DEVLOG #004 - A Sneak Peek at the Big New Warehouse Update 🏭

[p][/p][h2]DEVLOG #004 - New Warehouse[/h2][p]Hey Parcel Inspectors! I wanted to drop a little devlog to show off the new warehouse I've been working on ahead of release hopefully later this month.[/p][p][/p][h2]🌍 Regional Sorting Centre[/h2][p]The star of the show here is the new warehouse, the Regional Sorting Centre. Rather than the typical cargo type based exports, this warehouse will require parcels be sorted based on their Country instead. Each door will be configurable, too, so you can pick and choose which country to export where. You'll have to progress to unlock all the doors though before you can export all countries at once![/p][p][/p][p][/p][h2]🛗 Multi-Level Warehouse[/h2][p]Elevation is something I hear players often ask for, and so the Regional Sorting Centre will provide just that. With an entirely new layer to build on, you can expand your automation further with more storage, more conveyors, or anything else you might like.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Of course, to get parcels up/down the levels there'll need to be some sort of elevator system. I'm still working on the model for that, but here's the blockout I've been using for my testing so far:[/p][p]Launchers may also be your friend when working with multiple levels though![/p][p][/p][h2]🏷️ Express Shipping Labels[/h2][p]To differentiate parcels in the new warehouse from the original, they'll be identifiable via an "express" sticker on top of their destination label, indicating that they must be exported via a country-specific chute in the new warehouse.[/p][p][/p][h2]🏆 Achievement Unlocked[/h2][p]I plan to also add a fair few more achievements with the next update, as that's something that's been requested a lot by players. These will hopefully be slightly more milestone based, and give you some goals to aim towards.[/p][p]I'd like to also pair this with a better milestone/stat-tracking system in-game, but I still need to do some testing on that to see if it's worthwhile![/p][p][/p][h2]🍱 Sandbox Mode[/h2][p]It's coming, promise![/p][p][/p][hr][/hr][p][/p][h2]❤️ Thank you for 2000+ Steam Reviews![/h2][p]As always, reviews are super appreciated and really help with understanding the pain-points in Parcel Simulator as well as showing the game to more players on Steam! UPDATE 1.0.5.2 - Community Reported Bugfixes

[p]Hi all, this update contains a bunch of bugfixes that have been reported by the community via the F7 in-game reporting tool, Steam Discussions, Discord, and Steam reviews. Thank you for using these places to report bugs, every report gets read so please do continue to report things when you see them![/p][p][/p][h3]🛠️ Fixes[/h3]
  • [p]Major - Fixed the majority of instances of joiner conveyors getting stuck[/p]
  • [p]Major - Multiple loaders into the same storage rack no longer cause the racks/loaders to misbehave[/p]
  • [p]Major - Fixed an issue where multiple save files were being deleted after only choosing to delete one[/p]
  • [p]Major - Parcels, pallets, deliveries, etc. that fall through the map/world will now be teleported back up to ground level[/p]
  • [p]Adjusted the speed of splitters and diverters to reduce "stop-start" style parcel movement[/p]
  • [p]Fixed the entry points into chutes getting stuck sometimes when loading in from a save or sleeping[/p]
  • [p]Fixed parcels getting stuck in the entrance to scanners after loading in from a save or sleeping[/p]
  • [p]Fixed conveyors pausing when a parcel is stuck marginally below the floor of the following conveyor. This made conveyors appear to be "stuck", when in fact a parcel was just stuck below the floor.[/p]
  • [p]Slightly increased the movement speed of parcels when in export chutes to reduce bottlenecking[/p]
  • [p]Added conveyor upgrade spending to the "Money Spent" stat in the end of day screen[/p]
  • [p]Fixed scanned serial numbers not appearing on the keypad when using the desktop scanner[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a typo in the contract company name "Hardhat Logistics"[/p]
[p]As we're now in the new year, this update also disables the Festive Mode 👋 🎅 🎁 - if you have any gift-wrap parcels lying around, they will stay until they are submitted (which could be never if you so choose!)[/p][p][/p][p]Thanks,[/p][p]-- Dan[/p]

  • [p]Inspection stickers can now be removed from one of the gift-wrap parcel types[/p]

[p]Hey Parcel Inspectors! In the devlog last week I mentioned that I was planning to release a small Christmas-themed update to add some festive flair to the warehouse. This update brings just that, along with a gift-wrap parcel type and some other themed elements![/p][p][/p][h2]🎁 Winter Warehouse[/h2][p]Here are some screenshots from in and around the warehouse:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]And if you aren't feeling like you want the theme enabled, you can simply turn it off in Options->Gameplay->Festive Theme:[/p][p][/p][hr][/hr][h3][/h3][h2]📅 What's coming next?[/h2][p]As also mentioned in last week's devlog, I've been working on a bunch of stuff behind the scenes, namely an additional warehouse and raised conveyors. The latter part has taken a fair amount of my attention recently, and so here are some sneak peeks at the progress (it's changed quite a bit since the previous screenshots):[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Some of the feedback I heard on the initial raised belts was that belts hanging from the ceilings would be most appealing, so you can create walkways on the ground and have belts running up above. [p][/p][h2]A sneak peek at what's coming up[/h2][p]Hey Parcel Inspectors! I have some exciting new stuff in the works that I wanted to share with you all. These updates aren't available just yet, but I thought it'd be good to share some info about them in a devlog-style format.[/p][p][/p][h2]🏭 A New Warehouse[/h2][p]Currently code-named "Warehouse 2" (better name pending), this will be an entirely new facility made available for purchase once reaching Tier 14 in the existing Parcel Sim warehouse. This warehouse will require you to sort parcels in new ways using new machines, but with a link to your existing warehouse.[/p][p]I hear your calls for more stuff to do, and more space to expand into, and I hope this warehouse will provide just that! I didn't want to simply add more tiers onto the existing warehouse as there's no clear direction to expand, and it feels the right size for the current set of doors available.[/p][p][/p][h2]☝️ Raised Conveyors[/h2][p]By far the most requested feature I have received has been for some form of raised or stacked conveyor belts, either as a replacement for Bridge Conveyors or to simply increase warehouse throughput. While still fairly early days, I'm currently working on an implementation to make this possible.[/p][p]I hope to have something playable on the staging branch in the coming weeks to test it out ahead of release. The tricky part at the moment is making sure the placement controls feel right as it can get quite messy when you have two layers of belts running along one another![/p][p][/p][h2]🎄 Festive Themed Warehouse[/h2][p]'Tis the holiday season, and so the warehouse is getting a small Christmassy makeover! This is a small themed update with a new gift-wrap parcel type and some decorations. Stay tuned as I hope to have this released very soon![/p][p][/p][h2]🍱 Sandbox Mode[/h2][p]Again, another heavily requested feature is a sandbox or "creative" mode, to allow you to freely build, expand, and spawn your automation setups with unlimited money and some quicker prototyping tools.
