Play as Lucy, a bounty-hunted gunslinger on a mission to rescue her kidnapped sister. Travel across deadly, procedurally-generated biomes, manage your survival, and fight off bandits, raptors, and much worse. Every death is just another step on the trail.

🩖 What awaits you:
  • Survival Action Roguelike
    Scavenge, craft, and fight your way through randomized biomes where danger increases over time. Manage hunger, thirst, and health - or die trying.
  • Mobile Base Camp
    Build and move your dino-pulled camp across the frontier. Upgrade your workbenches, expand your shelter, and try to stay one step ahead of the chaos. It’s not a safe haven- but it’s the closest thing to one.
  • Combat With Consequences
    Outlaws, bounty hunters, and predators roam the land. Gunfights get tougher the longer you survive. Modify weapons and use elemental ammo to adapt - or get overwhelmed.
  • Persistent Progression & Story
    Each run reveals more about the world, its characters, and Lucy’s strange connection to the Dino Path. You’ll lose gear between runs, but keep unlocked recipes and discoveries.
  • Plausible Prehistoric Creatures
    The team worked with a real paleontologist to ensure dinosaurs are believable - no giant scaly movie monsters here. Just scientifically grounded, deadly creatures in a world that forgot to evolve.

We just rolled out a new update for the Dino Path Trail demo ːsteamsaltyː

The full game is launching very soon - on May 9th. We’re beyond excited that after more than three years of work, the game will finally be in your hands.

Patch Notes for the Update:
  • Tuned down muddy butch attack frequency to allow more time for the player to retaliate
  • Increased visual clarity of the travel map to allow user to plan their travels better
  • Fixed a bug that was causing the camera to render the scene completely black
  • Now, all buffs to the player's stats are correctly reflected in the player's backpack
  • Improved the player backpack stat section to update in real time when switching equipment
  • Fixed Blessings not correctly triggering on received hits under certain circumstances
  • Reworked the Quick and Precise statuses to be more in line with other statuses
  • Improved dialogue quality, along with a better introduction to the story
  • Added status immunity on tougher enemies to better reflect the difficulty change at different steps of Bounty
  • Added storage access while in the shop to allow players more “room” to buy items
  • Fixed an issue that was causing items to float when spawned from destroyed objects
  • Reduced the possibility for procedurally spawned objects to appear in unreachable spots
  • Optimized loading times to be faster, especially when switching between zones

  • Action Roguelike with survival mechanics: Stay alive across deadly biomes - deserts, swamps, frozen peaks - where death is just the beginning. Loot and craft for survival - a nice additional touch to classic roguelike formula;
  • Bounty system: The longer you survive, the more they’ll want your head. Expect tougher enemies and more chaos;
  • Mobile base: Upgrade and move your dino-drawn camp - your one safe place in a world that wants you dead;
  • Persistent story: Unravel a bigger narrative across multiple runs. Even in death, the world remembers;
  • Gunfights with bite: Shoot it out with outlaws, dino-riders, and apex predators using modifiable weapons and elemental ammo;
  • Prehistoric but plausible: The team collaborated with a real paleontologist to ensure anatomically accurate dinosaurs, staying up to date with the latest discoveries. While maintaining some creative freedom to keep them fun and engaging, they successfully avoided common pitfalls - like depicting raptors as oversized scaly monsters. Expect creatures that are both thrilling and believable, blending scientific accuracy with imaginative flair.

First and foremost, we’d like to thank everyone who has played and shared their feedback on Dino Path Trail Demo! We truly appreciate it. Your input helps us shape the game, so don’t hesitate to share your thoughts with us on Discord and Steam! ːccheartː

Today, we're releasing the new update with another round of fixes and improvements to make your dino-hunting, gun-slinging, and survival-roguing experience smoother, faster, and deadlier (for your enemies, not you
 hopefully). 🩖

Here’s what’s changed in this update:

[h2]đŸ› ïž Major Fixes:[/h2]
  • Reworked Difficulty Scaling: Adjusted difficulty progression to feel more balanced across different runs. Less unfair spikes, more "I should have dodged that!" moments.
  • Faster, More Responsive Weapons: Every weapon now feels snappier and quicker to use, making combat more fluid and satisfying.
  • Improved Mouse & Keyboard Interaction: You can now interact with close objects without having to "aim" at them. Smooth and simple!
  • New Game Shortcut: You can now start a new run directly from the end-game screen. Because who needs a break, right?

[h2]🐛 Minor Fixes & Tweaks:[/h2]
  • Swarm Tactics Upgrade: Enemies now attack with more widened timing when ganging up on you. Stay sharp, Gunslinger!
  • More Lichens! Increased spawn rate, so go gather them like a true survivalist.
  • Weapon Wheel Bug Fixed: If you were struggling to equip weapons properly with mouse & keyboard, that’s now fixed.
  • Craft Confirmation Prompt Added: Closing the crafting interface with pending crafts will now ask for confirmation instead of making you regret your life choices.
  • Inventory Full Bug Squashed: Items will no longer mysteriously disappear when your inventory is full. No more void-eating your loot!
  • Stun Fix: Now all enemies can be properly stunned. Time to test your crowd control skills.
  • Chain-Crafting Now Works Properly: Fixed an issue where items weren’t being consumed correctly when crafting multiple times in a row.
  • Molotov Nerfed: The burning area duration has been reduced. Less standing in fire, more actual fighting.
  • Shotgunner Enemy Damage Lowered: Getting blasted at close range is still painful, just... slightly less deadly now.

After more than 3 years of development, we’re thrilled to announce that Dino Path Trail is live at Steam Next Fest with a brand-new demo!

Y’all have been tearing through the Wild West (with dinosaurs, of course), and thanks to your feedback, we’re dropping another big ol’ patch to make your journey smoother, fairer, and a bit less... buggy.

Here’s what’s new, what’s fixed, and what’s been wrangled into submission:

[h2]đŸ› ïž Major Fixes:[/h2]
  • Perfect Dodge Rework: Now smoother, better, and actually worth mastering!
  • Throwables Now Have Manual Aiming! No more “oops, I meant to throw it over there!” moments. Time to git gud with your dynamite tosses.
  • Status Immunities Are Now, Well... Immune! Blessings that were supposed to prevent certain status effects will now actually do so.
  • A Fairer Expedition Map: Travel map generation has been tweaked to make routes more fair and better for planning. Less RNG frustration, more strategic choices!
  • Modded Weapons & Smelting: Smelting a modded weapon will now return the base weapon along with the mods, instead of just eating everything into oblivion.
  • Stat Recap Added! You can now see a breakdown of your stat modifiers in your backpack, including Damage, Health, Speed, Defense, Evasion, and Regeneration. Some of them are still wildly inaccurate, but we’re working on that.
  • Boss Fight Map Performance Boost: We heavily optimized the boss fight map, making it run way better. (Still working on a few things, though!)
  • Difficulty Curve Adjustments: Rebalanced to keep things challenging but fair.
  • Less Empty Maps, More Resources: We reduced the vast emptiness of certain areas and rebalanced resource distribution to make exploration feel better.

[h2]🐛 Minor Fixes & Tweaks:[/h2]
  • Time Keeps on Slippin’
 But Not Anymore! Run duration will now STOP when the game is paused. No more losing precious seconds while taking a snack break!
  • Guns 101: The first time you pick up a rifle or shotgun, a set of slides will now pop up to explain how to use it. No more accidental “I thought this was a melee weapon” moments!
  • Camp Expansions Actually Cost Money Now! Yeah, turns out Little Thump wasn’t charging for building expansions. He was just being way too generous. That’s been fixed.
  • Storage Box Crafting Works Correctly! Crafting with materials inside the storage box will now actually consume them. No more infinite resource magic tricks!
  • Weapon Mods Won’t Freeze the Game Anymore! Applying a mod at the shop will now actually work instead of freezing time itself.
  • More Egg Shrines! Special zones now spawn at a better rate. Go hatch those dino babies!
  • No More Duplicate Revolvers! Fixed a bug in the second tutorial map that was handing out extra revolvers like party favors.
  • Auto Equip Weapons & Throwables: Newly picked-up weapons and throwables will now auto-equip whenever possible. No more digging through menus mid-combat!
  • Better Diary Sorting: Uncraftable elements now stay at the bottom, where they belong.
  • Shooting Through Walls? Not Anymore. You wish you had wall hacks, but we fixed a bug that let you shoot through some obstacles when standing too close.
  • Slot Deletion Dialog Fix: Now works as intended. No more menu weirdness.
  • Backpack Duplication Exploit Fixed: You can no longer cheat your way into extra inventory slots by picking up the same backpack multiple times. Nice try, though.
  • Smelting Improvements: Non-modded weapons now properly return materials, and you can smelt equipped items without unequipping them first. Oh, and warnings will let you know if you're about to melt something important!
  • Unlock Messages for New Gear: Weapons, gear, mods, and throwables now pop up an unlock notification, just like tools do.
  • End Run Recap Improvements: Skipping the animation won’t throw you into a loading screen anymore, so you can actually see your results.
  • Base Camp UI Upgrade: Worktables now show an icon if you have enough materials to build them. Also, expansions now preview their next upgrade benefits.
  • Caravan Requirement Added: The Caravan is now needed for other worktables. Plan accordingly!
  • Status Stack Recap Added! Along with stats, you’ll now see a summary of your current status effects and what they do. Hover over them for details!
  • Crafting QoL Improvements: Removing items from the craft list properly updates the materials list now and holding the craft button will proceed to craft the selected item. No more unnecessary clicking!
  • Weapon Stat Bars Are (Mostly) Fixed! Accuracy has been improved, but we're still fine-tuning the numbers.
  • Egg Offering UI Upgrade: Slots now show the egg’s name, so you don’t have to be a paleontologist to remember which one is which.
  • Muddy Butch Fight Rework: Attack patterns have been adjusted to create better attack windows.
  • Gamepad Navigation Improvements: UI navigation is smoother and more responsive now.
  • Item Dropping Tweaks: Items can now be dropped by holding X (keyboard) or the west button (controller).
  • Storage Box Improvements: It's now easier and more intuitive to equip attachments and to move stacks between your backpack and storage.
