[h2]Continue Your Seikyu Story[/h2]
Whether you’re brand new to the game or you’ve been following along since day one of Early Access, there’s even more story content to enjoy as of this update. Explore even more of Seikyu as you and your sister, Kon, get closer to discovering the secrets of your ancestors and unlocking Kon’s human form. The journey will be fraught with new challenges, including exciting new boss battles as you delve deeper and deeper into the ruins, but there’ll be plenty of rewards along the way.

[h2]Adopt Adorable Animals[/h2]
As you travel across Seikyu’s countryside and explore the ruins, you’ll come into contact with some furry (and scaly!) friends. Introducing adoptable cats, aardwolves, and lizards that you can befriend and take home to your farm. Adopting pets isn’t as it is in the real world, however. You’ll need to approach them with plenty of patience and an open heart, building trust by dropping meat nearby to feed them, and eventually earning the right to pet them. Once you’ve raised their affection to a suitable level, you’ll get the option to invite your new friend to live with you and you’ll even get the option to re-name them and dress them up in cute accessories such as the frog headgear, propeller cap, and little yellow duck!

[h2]Yuki-onna Transformation[/h2]
You’ve bested the boar form, you’ve studied the slime, and you’ve transcended the tengu, but what’s next for your transformation powers? Introducing the Yuki-onna form! Adopting the guise of a graceful and frosty woman, you’ll unlock the ability to float through the air and control frost and snow. You’ll even be able to freeze water beneath your feet! This new form is as powerful as it is beautiful, and we’re sure you’ll love freezing your foes.



[h2]New Heart Events[/h2]
We’ve added new heart events for 14 romanceable villagers and some of our other NPCs like Kinntarou, Seabert, Prince, Tommy, Theo, and Ivan! You’ll even be able to seal the deal and enter into exclusive relationships with some of the villagers, including Musashi, Hephaestus, Liliana, and Nyotengu. Is there somebody you’ve had your eye on from the start? Or perhaps you’re waiting for the final two bachelors to join Tales of Seikyu in 1.0 before you make your choice? We don’t blame you for playing the field, and it just got even more exciting with the arrival of…

[h2]A New Date Location![/h2]
Invite villagers to Shuten’s Tavern and get to know them better! You’ll find unique dates and dialogue options for all of our romanceable villagers while you’re on a date with them at this lively location. You can even invite Shuten here - she doesn’t mind so long as she doesn’t have to work! A tavern date is a great opportunity to get closer to the villagers, so make sure you’re on time and don’t accidentally double book yourself.

We’ve got some cool new NPC portraits coming your way for our expressive cast of characters AND you’ll even spot new 3D animations that occur during dialogue with your favourite villagers. Seikyu is really coming to life throughout its Early Access journey and we’re sure you’ll love these new additions.

Your farm won’t be short of adorable animals with Tales of Seikyu’s brand-new pet adoption system. In the world of Seikyu, pets aren’t bought – they’re discovered. Encounter animals in the wild, earn their trust through feeding and play, then bring them home as lifelong companions! Each pet type has its own ecology, personality traits, and colours. At home, your pets share in your daily life, bringing touching moments of friendship and connection, and sometimes aiding your journey with rare finds! There will be four species of pets for you to discover (with colour variations in each), including dogs, cats, lizards, and aardwolves!



[h2]Uncover the Power of the Yuki-onna[/h2]
Feeling chilly? It could be the cold winter air…or it could be the first signs of your new Yuki-onna transformation! The Yuki-onna is a powerful ice yokai with the ability to control frost and snow, and to float through the air ❄ Sometimes referred to as an “ice witch”, this beautiful yokai form is said to have the power to freeze your heart with a single breath. It’s unknown where these mysterious ice powers come from, but they’ll certainly help you on your quest to uncover the secrets of your ancestry.

[h2]The Story Continues, Explore the Ruins![/h2]
Last we left off, you were getting used to the arrival of the tanuki general, Kincho. This coincided with a mysterious illness inflicted upon your sister, Kon. Are the two linked in some way? Can Kincho be trusted? What will become of your poor sister? The answers lie in this next chapter. Expect new boss battles and areas to explore in the ruins as you get closer and closer to revealing the mysteries that lie within.

We had some exciting WIP sketches in the archive of Miss Ama and really wanted to share a progress peek at the creation of her character. ☺️

What you’ll be seeing is conversations between the Lead Artist Ding Xin and Illustrator Hua Ting at Tales of Seikyu; about Miss Ama’s design, creation, artwork and portraits. You'll also see early sketch work variations of her design and inspo + mood boards and how she came to life and entered Tales of Seikyu as our very elegant and poised seamstress. 🧵

[h2]🦜Early Concepts[/h2]

The early creation of a character begins and with it comes a few iterations and sketches, based on influences.

Miss Ama is an Amabie (アマビエ) which is a legendary Japanese mermaid or merman with a bird beak-like mouth and three legs or tail-fins, who allegedly emerges from the sea.

[h2]🗨️The Group Chat[/h2]

Over the course of 22 days the art team began steadily refining Miss Ama’s character designs through several detailed review sessions between Lead Artist Ding Xin and Illustrator Hua Ting in an internal group chat.

The discussions began with feedback on the bird’s feather structure and texture, leading to finer linework and improved layering that enhanced the sense of realism and weight. From there, the focus shifted to the Taisho-inspired outfit, exploring a blend of traditional Japanese and early-Western aesthetics. Ding Xin suggested referencing period clothing with lighter silhouettes, fitted hats, and elegant collars to achieve a look that feels graceful and dignified, something to suit the elegance of Miss Ama’s background and personality.

As the iterations continued, adjustments were made to proportions, posture, and fabric flow, refining the character’s poise and elegance.
Further color reviews focused on balancing tones and contrast, softening over-saturated areas, and harmonizing the floral motifs.

This collaborative process between artists shows the careful attention and artistry behind every design, ensuring each character in Tales of Seikyu embodies both cultural depth and visual harmony.
