Hotfix 1 and Bug Fix Patch 1!

The launch has gone brilliantly, we're delighted to see all the feedback, bug reports (tbh, not many of those! yay!) and of course all the reviews coming in - plus you managed to max out our promised charity donation of $5000 because of all the streams of the game! It's been an incredible 24hrs.

And while we've taken it a little slow today at Spilt Milk HQ - the team earned it! - we can't resist updating the game with some important bugs squashed and bits like that.
Patch Notes - Hotfix #1
• We've fixed an issue where Aimon failed to unlock the map and calendar for some players.
Patch Notes - Bug Fix Patch #1
• Child trinkets - especially ones made up of several trinkets - will no longer delete themselves when upcycling to the parent trinket! This was pretty gnarly, not many of you reported it, but it would definitely come up at some point.
 • The Frog Plushie can now wear hats! A much-requested feature, you better believe it.
 • Trash Goblin builds are now 64 bit, which may improve performance for some players. We're very interested to know if it helps with anyone reporting crashes or stuttering. Again, not many of you but its important!
 • The three random NPCs that visit you during the tutorial will no longer change their appearance overnight. It was weird when they did that, wasn't it.
 • Aunty's bedding now has a proper icon in the Customisation interface. She was furious with us for missing that, and if you know what's good for you, then you do what Aunty says.
 • Akilah will now accept the Melty Teacup Handle as one of the attachments for his Wooden Mask. Not sure why he wasn't before, guess he was just a little picky?
 • Markup text will no longer be seen in some of Donoval's dialogue. If I told you at least 2 team members stared at the code and swore nothing was wrong, would you believe me? Something something wood for the trees, y'know?
 • Squished a typo in Lucky's dialogue. Take that, grammar!

We're hoping to sneak another update out tomorrow, then it's on to the roadmap work and more chunky updates over the days, weeks and months to come!

If you want to talk with other goblins (and us) then hit up our discord!

Trash Goblin 1.0 is OUT NOW!

Trash Goblin 1.0 is out now! We did it!

It's an incredible feeling to be releasing Trash Goblin to 1.0 after all dedicated development, tons of new features, updates and bugfixes over the 6 months we spent in Early Access... but we're here now and we couldn't be more excited!

Check out the tasty new trailer we made!
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

So all that remains is for me to give a strong call for you to play and review it, even if you already did during Early Access because boy howdy a lot has changed and we need those reviews!

Without further ado, here's...
What's New
• Storyline! We’ve got a lovely, funny, heart-warming and occasionally spooky story for you to play through, filled to the brim with brand new characters, trinkets and gameplay to experience. We think for most people it will be about 10hrs of time to see it through! We can’t wait to see what you think, and who your new favourite character is!
 • The game now features a grand total of 33 NPCs, each with their own related quests and trinkets; all of them gorgeous, some of them slightly odd, and a few of them are you - backers and supporters from around the world!
 • You now have the ability to dismiss and summon named NPCs, not just random strangers. This means you can delay or hold off on completing main quests for as long as you want! Tinker away with no pressure, social or otherwise.
 • We've added over 100 new trinkets to the game, more than double what the game contained as of the final Early Access update.
 • District Travel allows you to explore two new areas of the city in which to sell your wares as a pop-up shop. Once unlocked, you cram your stash with trinkets to sell, and experience what its like to have a day full of customers who've been waiting to see your stall for days or weeks!
 • Completionists will be delighted about the Trinketpedia! This addition tracks every single trinket in the game, and ticks off whether you've discovered, cleaned, upcycled and sold each one!
 • The new "Fetching Fungi" system - which ties into the Trinketpedia - is an alternative way of acquiring trinkets you have already encountered. For a small price, of course. Business is business.
 • Grand Opening Cosmetic Set - how could we not celebrate the launch of our game without celebrating the opening of your little goblin shop?!
 • 16 Achievements, a nice little bunch to get through which we will no doubt be adding to as we update and expand the game over the coming months.
Bug Fixes and Other Updates
• During upcycling trinkets will no longer be deleted when clicking on a valid trinket at the same time as removing an attached one.
 • Upcycled trinkets will no longer become uninteractable and stuck to walls or other surfaces.
 • All our text is now left aligned, so no more issues caused by justification!
 • The potted succulent and potted leafy plant have been removed from Expansion Mode. Worry not, they shall return as actual trinkets in a future update.
 • We've lowered the cap on the mercy timer a little so requested trinkets do take so long to arrive in sacks.
 • We've updated the Expansion Mode descriptions to make it clearer when something is a functional item or a decorative one.
 • Expansion Mode descriptions also now tell you when an item unlocks further items and if they incur running costs (like the soak tub)
 • Tooltips now have a black outline to help with readability.
 • We've done a general balance pass of all prices throughout the entire game.
 • We've added a frame rate cap.
 • The wooden ear and horn now have flipped versions so you can construct beautifully symmetrical wooden masks.
 • The Quest Tracker will now update correctly when clicking on a new customer immediately after the previous one leaves.
 • The map, coffee pot and garlic string have been removed from Expansion Mode as they are now part of the main narrative.
 • Gems can now be placed on the Wrap and Esoteric Rings.
 • Prosthetic eyes now have the same type of sockets as gems.
 • Corks also now have the same sockets as gems, so you can stopper bottles with interesting things.
 • Tuning pegs are also now gems so you can make the viola look jazzy
 • All hairpin tassels and necklace charms are now interchangeable
 • The No Face Mask now has eye attachments
 • The customer bell now rings whenever a new customer arrives at your shop window.
 • All named NPC requests now appear in the Quest Tracker.
 • The Stash collider will no longer cause the Money Bag to dance around on the sales mat.
 • The Grandma's Egg now balances properly on top of the Magnifying Glass.
 • The Menacing Charm Broach has been corrected to the Menacing Charm Brooch.
 • Customer requests in the Quest Tracker are now clearer and state if something needs to be clean, or whether it can be upcycled or not.
 • We've removed the headwear category for trinket requests as it was causing too much confusion.
 • Customers will now always ask for cleaned trinkets rather than polished ones.
 • With the exception of three special NPCs in the tutorial, random NPCs will no longer change their entire appearance after reloading save files (we'll fix the tutorial NPCs in a future update).
 • It's now possible to sell an item to a customer after initially declining the sale.
 • The tutorial arrow over the bed now turns off once you end the day.
 • The tutorial arrow no longer clips into the bell.
 • As always, we've nuked a bunch of typos and grammatical inconsistencies.
Charity Streams
We're kicking off a charity drive to raise $5000 for the Immune Deficiency Foundation, and it starts right now! For the next 24hrs, we'll donate $1 for every minute streamed of Trash Goblin, to a total of $5000! Shooshies is doing a bonus length stream right now, as is Aunty Trashy who's aiming for a monster 12hr+ stream - plus we're delighted that the one and only ironmouse is going to be streaming from 2am BST/9pm ET as well - plus hopefully many more!
What's Next
Well of course we're predicting a few days of hotfixes, then some more meaningful patches, and once things have settled (early next week) we're moving into production on the post-launch plans!

We'll be showing off the brand new roadmap for all that just as soon as we get a breather, but rest assured we've got exciting things in store for 1.1, 1.2 and beyond!
Oh you're just going to sit patiently, play loads of Trash Goblin, leave a nice review and wait for the news to drop...?
That's the spirit.
Save Game Guide
As we've explained, the progress you've made in the Early Access game will not carry over to the 1.0. We've built out a guide for you, so you can access what we're calling the 0.9 version of the game for free, and still play with that progress. The guide can be found here.

Until the next update - probably tomorrow - have fun in the game, spread the word, watch those charity streams and leave us a review!

Trash Goblin (PC) Review

Getting to review Trash Goblin was a bit of a humorous process. As usually happens when something cute or cozy comes on our radar, Dayna Elieen will send it my way. I told her it looked cute and that I would review it. Time passed with nary a whisper from her, until one day she messaged our group for our bi-monthly Indie Spotlight that we would be crazy not to look at this. I reminded her I had already said I would look at it, and here we are.

But Trash Goblin left me with a somewhat conflicted feeling, one I haven’t really felt since Mika and the Witch’s Mountain. It made me start to think a little bit deeper about the whole “Cozy Game” genre and whether or not we should forgive these types of games for not really following the basic structure of video games.

There really isn’t much story to speak of in Trash Goblin, and this is more or less by design. You play as a goblin running a shop where you resell items you find in the trash. There are little bits of... Read more

Trash Goblin $5K charity launch stream!

We're committing to donate $1 for each minute of Trash Goblin streamed by the community in the first 24hrs, up to $5000 - raising money for the Immune Deficiency Foundation!

And what's more, we're delighted to announce that ironmouse will be leading the charge on twitch! 😍
How does it work?
Trash Goblin launches on the 28th May - that's a week today! - and anyone can participate, because all hours streamed and recorded on either Twitch or YouTube in that first 24hrs will count towards the goal!

The total of $5000 equates to about 84 hours of streamed content in total, so we'll need your help to stream, record, watch and spread the word - we can do it together!

Make sure to keep an eye on socials, and do what you can to help!

We'll all be using #TrashGoblin & #CharityGoblin5K when posting,

Meanwhile, a mini update as a reward for helping us out - here's the Trinketpedia working ingame!

Trash Goblin launches on May 28th!

We've spent 6 months in Early Access and are ready for market day!

We made a trailer to celebrate, featuring some lovely stuff from our community:
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

This 1.0 launch is the culmination of our previous 4 major updates, as well as a ton of all-new content in including:
 • a full story campaign where you must save Aimon’s... well that would be telling.
 • a total of 33 NPCs, each with their own related quests and trinkets
 • District Travel, allowing you to explore two new areas of the city to sell your wares
 • The Trinketpedia, that tracks all trinkets in game (and ticks off whether you've discovered, cleaned, upcycled and sold each trinket),
 • The Fetching Fungi system which ties into the Trinketpedia as an alternative way of acquiring already discovered trinkets.
 • The 1.0 launch will be commemorated with the Grand Opening Cosmetic Set
 • Achievements
 • The ability to dismiss and summon named NPCs
 • Over 100 new trinkets (for a grand total of 180, more than double the Early Access content),
 • The usual balancing, polish, bug fixes and optimisations

As ever thank you to everyone who's supported us, be that buying the game, leaving bug reports, reviews, telling a friend - whatever it was, it helped, and we thank you from the bottom of our goblin hearts!

Of course, we've got tons more to do still. there's some very exciting news to share between now and then (yes, perhaps as exciting as today's!), and massive plans beyond the 1.0 that we think you'll be stoked for - but we just need a bit more time to solidify before we share them. That roadmap is getting updated!

Keep an eye out and of course, mark May 28th in your diary! The Trash Goblin is coming!
