Tyr's getting Tank Styles, a freshly art'd map, and longer playtests

[p]Welcome to our latest Tyr dev update.[/p][p]This update features a slew of news from our next playtest to freshly art'd maps and our first in-game cosmetics for Tyr. We run this series in video form, too, and you can catch the latest installment below.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]Are you a fellow text enjoyer? We had this registration form open last week, but we saw so much initial interest that we elected to pause registration until we get closer to the open playtest. [/p][p]Thank you for your interest! We'll reopen registration soon.[/p]
Tank Styles and a couple of cosmetics arrive
[p]One of the fresh additions to Tyr in this update, aside from all the balance changes and fine-tuning based on playtester feedback, is our new cosmetics. In total, we're adding three Tank Styles (think skins), a death explosion, and a tank charm (you can catch a glimpse of that charm in the video above).[/p][p][/p][p]These cosmetics have been added to the Territory Scan drop table, but they are intentionally very rare. The main way to get them in the future will be through a direct purchase with gold, which will eventually be a paid currency, but will also have a chance to drop through Territory Scans.[/p]
A prototype map graduates to receive its art pass
[p]Divide is the latest map in Tyr to receive art polish. This desert map, teeming with red rocks destined for cover and alien buildings amid their outcroppings, is officially back in the map pool for this weekend's playtest.[/p][p][/p][p]You can see the map in motion in the dev update video at the head of this post if you're interested.[/p][p]That's it for this update. We'll see you on the battlefield. 🫡 [/p][p]In the meantime, be sure to add Tyr to your wishlist.[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

Custom Game support in progress for Tyr

[p]We'd like to signal our support for Custom Games in Tyr by sharing some details and a screenshot of our Work-in-Progress custom game lobby.[/p][p]Custom Games are great for private and tournament play, and we've heard loud and clear from our community that this is something they'd like at launch, so we're building it.[/p][p]If you'd like to learn about our plans for Custom Game support alongside upcoming playtest dates and the Tyr Creator Program, check out the latest in our dev update video series below.[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p]
Custom Games & Spectator Mode
[p]Here's a mockup of the Custom Games lobby that we're building towards right now.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Custom Games lobbies will feature game codes for invitations, map selection for the host, the ability to switch team sides, and two spectate slots per team.[/p][p]We're getting set to test custom lobbies internally, so this may or may not make an upcoming playtest. We'll, of course, share once this is ready for our testers to take a crack at.[/p][p][/p]
We're playtesting Tyr this weekend
[p]We're hosting another private playtest this Sunday at 12 pm PT until 4 pm PT. You can register to join our private playtest community at https://stoke.firstlook.gg.[/p][p]In the coming weeks, we're planning to host an open playtest here on Steam for anyone interested. If you find yourself in the camp of waiting until we open Tyr's playtest further, head to the game's store page here on Steam and request access to the public playtest with the big green button below our trailers and screenshots. Update: We've had a lot of registrations and have elected to pause collection for now. We'll announce the date and time for that public playtest soon.[/p][p]See you on the battlefield. 🫡 Add Tyr to your wishlist.[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

Tyr January '26 Newsletter: New Maps and a New Trailer

[p]Greetings, and welcome to the January '26 edition of the Tyr newsletter. In case you missed it, we released a gameplay overview trailer this week.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]In this month's newsletter, we'll discuss the next playtest, touch on what's changed, and share our new bi-weekly dev update video series.[/p][p]Let's begin.[/p]
When's the next playtest?
[p]We'll playtest Tyr this weekend on Saturday, January 31st, at 3pm ET. The playtest will run for four hours.[/p][p]You can request an invite to our private playtest community here: https://stoke.firstlook.gg.[/p][p]We've recently increased our playtest cadence to twice per month, and we're running them for longer sessions than we have in the past. In the coming months, we'll increase playtest frequency and length even further.[/p]
What's new in the playtest?
[p]This weekend's playtest will feature a pile of balance changes, two freshly arted maps, a UI slider to help players find a HUD scale that makes them happy, and more.[/p][p]You can see both maps and their current art level in the (spoiler alert) dev update video below.[/p][p]And here's a look at my personal preference for UI settings, with the HUD scaled down to 80% of normal and the minimap at 90% of normal. You'll be able to scale the HUD and map independently if you prefer a smaller HUD but a larger minimap.[/p][p][/p][p]If you're a playtester and you'd like to know more about what's been updated ahead of this playtest, you'll find the complete patch notes on our Discord.[/p]
Introducing bi-weekly Tyr dev update videos...
[p]Finally, to give you more frequent, closer looks at what we're building in Tyr, we're introducing a bi-weekly (every two weeks, not twice per week) dev update video series. We've posted the first edition today, and you'll find it here. 👇[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]That's it for this month's newsletter. We'll see you on the battlefield. 🫡[/p][p]If you haven't yet, be sure to add Tyr to your wishlist.[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]
