players at the map edge when using ultrawide monitors.
- The pause menu now closes correctly when entering the victory screen, preventing UI conflicts and confusion.
LOCALIZATION
- Added Japanese version of the game logo.
- Fixed Russian font settings to correct rendering and text color issues.
ACHIEVEMENTS
- Fixed an issue where match wins weren’t always tracked for the “Bestest” achievement. Wins earned during the bugged period should now be retroactively counted—no wins lost!

  • The redeem code result message will now be cleared when clearing the input field and when re-entering the redeem code screen.
  • Fixed an issue where when you would redeem a code or unlock a new item while in one of the menus after opening the customization menu, the unlocked item lists would not correctly resort to show the available items on top,
